If it uses default textures anyways there is no need to save them in your pack or combine them into one texture anyways.

And ofc it lags, that's 4500 elements after all (so ~27000 faces)
For comparison, a couple chunks in Minecraft wouldn't have that many faces to render usually (since sides of blocks that are covered by neighboring blocks don't get rendered ingame)
