This may be super basic but when I click on any of the squares to recolor them, they instead turn transparent. The issue occurs when clicking on one of the faces of my model to paint it. Is this something others have encountered? Any assistance here is appreciated.

Are you using the Fill tool?

sigh No.... but I just realized I am using the eraser tool... Facepalm
