I'm new too blockbench, using a cit/place in item frame thingy, and no matter what i do, the north, east, and west uv's won't rotate or fix/look like how it looks in blockbench, any advice/help?

  • 1.19.2 forge with optfine (cit items from others work fine)
  • texture is default Minecraft brick texture.
  • lastest block bench version (4.9.4)

I remade the model (facing the N/North symbol on the plane sqaures) Apply to Face plus auto uv, this so far only fixed the South directions rotation, although its upside down.

the only solution i could do, (append elements to template dosen't work either, box uv, ect) was make a 90-flipped version and put that on the west and east sides.

south's rotation slightly fixed, but is upside down... only bandsde solution is the thing i did for the east and west sides.

will leave this open for a too see if someone knows a better way too fix this issue.

The blockstate files for stair blocks do have UV lock enabled.
I'd assume you want to disable that.

for context what uv-lock does: it rotates the texture depending on the blockstate rotation to make sure that the lines of the texture always face north/south (or east/west), independent of which direction of the stair.

#

so your best bet would be to copy the relevant blockstate file from the default pack into your own, then find/replace all "uvlock": true to "uvlock": false

this is an item in an item frame they said

#

@warm leaf is that correct?

#

if it is an item in an item frame, when you place the item frame on the ground it is not going to look the same as in blockbench, because that rotated the entire model back 90 degrees

#

when you go to display settings and view the item frame preview, that is how it will look in game. ignore which direction is physically down and pay attention to only the item frame relative to the model

pearl dove
#

oh, an item frame

#

maybe it's just rotated wrong in the display settings?

warm leaf
#

@rapid cradle yes, i did check the display in blockbench and found that the texture is locked on south east & west in blockbench when placed top, its seeable in Item Frame Top/placed on top of a block vs Item Frame/placed on the side of a block, I haven't rotated the model/cubes itself when I remade it.

i tested this with a new model/single resized cube with nothing changed in display, just the texture applied, and the top item frame uv lock in those uv directions is still true.

Using a normal Minecraft brick block and brick stair shows the same results interestingly when placed in an item frame.

pearl dove
#

yeah, if you place a stair in a top/bottom item frame ofc it will be 90° rotated

warm leaf
#

So the uv's south, east, & west are supposed too be locked when placed in an item frame thats on top or on the bottom of a block? I can't modify the textures uv in those directions if placed top/bottom, not even in the .json file, interesting..

rapid cradle
#

its not uvlocked

#

the entire model is rotating

#

it just doesnt look like the model is rotating because its symetrical

pearl dove
#

like, imagine this green arrow is part of the texture
that's how the model is rotated

rapid cradle
#

change the shape of the model slightly and it wil be much easier for you to see what is happening

warm leaf
#

interesting, so this can only be fixed by giving it a whole different texture rotated by 90 in the affected directions?

oh i get it now, i think, thanks :>

Alrighty, thanks for the help
