uv mapping issue

trying to move my perface uv maps around and its suddenly deciding i can only see one face on the uv map at a time.
where as before i could see all faces but click on one and move it independently

yes then i can see it all but its selected all like an hour ago i could see them all and select individual faces and move them allowing me to organise them without having to memorize the location of one face.
