The new features with layers are great and appreciate the hard work put into it.

That being said, the new features made selecting and quickly placing selected pixels much more time-consuming for me.
I need to select the all source pixels then go to target texture place it (sometimes it doesn't want to place in and it goes to a new file called placed) click place and then disable layers to flatten the image.
That to many steps if you do it 1000+ times in comparison to older versions and for my workflow is a downgrade.
Is there a way to completely switch this new layer system off? I really would like to be able to continue using the Blockbench without this new layers system without installing an older version of Blockbench and not benefit from new upcoming features.
Please help me find the way to disable the layer system or make it even easier.
Just copy all pixels and place it in new texture file that is it - two keyboard shortcuts - done.

I will really grateful for help.

Select - Ctrl+C to copy - Switch to new texture - Ctrl+V - Position and click somewhere else to place.
If you are clicking in the textures list, it'll focus that panel, and Ctrl+V defaults to pasting into the textures panel.
So either click into the 2D editor once before pasting, or switch textures directly in the 2D editor.
It's not that different from how it used to work. Just way more flexible.
