#Need help with bookshelf rotation

whether a block can be placed directionaly or not is solely decided by the game, not by your model
This is not entirely true. I can change the appearance of a block, such as a campfire, depending on the installation point (facing=north), but this does not work here.
Because of literally what I just said
Campfires are directional blocks, so your model can be directional
bookshelves aren't
It's a pity. It turns out that it is impossible to create a 3D model for this block, or it will look scary 😅
you could use it for chiseled bookshelves
it will not look nice if they are placed next to chiseled 🙄
I mean... you could base the model of the block off of the tree logs and work from there.
It'd be a little more finicky, or you could use the model of Beehives instead.
🤔
Need 42 combinations for chiseled bookshelf, it's easy.
And for a regular shelf, I will make 3d from all sides, they just won’t go beyond the limits as in the screenshot above 😅
If you want to fake more depth, try inverse cubemaps.
That's what many games use to create the interior of buildings, it's basically just an inverted cube with a screenshot applied as it's texture.
my new bookshelf 😆
