I have been editing the handheld.json with notepad then reloading the texture in game, but is it possible to use blockbench's positioning ui (firstperson righthand, thirdperson lefthand, etc) to change the handheld.json model?
I can't figure out how to import the png texture of the diamond sword in order to get into the positioning ui. Thanks for any help please ping if you reply.

Ok the solution was "file:import:extruded texture" however I have a new problem now

#

when I exported the model its created a monstrosity mapping all the pixels or whatever instead of simply having the xyz of scale rotation and transform

#

is there a way to export just the "handheld" model with the simple and clean values?

I am trying to create a model that lets a 16x sword look like that same sword if it was filling half a 32x canvas

drag your json model from resourcepack to blockbench instead, extrude method is in this case creating new model for no other reason.
