I peek the door and toss my flashbang/gas through the crack, however sometimes it opens wide enough, other times it doesn't. Is this just a part of the game I need to accept, or is there something that causes this variability that I can change

no your not, the flux raider is a carbine kit, it turns the p320 and others into a PCC, it would not be considered an smg in the full meaning of the term (smg is generally full auto but civillian models are semi) as the maurader said, but it is not just a "pistol" so it needs to be put in a primary group of weapons, in ready or not that just seems to be smg.
