I get frame drops in the weirdest of places personally, like looking in the corner of rooms for example has dropped by frames by 20 or so, but looking down a very detailed corridor is fairly stable.

and I've got an old PC that this game is probably not really designed to run on lol

Never really had many crashes aside from when I was playing with a friend who had VRAM issues and took a while to load in to the station. If I did anything when he was in that limbo VRAM world, it'd crash the game for me

This was pre-patch

Overall framerates are higher for me but the dips go lower and are more frequent. That said, the game looks notably crisper and less murky than before the update

My main issues are, as I said, bad framedrops at random but I'm willing to accept that might just be my hardware being old.

The other issue is that, at least in the DX12 version for me, tweaking graphics settings does absolutely nothing in the game. I either have to go edit the config or switch to DX11, meddle with settings there and then go back to DX12. I also think this may have been an issue pre-update too, I just took it for granted that my settings were updating.

So yeah, idk what's happening but my graphics settings don't change anything. I think the only one that seemed to make an impact on performance was turning off per-object shadows in-game. Yesterday I was playing a few maps in Commander Mode. I have my fps locked to 100 but I would notice it drop down drastically in certain areas, mainly like the sprinklers area in the hospital or rain outside on the final mission. The weird thing is, my GPU and CPU arent maxing out. My 3080ti (12gb VRAM) hovers around 60% usage and my i7 9700k hovers around 40-50% usage. It's also installed on my nvme and I have 32gb RAM. The framerate would tank from 100 to 50-70 off and on.

bottleneck is always present and might or might not be an issue, depending on the task. ron is particularly cpu heavy, so the issue is more noticeable. before the update, my 5800x3d bottlenecked rtx 3060 (which has pretty much the same performance as 1080ti, so pretty slow for modern standards) from time to time

Yeah, unfortunately, I'm in a position where I have to make do with what I've got. Since I built the PC, I've had substantial lifestyle shifts. That combined with the fact that to get any meaningful upgrade, I'd basically have to build an almost entirely new PC and the costs that incurs means I'm stuck with my 7th gen intel basically until something blows up

The only setting that seemed to do anything for me was per-object shadows. If I shifted anything else around, nothing changed. Tried switching FSR on and there was no difference framerate-wise and no visual difference. Normally, you can tell when FSR is on because things look a bit fuzzy on the edges

it seems to be more somewhere between what we both said, depending on game, and depending if steam detects things properly

but it seems to have problems quite often and decides to replace whole package instead

this is not the issue. I just did a test match of gas to see how the ai would react. I had them sliping and sliding all over the place. The guy droped his weapon the moment i entered despite being in a totally different room .

I won the gunfight and it didnt feel stupid till i looked back at the replay. the guy locked on to me through a wall and followed me with pin point aim. this wasn't just being more accurate this was an aimbot being turned on. where ever i moved it followed with no delay. The gun was perfectly in sync with my movement

I think much of the issue is largely lack of variety in suspect behaviours
they still favour fighting, are super aggressive still rushing the player at times, side strafing with extreme accuracy while also firing full auto.
Even if one hesitates, once they stop they will always decide to start shooting at you, they pretty much never run away unless they're shoot at you whilst doing so :/

they still just feel like they have too many buffs compared to the player and are functioning in a completely different type of game
