either way its not too hard to bag the prince dude if you just take the middle spawn cus hes usually there
it is on a timer, it has nothing to do with him seeing you or any tablets
he can do it from anywhere on the ship with no indication

Whats the best armor plate type for light armor?
Ever since steel got buffed it's the best currently for surviving the most shots, and acceleration penalty was reduced so it's not as slow as it was before (ceramic still faster but not as strong as steel) at the end of the day it's personal preference however

A bit more than just front only, but not that noticeable
Full coverage is where it's starts to be very noticeable
But that's only possible with heavy cos of side plates( light armor can't take side plates, so no full coverage option)

Does anyone have any tips for completing active shooter missions with the SWAT AI? I've been trying to do the new docks mission and the suspects always seem to execute at least 2 hostages before I can get to them...
If you're playing in singleplayer you could try to have your AI teammates pick those up, otherwise you do have to restart.
You can attempt to use a flash cannon to get it unstuck
It should get auto secured if it falls to a place where it's unreachable if not try a grenade or something or tell AI to search and secure it
Is that why I sometimes get random knive pick ups? Happens mostly on twisted I notice
My successful attempt was ignoring the arcade and securing the exterior first because that's where the civvies are mostly - outside, then secure the arcade for last, still require a bit of rng luck especially on hard mode since it has around 5 more suspects.
Yea, especially that map and rust belt which happens the most, that 'mechanic' was introduced instead of fixing the actual problem lol, but still better than nothing I guess
Pier is rng heavy like other active shooter missions. Suspect spawns can make or break a successful run
So, I suppose that the boat infil would be the way to go, and the best route would be carousel -> small shops -> haunted house -> side exterior areas -> arcade?
I've had issues (possibly of skill) with missions like this since 1.0 came out, I wish the swat AI could move a little faster in these scenarios
Parking lot is more linear but all spawn points can work tbh, which boat infil exactly as there's 2 of them that are with boat afaik, docks and the other forgot it's name
Focus on exterior and some of the shops that usually have suspects such as the food shop etc.. personally from all my runs that I did I only had once where there was a suspect in the haunted house so I wouldn't waste time checking it
And arcade doesn't have civilians so I would leave that for last, but be careful not to take super long or the ones inside arcade will come out searching for civilians which makes it 10x harder trying to clear the whole exterior again
I was thinking of the one that puts us near the back entrance of the arcade, that one seems closer to the highest average civvie population (open areas + small shops). I also did have an extremely unlucky spawn in my last attempt and had about 2 suspects in the haunted house. I got the first one from outside and the 2nd one executed some hostages right as I was going back to properly clear it.
I guess I could wedge the arcade doors to keep the suspects in (the 2 double doors and the single side alley door)
With parking lot entrance you can kinda clear linear (clockwise) and avoid back tracking, with other spawns you kinda have to pick where to go first if either left or right and then have to back track to other side

You can't because it's scripted to when you get close to it the door automatically opens with a civvie running out and dying (doesn't affect score btw) and it would be hard to close it and wedge it as they instantly start blasting

That is true, I guess it really is extremely rng-dependent. However, if I can close those first doors that open and wedge them it might help to keep those 1-2 hostiles locked in the arcade while I clear everything else. I think I should also remap the default command for the AI for both locked and unlocked doors now that feature should be fixed... Anyways, thanks a lot for the tips!

Well yeah, ofc. The speed can definitely help with getting into better spots while the suspects don't know you're there yet.

Wouldn't 6 flashes be more consistent? the 9 bangers have a 5m radius while the flashbangs have something like 8 ish meters. 9 bangs seem to be goated for smaller rooms, while flashes remain king for slightly more open areas. I don't really know how either of these 2 fair up against stingers though

M320 flash and stinger are both 10m though
I prefer the 9 bangs because they stun slightly longer and also has the most morale damage due to the multiple bangs

Gas is also pretty usable again now, but I kinda got used to the instant stun of flashes/9 bangs now as well as having both anti flash goggles and ballistic mask
does the ballistic mask make that big of a difference? I think the suspects can defeat that pretty easily on some of the harder maps
I find gas to be better when there isn’t a lot of cover since they can’t recover from that as fast as a flash

the angled grip should help with aim speed, if that's what you want. However the difference is extremely minor. I prefer to run the combat grip as that reduces gun sway while aiming afaik

if you run the mirrorgun in PiP mode you also can't really see much of anything on it due to how much aliasing there is on the picture
Yea I heard the FPS cap for the mirrorgun is stuck - irrelevant to what you set it too so that might be why

I think I'm fine with trading a small amount of speed for better front protection. We're almost never surviving getting shot in the back anyways so I won't be missing out on much when compared to front & back ceramic

Yep 1 mag primary, 1 mag secondary gives them unlimited mags for both, they still reload normally when they run out but they don't run out of magazines

For the m32a1 primary launcher you can give them 0 slots and they would still have infinite because by default it has a full drum already

They sort of miss out on the shotgun's best features (long range breaches, wood door trick) so I'd be more inclined to give them the ram. I have however kept the shotgun on them basically since the early access days mostly due to swat 4 sef nostalgia. What do you run on them as far as breaching tools go?

And when I do play with them it's S rank most of the time so I give them mirrorgun while I use m320 flash for myself

But if I had to pick shotgun or ram for them I would use the shotgun because its not as loud as the ram and also has more morale damage afaik

While that is true, breaching shotgun saved me a couple times because it's way faster switching to a weapon after using it where as with ram it takes ages to switch but yeah you don't have to reload the ram which over the long run it's 'faster'

I never said rams aren't being used. Other tools are used more often. On deployments ive seen doors breached with a ram maybe a handful of times. Breaching charges, shotguns and crowbars are used way more often than rams. Loadout weight is a big factor

I guess the mp7 and p90 are decent unless you're up against lv4 plates, but the other smgs just feel awful. It'd have been nice if they dealt extra limb damage or something, even if it's not completely realistic...

How does anyone do Elephant? Every time I do that mission the bad guys just end up killing a hostage after like 4 minutes, and it doesnt help that the map is the size of texas

We've just had a discussion on that mission type earlier. You might also want to run front-only steel plates in your vest, you'll be fast and have pretty good survivability in firefights. Getting flanked is almost certainly a death sentence in this game, so you won't miss out on much by only running one plate in the front. Also, a common tip I've found online is to use realistic tactics for dealing with such situations, as in you clear the map normally until you hear noise (screams, gunfire or maybe something else), then you try to get to the source of the noise as fast as possible. You'll also want to figure out a route that works for you, I usually try to get to the lecture hall and cafeteria as fast as possible. You'll have to do some trial and error and hope for some good RNG...
Why steel plates? wouldnt ceramic be better if its faster?
steel plates got a slight buff this last update, and because you'd only use one in the front you'd be faster than using 2 ceramic plates. However, if you want even more speed you can go for one ceramic plate in the front.
I for one wouldn't use kevlar, especially on elephant, as the suspects have rifles
but the most important thing is to find something that works for you. A solid route through the building is much more important than a min-maxxed loadout

I do recommend trying to go upstairs first, and use your AI teammates to clear out the labs on the green side
and breaching the lecture hall from the upstairs too, trying to clear that from the ground floor doors is hell

active shooter maps are very rng dependent though, sometimes the suspects spawn in way too close to the civvies and they start blasting them before you even have a chance to save them
take Hunger Strike for example (even though that map is almost certainly bugged atm). 8 times out of 10 the suspect in the upstairs office will smoke the upstairs civs the millisecond you touch the stairs, or make too much noise...

Out of all the missions I’ve played, I’ve had to pull out the pistol twice and my officers were fine
I’m trying to nonlethal. I’m doing an iron man run without my officers dying
But I’m going mostly nonlethal to keep their sanity
If I can go for the s rank then I will, but if it’s too risky or someone is about to die I pull out the pistol and kill the suspect
i think you can keep their sanity if you leave them on the spawn
as long as they don't shoot anyone down
if they get stressed just run thank you come again

Yeah I've been using 5.56 for a pretty long time, but I've just checked stats on sheets and it seems that .300 BLK does more damage and penetration... Which is strange cuz irl this caliber is worth using only with suppressor
.300BLK has it's specialities IRL but there's a reason that it's being semi-phased out of SOF use with most units lol

They work amazing in large areas, even though some people say regular bangs have a larger radius, my experience has been different. I’ll throw a 9-bang in, let’s say the bank, and that whole first floor is shut down for me.

Finally got to a mission that has traps and... well how the heck do I even know if a door has a trap? been dead three times now with no real pattern that I can see

Peek them or use your mirror gun to check before you enter, if they are trapped you either c2 from a distance or peek it and equip your multi tool then disarm it and it’s good

Use your officers, make them use the mirror gun, they always call out the trap, its a wire, sometimes its hard to see, the best way is looking at the side of the door with the mirror gun, you'll see a grenade

That mission sort of does that, the issue is you get blow up a couple times before getting right, i personally enjoy doing that mission with my friends when they are just getting started, they get scared of the sudden explosion
Some of them lean in too much when disabling the trap, opening the door and blowing themselves up, some didn't even check them and boom

Its down, you see the wire but since most of the interior a kinda dark it merges into it, watch both sides of the door and there's going to be a grenade if there's a trap

Yup, also its always a singular door when there's traps, when you see a double door, they are safe
Not every trap is lethal also, some of them have flashbangs, so if you run the googles, you can just walk it off

General question regarding matchmaking, which regions have the most players? I'm perfectly fine with randos joining my game and i dont care how people play but I struggle to host a public game with a constant flow of people coming in? Any tips?
hide and seek is left but I think it'll be like when I was done with Neon Tomb

i'd say to just wait for people to join, remember that even solos or duos can complete maps

there's also an lfg channel on this server so you can host and have a vc for easier communication
but in regions I'd say don't specify on some and just play locally for everyone to have better ping overall
They need improve the AI teammates. They don't have self preservation and stand in a line of fire when engaging suspects.

You unlock the next mission as you complete the actual one. DLC missions have the same progress mechanic as the main story.
Can I host a game without selecting a specific region? (Probably a stupid question, I dont have access to the game right now so I cant check but I always thought Im forced to select a region before hosting...)

One of my friends played so laggy even i saw him moving at 15 fps, we managed to play the whole game and dlc, the people who can withstand the lag are something else
He also lived in a farm so thats why lol
I dont really lag cus ethernet connection but i do have high ping cus regions
I usually play with people in the USA or Australia so
I usually have 187-287 and the game goes just fine
