Sometime, item need a pot scroll to unlock the potential before cubing

this is what I had equipped and I was trying to turn it into meso gear

But if you need to tier up, you need the pink cube
The normal cube will cap as purple tier
For mesos/drop gear stat, you need a legendary tier (green)

I get how it works, I have just cubed up several items
but when I put this item into the enhance window almost everything is greyed out
maybe something is wrong with the item

on the left is how any other item appears when I drop it into the window. on the right is this dud item that doesn't want to work
I'm guessing that I got the item from an event and that the game doesn't want me to enhance it
