Used to be a long time KMS player (OG pre-bigbang) returning back to the game, never played GMS before, its been about 4+ years since I touched the game, does anyone have any good resources I can use to get up to speed (and also learn more details about the intricacies of GMS, i know they its now completely separate from KMS), seems like there have been a lot of updates.
I have been using youtube as a resource and this discord group as a resource but was wondering if there was a place I could find more concrete data. Any resources/links would be lovely!
Never thought to play GMS, always played KMS with a VPN, but with all the GMS updates, I'm excited to start a new account on GMS!

Thanks for the vid, seems solid, had a quick runthrough. Since there are no hyperburning events going on right now, do you recommend player to get the beginner pack to take advantage of the tera burning? Never had to use it but i also dont want to farm to reach 200. Looking to start my ain now or wait till a burning event? Alos how is the marketplace exchange rates look like? does it make sense to exchange NX for mesos for progression as well as things like pets?

I remember spending multiple Ks on maplestory and I really don't want to do that atleast untill i decide to come back fully, im sure this has gotten worse

Deciding if Interactive or Heroic worlds suit your playstyle more is probably the most important thing for a new player.

The heroic worlds (Kronos/Hyperion) remove trading, scrolling, and bonus potentials in exchange for more straightforward progression in the form of a passive final damage buff (to make up for no scrolling/bpots) and 5x meso gained from all sources, as well as very cheap meso cubing.

The interactive worlds have trading (auction house) as well as "frenzy service" (where you pay a frenzy totem owner to buff your map to 3x spawn rate). However, interactive does not have meso cubing, so all f2p cubing is done using whatever we get from events. Progression is more dependent on taking advantage of trading rather than making your own stuff (like in Heroic) for the most part

#

Heroic worlds will demand more time from you if you want to progress faster. Interactive worlds allow you to swipe your credit card to skip progression stages if you like

I'm more used to the interactive world playstyle so I went with Scania

Both world types have their advantages so there's no wrong answer, just gotta make sure that new players understand the difference

Yea, idk how I could play MS without the auction house haha

Anyway my recommendation is to avoid buying the starter pack if all you're looking for is the tera burn. Getting to level 200 is very straightforward nowadays since they added story quests all the way up to 200

#

As for deciding your main/waiting for hyperburn, I recommend just trying a bunch of classes to level 140 or 200 using the story quests to level. You'll probably find a class you really like, and that's the class you can save the hyperburn for in the future

I've just been grinding the quests so far, leveling is really easy but ive done these quests like 50 times lol, I will hold off on the starter pack, never really used it personally as well, but starting out it does seem to be nice. I'll be spending mostly on cosmetic + mesos exchange.
Do you recommend waiting to start my main until the burning event? or I can just start now get to 200 and use the burn to get to 270
Also, really intruiged about the GMS only characters like Lynn and Sia, how do those fair in the world of maplestory are they trash classes?

Basically every non-KMS class is broken to hell and back (in a good way)

#

they crank out more damage than non-KMS classes on average, but it's always a gamble to main one of them since they don't have the robust support of KMS development

ohhh makes sense! Thanks for all the tips! I'm just gonna go back to grinding out characters

no problem :)

if you do find a class you like I recommend waiting for hyperburn and then deleting/remaking it during hyperburn (even if you got to level 200+). Hyperburn will propel that character like crazy and you'll outlevel whatever you had it at in like 30 minutes
