those are the only 3 items you're allowed to wear in Code X

Each red slot means you've unequipped an item that is equipped in the first preset, so the slot is empty.
In the third preset, double-click on each slot once if it's marked as "1", twice if not.
Do so on all slots except for your weapon, secondary weapon, and emblem.

After you've done with the bosses, re-equip items that was taken out from the third preset to your inventory, and double-click red slots to retrieve.
