#dashing mechanics?

So I know like how key door dashing works but there's one thing I never could figure out. I'm not currently at my PC right now so I don't have a screenshot. But how come dashing across a diagonal wall and sometimes if there's a little bump along the way you bonk and sometimes you don't. From my experience it seems to be which direction your facing when initially charging up the dash. But even that like 25% of the time doesn't work. Can anyone explain this?

that's called slopedashing and it depends on where you start the dash

there are parts of the slope that ignore collision for one or two pixels if you tap into them gently. These are the parts we use for 1 frame clipping but they can also catch you repeatedly when you dash along them wrong

So it's linked to key dashing as well how link dashes 4 pixels a frame

It seems to be much more consistent with which direction you start though

keydashing is also position based, and a good/bad slopedash can change your position but I can't think of any cases where there is a key door at the end of a slope

however it does affect whether you bonk on certain doors or fences
