Not sure if Ive seen this floating around or not, but a potential interesting spin would be starting with the gold sword, and downgrading each time you find another sword, to a minimum of the fighters sword. Would make over-looting a potential hazard, but would require some reworking of certain boss fights probably. Just an interesting thought that could be fun.

Randomizer logic is constructed so that you can't softlock a seed even if you're trying to (aside from major glitches in no-glitches logic), so you'd have to either set the minimum to Master Sword or do a lot of work to make Master Sword no longer required for anything. Basically, logic would have to be built around the possibility that the first three chests you open are sword downgrades.
At that point, either you make MS the minimum (which kinda reduces the appeal I would think) or you have to figure out some way to make all the MS-locked checks (including Ganon himself) work with FS.
Hmm.....is there a way to apply master sword properties to the fighters sword while keeping damage to the fighter sword level? That would be the easiest way to solve that issue....forgive the ignorance, first post. Fairly new to this, got to watching the Speed Gaming tournament and kind of started just.....playing these randomizers.
In theory
but there's also the other aspect of this which is we don't think it would be very fun
losing items you had previously leads to a bad experience for most people
if someone made this, it would likely never make it's way into the main randomizer
I guess that's fair. I was thinking of a way to bring more challenge, but I guess i din't consider the fun factor. sorry
It's okay. It's a suggestion that we get alot
sounds like a nice mode to save scum all the time and have zero fun
especially in a game where you actually have to open chests to progress, so there's no real choice in skipping random chests
People would just save scum if they got downgraded
