i'd shut down the server to save what data you can
either you shut down the server and save the data or you let it stay up and hope the drives don't fail
cause i've heard hard drive recovery isn't cheap at all
like an average 1k to recover data
which I say is a significant downgrade in storage space
plus Iβll need a new boot drive
cries
i looked it up and hard drive recovery ranges from $500-$1000
dhdnjsjsd
and that's for one hard drive
ya know what
lemme see if I can remote into it from my phone
I donβt want to lose any of my data
maybe you guys can help me set a new one up later??? ππππ
i would like to start using linux instead of just windows 10 pro
well i know nothing about linux
nope
lol
π
you seem pretty knowledgeable
i only work part time at my factory job so don't really have the income to buy everything needed to get a server running
???
i don't make that much
by server I deadass just mean a old pc
oh lol
bro I donβt make enough for that shit bruh
i thought you meant an actual server
fudggggeee nah
i do have an old pc but it's not hooked up to anything
but i don't have ports left on my router
55 recovery attempts yea that's not good
donβt know why it kept restarting thou
probably a bad sector on the hard drive
i'd say go with a 250GB SSD @charred granite
gotchu, what brand?
or what should i look into
got any suggestions of one u know which is high quality
samsung is a good brand but pricey
What?
say ive built my system and all that, got both the hdd and ssd working, when i first launch the pc, will it come up with an option to which area i want to download windows on?
ive built this pc 2 years ago so i have no idea
Yea it will ask you
okay thx, and after i got it up and running and i want to install discord and steam, can i allocate that to install to my hdd?
- games
Yea
cool, thanks a lot
I would install the steam program on the SSD but install the games on the HDD
ah okay, any particular reason?
Faster load times
gotchu, ty bro
I can show you how when you get the pc built
sure, would be great
in a couple of months time tho
before summer im guessing
i might leave the ssd till last tho, wanna make sure i get a good one and stuff
do a backup
Don't buy Ergotron/AmazonBasics monitor arms/mounts
did it fall apart moh?
Nope, I was just doing a routine clean of my screen and desk and saw that
are you talking about the crack?
and moh this is what i have https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I3IMWNY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
but it looks like they've changed it since i bought mine
yeah the crack
i've had that monitor mount since 2016
Anyone got any recommendations for 27 or 32 inch 4K 144hz monitors?
Are you willing to pay a little bit of money?
No more than $1500
Dude thats much for a monitor
4K 144Hz
4k 144hz? better have a Titan RTX for that
Just get a server and play with it at this point
π€
So no recommendations? All I can find within my budget is the Acer Nitro XV273K. It looks nice but I'd prefer a slightly larger screen if possible with my budget.
I don't know if that's the best thing to go for in honesty. The GPU power isn't there atm + are you really after that level of detail and refresh rate? Might be an idea to consider something like an ultrawide instead
yea don't expect to get 144hz in 4k with graphics maxed out
The plan is that I'm upgrading my setup to SLI 2080ti so it should have no problems running at high frames on 4k
Eh
most games don't even support SLI
It still would struggle
I'm aware
I mean, if that's what you want and your heart is set out on that then go for it, but from what I know, it's not a smart decision with the current hardware offerings at the moment
Yeah
For me 1080p 144hz is enough actually
But if you want a monitor like that go for it
I don't really have much knowledge or recommendations for 4k 144hz monitors
There isn't much for choice in the market anyway for that type of monitor
@wide temple wdym by it's not a smart decision with the current hardware offerings? afaik as far as performance goes you can't get much better than 2080ti SLI unless you went for RTX Titan SLI
Yeah. Even a 2080ti will struggle with that options
A single GPU can't reliably push those frames at that resolution. I already explained the other day why SLI isn't something I'd consider simply due to how it can cause performance drops in some games over a single GPU card
Unless you have that GPU already, I would wait for the next gen as it isn't that far away
But equally it's your money and whether you see fit to wait
the only people that would really see a difference with SLI is people doing video production and graphic design
Yup, dev support in games for SLI is considerably different from what it was a decade ago. I also suppose it depends on what kinds of titles you play / plan to play
you don't even see the top twitch streamers that have crazy amounts of money with SLI systems
Then again most streamers aren't playing at 4k/144
my monitor can do 165hz but i have to turn down the graphic settings to get a steady 60fps
if i wanna play at 165hz
i've even had a couple of games force close due to my monitor being set to 165hz
@clever spire if you are still dead set on SLI here's a list from last year on the best games that support SLI https://www.gamingscan.com/best-games-that-support-sli/
Oh cool thanks I play a lot of them
I mean, if I get the pc and sli really isn't working out with no real gains then I can just sell one of the cards on so it's no big loss, right?
i doubt you'll get back what you paid for your 2nd GPU
I'll be getting a prebuilt PC already setup in sli
Might affect the warranty if you sell that second GPU
True
You can always buy it separately though and add it yourself
Also true although ive never done any work on a pc before aside from adding and removing RAM sticks lol. Is it very difficult to add a GPU?
It's as simple as adding more RAM
In that case I'll consider it. It might be better value for money as well buying the 2nd one separate
Well, my 14 year old nephew managed to build his own pc, so it's not that hard
To be honest, he made a big mess with the cables inside but apart from that, everything was connected properly
cheaper to make, existed way before NVMe did
for price reasons?
π€
perhaps
but why even make it that formfactor then
why dedicate them pcie lanes then
because it takes less space and cables than a 2'5 ssd
^
what Misterclic said
Has anyone got any opinions on this
Corsair 275R Airflow Tempered Glass Mid-Tower ATX Gaming Case (Tempered Glass Side Panels, Three 120 mm Cooling Fans Included, Verstaile Cooling, Expansive Storage, Removable Dust Filters), Black https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07VNB23RZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_4wKtEbQBCCERE
pros: solid case, lots of airflow, good filters
cons: useless vertical gpu slot (way too close to the glass) unless you have a watercooled gpu; psu cables will be cramped in the bottom chamber due to the hdd drive cage
^
Oof
i did oc π but pink , green and other colors destroyed my screen xd
so my grapich card is not enough for overclock
i will buy new gpu coming soon π
Overclocking is like tuning your car to have more HP, but in the long run, it's going to decrease the lifespan of the concerned parts
pretty sure she cursed you @wide temple π
like... my gpu is at 1% usage and my cpu at 20%, I got 16 gb of ddr4 ram at 3200mhz, so why am I stuck at 1fps
must be the hardrive
but wait... fh4 is installed on my ssd
I'm confused
can you tell her to stop cursing me pls
I've had a monitor arm fail last week and now a drive failure
oh you too?
π
https://discordapp.com/channels/307433337126125568/378700976733028353/678673584654385165 Yeah I posted it here last week
broken link
works for me
like bruh my friend ran fh4 on a ryzen 5 2400g, using the integrated graphics and he was doing fine so why am I struggling with a ryzen 5 1600x and an rx580
ye
looks like plastic
I asked on reddit and one person responded saying there's was the same and thought it was meant to be like that
Had a look on google and saw two reviews on Amazon, one person receives theirs cracked and the other person had theirs crack after a year
It's plastic yeah, I thought about plastic welding it
do it
i went full on metal π€
even for the single monitor arm
i know dang well plastic doesn't last that long against constant tension (weight of a monitor in this case)
The whole arm is made of metal besides those plastic inserts π
I don't have monitor arms, I just use the factory base
though my monitor weighs 6.76kg
the only plastic bits of a monitor arm should be the cable management clips/holes
and aesthetic parts over the metal arm
yup, agreed, not sure if I'm gonna get another arm yet or what
i strongly recommend a metal arm...
especially for an ultrawide
ain't no regular monitor that heavy
the one I'm using is an AmazonBasics Single Monitor arm, which is basically a rebranded Ergotron LX
my 15 year old 19inch LG monitor is about 6kgs @brittle mountain
15 year old
it's a stupidly old LCD then
@wide temple if i link you an arm from Amazon UK, think you'll find it on the DE part?
π it'll likely ship from there anyway, the one I bought shipped from a warehouse in Germany
that's the one I have right now
ask for a refund on that, it's shite
can't, well past it's warranty date
Ergotron are supposed to be decent too π it's what employers and the like tend to buy
try finding either of these near you
i have the second model for my left side monitor
and the dual monitor version of the first one for my other monitors
does that even do tilt, rotate and swivel?
oh, I dunno if I should just wait because I'm moving into a different room soon with more space and a bigger desk
this one seems very similar to mine and all metal by the looks of it
identical to me left side monitor arm

I wanna see pictures of that
if your wallet is a drain pipe
mine is a shaft that goes to the core of the earth
no recent pictures unfortunately
I'm also not sure if I plan to wall mount it or not, which is a lot more scarier tbh
The only lights in my PC are on my motherboard
with that stupid RGB strip light on the back
the RGB on my Dom Plats does the same light sequence as Vader's chest lights
yeah I know, I'm not too worried about having tilt/swivel, as long as I can move it up and down a bit and some slight left/right movements. I only usually move my monitor out the way to clean my desk
the cpu pump is a solid lightsaber red
while the rest of the lights glow slowly in a "Sith" dark red

after spending so much in performance
had to invest something in a theme too π
can't wait to get a P500A next month
that's the mATX one?
same design in mATX form
it's going to be the third Phanteks case in our house
pretty sure that's a P400A tho
no, wait, why did i have the impression that P300A is mATX π€
yeah, Evolv speakers
thats would look cool, if it wernt for that big ass drive cage
Im Having The Windows Xp error in my head All Over Again lol
Fractal Design Focus G is good imo
I like Meshify C don't everyone
Define Mini C here
what is your ram?
Which one? My friends recommend the 5700xt
RADEON RX 5700 XT 8GB vs GeForce RTX 2070 8GB l 1440p l

Forza Horizon 4 - 02:48
Red Dead Redemption 2 - 03:56
Control - 05:47
Hitman 2 - 06:44
Battlefield 5 - 07:46...
That config doesnt looks very balanced
The ryzen 5 2600 is a bit weak for that kind of gpu
Ditch that cheap motherboard, the cooler and windows, that will allow you to get a ryzen 5 3600 and a better motherboard, like the tomahawk max
The stock cooler that comes with the cpu is sufficient
A nvme ssd is also kinda useless, a sata ssd is cheaper with similar results
Im not a huge fan of the psu too, seasonic or evga psus are better
And you can get a windows activation key for really cheap
LGA 1155 uses DDR3 RAM right?
Would not bother with a 5700 XT, way too many driver issues that are simply not worth the hassle
and I say this as someone who really like AMD

thinking about getting an all glass panel case with zero airflow? go for it π
Going for asthetics over airflow is not a great idea you can get a Fractal Design Meshify C For that price and it is one of the best cases for airflow out there.
nah i'd take off the glass panels and make my own out of aluminum or steel
i have an old case that has pretty good airflow but i wanted to get a different case with more room for cable management and more intake fans
But where is the intake coming from or how are you gonna make the panels so they have intake?
it's not that hard to find metal mesh
You do whatever makes you happy lol
if i can make car ramps out of angle iron it can't be that hard to make a metal mesh front intake
Never said it wasn't...
@spiral yew Would it be a better idea to find a case with a front mesh before going through with that? It'll most likely be cheaper as your not paying out for tempered glass.
There are plenty of mesh cases on the market with excellent airflow and good aesthetics if you look carefully enough π
Would it be worth it to go from an AMD II X3 350/450 to an AMD FX 6100?
It's an β¬25 upgrade
I don't have experience with both cpu's so take what I say with a grain of salt.
If I'm just looking at spec sheets I'd say the FX 6100 is much better than the X3 450, on top of that the FX 6100 is unlocked so you could try overclocking it a little
I was stupid and didn't look at the compatibility between the 6100 and my motherboard. Sadly it doesn't support the 6100 as it is the M4A78LT-M.

While reading the spec sheets it was in the back of my mind, the 2 use different sockets, but I thought you were just comparing them π
Should I buy a Case and PSU for β¬100 but as I have a β¬25 gift card it will be β¬75?
that is a great budget case, but that PSU is literally useless unless you're running an APU
the case is fine, not the best build quality but it's not that expensive either, and it has a good airflow
the psu is just crap though
I have a AMD Athlon II X3 450 and a GTX 750 Ti which requires no power connector
Currently I use a 270 watt PSU do yeah
Evga recommends 300W or higher for that card, I mean it'll still run but I'm unsure what sort of issues someone can run into with an underpowered PSU
It could be that either my CPU and/or GPU are underpowered performing worse than they actually can
no power connector on the GPU means 75 watts
Yup
B450
Ryzen 5 3600
16GB Ram 3200MHZ
GTX 1070 Ti 8G
120GB SSD
2TB HDD
Good for 1500?
Gonna build it, prebuild even if u change things isnt worth ut
1070ti?
it's not made anymore since last year at least...
the closest you can get in terms of performances is the rtx 2060 super
that's a good config, but you aren't telling us exactly what you're going to choose... not all components are equal, even if it's the same gpu, or motherboard chipset for example
1070ti is on par with 1660ti (which has 2 GB less VRAM tho)
but yes, you can't just say B450
you need to be a bit more specific since some B450 are absolute trash and some are god tier

i'll check 3DMark for my Benchmark result if ill ever find it ;D my old one reach 3,000 Points and now this one hits like 17k-20k Score
Bloody hell
whitout overcloaking
Bruh
5 seconds booting, darn mine takes forever to get the mobo to load first
Mine takes more time to initialize the bios that to boot into Windows. Maybe 6-10 seconds. Max
me on X470 with 3900x with all sys checks active and no fast boot options engaged: goes to the bathroom, takes a piss, comes back, windows loading logo π

Nice
So I've been experiencing some randomly HDD disconnects while playing games. I've checked that thing on Power plan where you can specify if the hdd turns off after a period of time and it was on 20 mins for somw reason even tho I put it on never months ago. Could my hdd disconnects be bcuz of that ? It seems strange to me bcuz hdd was actually in use (playing specific game) so it shouldn't turn off
You're sure it's just a disconnect and not actual signs of failure?
Shouldn't be signs of failure. It's an 2 years old HDD. It disconnects for 1 seconds then connects back. Enough for a game to crash ofc cuz it can't read the files anymore
I put the power plan to never again last night so I didn't had time to check if it still does it again
Just wanted an opinion, that's why I wrote here
Uh, I don't know, I just checked mine and it's set to 20 minutes for some reason, and it never caused issues, and I've got this PC since early 2018
Weird. I never had this problem and never had the hdd on a 20 mins turn off, that's why I think that's the issue. It started doing it recently like 3-4 days ago when I actually edited something in the power plan and maybe somehow put that timer to 20 by mistake
gonna have to see anyways
Mine's set on high performance, not sure why that timer is there
check your hdds smart values (you can use crystal disk info)
and check the value for "end-to-end errors"
There shouldn't be an option for your hdd to turn off while the pc is running... that would be completely stupid
I don't think the issue comes from the power plant itself...
As ray said, crystal disk info might give you some hints
so this is what it says
I've unplugged and plugged back the HDD and played for almost an hour without problems so I think it might be fixed π€·πΌββοΈ
Hardware ECC recovered seems to be pretty high
Could have been either a bad sitting cable
or a bad hdd
Anyway, you should keep an eye on it
Didn't touched any cables. Case has a special HDD caddy with connectors
only removed the hdd and put it back in the caddy
Power surge?
hi
when i playing game on my pc, screen is freezing i cant do anything. i resetting pc but freezing again after 15-20 minutes. i tried to update drivers but said βyou should update your windowsβ and im tried to update Windows to 1909 but while updating itβs freeze again. what should i do? (sorry for my bad english)
Could be overheating, open it and blow air everywhere
69c is pretty hot for a hard drive
The inside of my pc is always roasted and toasted
get some airflow
also, not even WD Red Pro get that hot under full load
you'll fry its PCB and lose everything at that rate
i have 3 intake and 3 exhaust fans on my case
So I'm in the process of upgrading my internet, will I need to upgrade my ethernet cables or anything to deal with the extra bandwidth?
69c, talking about my HDD ?
Cuz it says 31, like in the big blue box lol
@clever spire Depends on what type you have right now
Cat 5e and Cat 6 both handle 1gbps
how can i identify which ones i have now?
Renegade what internet speed are you gonna get?
Cat6 are just a little bit more expensive so you can get 5e no problem
Whats the difference?
Or 6a for "future-proof". 10gbps
5e is only good for shorter distances
^
Shorter distances = ?
I need the cable to be at least 20m long
In that case just get cat6. Shouldn't be that expensive
Don't forget you'll need a router to handle 1gbps
my new ISP will be providing one
Router or modem ?
What's the difference?
A modem doesn't have wifi capabilities
Oh it's not a modem then
Itβs probably a router/modem combo
Router handles how your internoot is distrubuted in your house and a modem provides the bridge between internoot and your house
Most modern routers include a modem ye
Is that internoot stuff a reference to penguins? π
Thanks lol
Made me laugh actually haha
Don't think I can push any further with this setup: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/25311073
CPU, GPU and RAM 100th percentile
hey yall. (I'm not a pc spec guy) If I want bigger storage space on my pc, what do I need to change to make it bigger?
Upraged ur harddrive whit a bigger SSD and or HDD
what's the difference?
@plush sinew. HDD is mechanic and ssd is numeric.
what does that mean?
HDD have a disk which is running. Max 7200laps per mins
SSD is fully electronic.
SSD is faster and expensiver.
HDD is slower and cheaper
How do I know which one of these I've?
no, stationary
Then can you make a pic's of your HardDrive ?
okay, I'm analyzing rn
don't need to analyze or optimize, just opening the program will tell you
or should at least
yeah, it says hard disk drive
That windows. π
Is there a limit on how much gigabytes you can have?
The largest HDD is like 16TB
what about SSD?
You need also to know if your computer allow ssd.
You can also get 16TB SSDs I believe but they're insanely expensive
1k β¬ for 4tb ssd
@sand valley waht does my pc require to allow ssd?
You need to have some PCI express port on your motherboard
@sand valley okay, that's beyond my knowledge, I've no idea what that is
I can't really help you at this point. I'm still on my laptop. (Beautiful specs)
You've helped me enough to understand better. Do you have a gaming laptop?
Adding an ssd is the same as adding a classic hard disk. You just need a sata port available (there are 4 available by default) and a sata cable plus power cable. It is very easy to install
@hidden shell oh ok. Wasn't SSD fully electronic?
Yes.
I have two HDD 1TB for windows and Linux.
32gb of ram (2/4used)
I7-7700HQ
GTX 1070M 8gb
@hidden shell. SSD isn't has easy to install Ram ?
Obviously no, but it's easy non the less.
Hm
Oh.
Maybe that because my laptop have directly this and I just need to do it like ram.

you won't get 90fps on the C-D road

you might get 90fps where there isn't anyone
easily 140+ in solo
I can't pass the 60fps due to v-sync.
Why it's good to check thermal paste if you notice CPU Performance issues, even if the system isnt overheating
Lol
nice
anyone here used EdgeRouter's before?
ye, just wanted to know if anyone had any experience with it. I'm debating whether I should play it safe and get an EdgeRouter Lite/X or go advanced and get a pfsense router
depends, whats your project?
deploying 2 UniFi Nano HDs + 24 port smart managed switch. Just need a router to do it all, either a pfsense or EdgeRouter
well, I would go with EdgeRouter
Physical thing ya know
lets ask my alter ego
Hey @leaden swallow
he's a guest so can't see unless he links his account
thats my alterego ^
They forgot to send me ram :/
Just download some

LOL
lupus it depends on how much you wanna spend
A mediocre price I'd say
@sand valley it depends on the feel you want the better feel the more expensive it will be. Like if you look at razer for e.g I think the least expensive one is like 120 Aussie for a good one hat also has full rgb
Alright ty for the recommendation
Lupus, what's your budget, and what type of keyboard do you want=
A mechanical one also not loud and I guess 100$ since i use different currency
Logitech G413
simple, cheap, reliable, silent compared to most mechanical keyboards
Tbh I think this is what I was searching for
Hope you replace that thermal paste too whilst you're at it
you can be sure that i know better than most people
thanks for thinking anyway
Mission complet
Looks like an Aspire E series of some kind
My dad has an Aspire E but it doesn't look like that on the inside
@sand valley Do you know the difference between a tactile and linear switch?
Also, do you want a full-size keyboard?
@wide temple yeah acer aspire e5 573g

is it normal for him to freeze in the game?
Freezes or fps lag spikes can be caused by different factors, hardware, software, even my beast PC can have lag spikes, particularly in beambg drive game, but not all the time, so I have yet to determine what exactly could be causing mine
Speaking of older graphics cards, does anyone here still own a GTX 680 from when they first bought it back in 2012?
@distant monolith I know the difference and also idk what size, just as long as its comfortable
Okay I just heard my storage HDD shutting down for some reason, and it started again when I opened file explorer, that scared me a little bit since it makes the same noise when I shut off the PC xD
So Lupus, do you want a tactile or linear keyboard?
Also, when I talked about size I meant 40%, 60%, 65%, 80% (TKL) and the 100%+ ones
That ain't good..... First bsod on this PC
@distant monolith I'd say tactile and I'm fine with tkl and 100% ones
Linear is just not for me tbh
Any specific colour that you'd like?
I'd probably recommed this one then
https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=4284
Ducky's are really high quality, which is why I'd recommend one. I personally have one myself, and I also have a Varmilo, which is a brand that works with Ducky sometimes.
Do they have 100%
Yeah
Just to check them out
Give me a sec
Alright
Do you want backlight on it?
https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=3485
You could also get this one, but it doesn't have RGB or anything like that.
Here's the full size.
Do you use an ISO or ANSI layout on your keyboard?
I guess you're using an ISO layout, right?
Yeah i use ISO layout
Alright. Have you heard about overclockers.uk?
Nope
I'm trying to find a vendor that sells them with an ISO layout but all of them are sold out
What country are you located in?
If anyone is good at diagnosing BSOD, can you DM me please?
why don't you post your BSOD or Error Code here?
I've put the BSOD code already, but didn't include the bluescreen viewer thing
https://discordapp.com/channels/307433337126125568/378700976733028353/688828924461187123
It happened when I was in the middle of a turn on ETS2MP... It just froze, including the music from YT, yikes... But what I don't understand is that the nvlddmkm is related to Nvidia, and I did do some minor changes last night, unplugged a sata cable from one port and put it on a different one on my mobo
I've already ran some checks through CMD, like chkdsk on all my individual drives, and also did sfc /scannow, and none of them showed any problems
nvlddmkm.sys looks like your GPU driver
According to this thread it could be a failsave mechanism when your GPU is overloaded or instable
https://answers.microsoft.com/de-de/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/bluescreen-verursacht-durch-die-nvlddmkmsys/4b41778e-6655-4a0e-bf1f-249356201370?page=2
Did you try uninstalling and re-instaling an older (or newer) nvidia driver?
I've installed the latest version a few days ago, but I'm not sure if it's relevant or not, but I do get random lag spikes in another game (BeamNG drive), which I don't really know why it happens, sometimes it does it, sometimes it's perfectly fine
try installing an older driver then
Either 417.22 (Game-Ready WHQL according to nvidia website)
or install 432.00 via Windows device manager
DPC_Watchdog_Violation is usually an indicator for unstable cpu/gpu voltage and/or clock
I've never done OC, or messed with voltage or clock, could it be something else causing those instabilities?
PSU: EVGA Supernova 850 G2 80+ gold 850W Fully Modular
I've got 32 GB of RAM, they're all the same, set to 3200 I believe in the BIOS
what are the frequency of your ram?
The trfc timing looks a bit off 416 as it says in the screenshot?
Also you're running on 3200 only, evan tho your RAM is advertised as 3400
Yeah RAM is supposed to be 3400 as advertised, that's the OC value, because I believe it's 2133 the base frequency right? And the reason it is set to 3200 is because I omitted to look at the frequency support list of the motherboard, despite the RAM model was compatible
i assume the other RAM Sticks are also 3400 but running at 3200?
it's also weird that hwinfo does not display your Ring/LLC Status and System Agent Status
They should all be the same, as for the ring llc and system agent, I have no clue what that is
ring/llc speed is the CPU-Cache-Speed (it's memory similar to RAM, but on your CPU)
https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/336462-what-does-ring-ratio-do/
System Agent is the PCI/PCIe, Display and Memory controller
https://www.overclock.net/forum/5-intel-cpus/1519310-what-does-vccsa-vccio-actually-do.html
i have the same MB and BIOS version, so we can say that the BIOS is not the issue
Since nobody wants to answer my thread about how to go about setting up my ring ratio for a better overclock, can someone just tell me what the ring ratio affects? Is it only for performance or does a higher ring ratio make for a more stable overclock without having to up the ...
I know this question has been ask many time before. but it seems there're different answers to this same old question. popular opinion is that VCCSA
can you please restart your pc and then launch HWinfo again
Is the system agent and ring/llc status still missing?
I'll check a couple things after a restart, but I'm in the middle of a Malwarebytes full scan, should I cancel it?
no. Finish the mwb run and then the other things you want to check
I'll be off for today.
You can still post here after you restarted your pc. I'll read it tomorrow
No worries, anyways I'm watching stuff on YT and might go eat after too
@turbid vapor install 441.87, it's the latest fully stable driver
If I install an older driver, I'll probably forget to check when there's a new stable version, but yeah it can be annoying when it comes to gpu drivers, does it work well?
A what?
Yeah Iβm confused what his trying to say too
a power virus is an extremely overkill load on a cpu/gpu normally designed to check stability and/or temperature scaling
Go on Linux. More stable than windows.
I can't remember who helped me a couple of days ago with CristalDyskInfo
but now my HDD is for sure dying
everytime I enter a game it disconnects and connect back
I recommend offloading all important files from that HDD
only games on it
already ordered a new one
funny how it's only 3 years old and dying and my other 9 years old Samsung hdd doesn't have a single problem
maybe
What brand is it?
Seagate
@hexed lion have you maybe pulled the sata and power cable out then put it back in making sure itβs nice and tight?
And clean
Yeah. Definitely not the cables. I just swapped the hdds in the caddys to check if the case connectors are bad. Bad hdd working fine and the other one workins fine as well. Swapped them back in their original places and the bad hdd is working fine again. It's definitely the hdd acting up/slowly dying.
Iβve had 2 Seagate drives fail in the last 2 years
seagates are supposed to be reliable...
Mine is 7 years old now and still perfectly fine...
That's why I'm very surprised that it's dying. Same as you I know Seagates are reliable :-??
I've ordered a 2TB Toshiba now. It was the only one in stock with 7.2k rpm
It had lots of good reviews so I hope it will last at least 4 years lol
What drive was it? The drives I had fail were both "Seagate Mobile" drives
My replacements to them were Barracuda's and both of them run cooler and quieter
Barracuda..

I have WD drives (HDD and SSD) which are running fine after 2 years
Iβm planing to buy some flight games and I would like a stick and thrust thing. Any suggestions? I would like something nice but not to expensive
Well... Windows has 2 faces:
One - "No access to internet"
Two - "IP Address: 192.168.0.x"
This anomaly has happened to me, that's not a joke
@drifting horizon happens to me all the time
And it happened again, except that it didn't have the Nvidia system file in red.
So I was driving like normal on the road, I was on the middle of a left hand turn and I felt my wheel trying to spin to the right, like when you plug the wheel again. Then I managed to pull over somehow, and unplugged the wheel and that's when it froze...
Indeed, but another thing that I notice, that is really annoying me is that sometimes when let's say someone close some lights in the house, my wheel starts spinning, or when PC is off, it turns itself on, but doesn't load UEFI or Windows, it just... Runs? But also my PC is plugged on an uninterruptible power supply, which I don't know if that has any effects... But it's supposed to adjust the voltage to prevent too much variations and causing damage?
That looks like a low voltage condition. Do you have a Volt meter to check the output of your ups? Or try plugging into the wall, maybe your exceeding the wattage of your UPS
Hmm... Darn it .-. I thought I did well to get the highest rating UPS to protect my rig from random power interruptions
But here's the thing...
My UPS is : CyberPower CP1500AVRLCD 1500 VA 900 Watts UPS
And my PSU is : EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2 80+ GOLD 850W Fully Modular
For now I've put my steering wheel on the surge side, instead of surge + battery
Does your ups has a display to show it's current load?
Yep, I didn't check under load, but on normal use (not gaming), it's just about 150 VA
I think it might be time for me to buy a PSU
Then that's clearly not the issue :) unless it's defective
I turned on my PC and it booted but it turned itself off, on, off, on, off, on and then it froze
frenzy have you tried disconnecting your graphics card?
It's powered via the PCI-E lane
i've had that problem before where my pc wouldn't power on until i removed the graphics card from the motherboard
i would try disconnecting the graphics card from the motherboard to see if the pc even boots to bios
Does it get to the bios or does it reboot before that?
It boots normally
I even had an instance where I pressed the power button and it turned on after like 20 seconds
So when I'm in game, my UPS reads 304 VA, and only 2 bars out of 5 for usage
Clearly not the issue, you must look somewhere else
looks at Windows
guys when looking at cpu temps do i look at core temp or package temp
Usually core
Yeah normally core
Corsair 16 GB DDR4-3600 Kit - RAM

@jade dust
Its not the best.. but i tried to keep it cheap

I used to play on my laptop, which is getting older and older so i decided to build a PC
So everything is new
Still have to order everything and build it but thanks
@vapid river don't forget a monitor, mouse and keyboard
Already have monitor, mouse and headset π All i need is a new keyboard but thats fine
"its not the best" has an X570 mobo, 3600X, 16 gigs of fast DDR4 memory, a fairly high performance SSD, and a mid-range GPU
what isn't the best is that PSU
I would not be confident in using such a PSU with high performance components
Tbf i don't understand anything about PCs, so this is all Chinese for me
π€ moh doesn't like corsair or he trolling
It's a Bronze rated PSU...
I have a Corsair RM650x in my PC which is alright I suppose
I'd get at least a gold rated PSU, perhaps 600 or 650W?
Im over here using a 450 watt psu with a 2600x and a rx 5700 xt.
dont kill me
(works completely fine and I actually never go higher than 370 watts)
hey, if it works...
What the
I logged into Windows and my pc turned itself off and then on and off
I think it's the PSU
If i press the turn on button it doesn't start
Benji, did you fix your error with windows crashing yet?
It only happened once like a day or two after, but nothing about Nvidia somehow π€ for now it's not acting up... And it's definitely not my UPS, I still don't know what could be randomly causing it
Finally got mine built after many versions
Nice
I was just looking at shifters, what brand is recommended? I remember hearing bad stuff about a couple.
I make my own but tech affliction has a website & southerntruck on facebook
Mine are priced similar to theirs
Does it get to the bios or does it reboot before that?
@hidden shell would you like a video of it?
I've read what the issue could be and most things says that it's a bad PSU
It worked normally since May 2019
@mighty vine have you looked at the logs?
Which logs?
go control pannel
then administrative tools
ummm
then event viewer
did you find it?
what does it say?
Kernel-Power
Event Category (63)
Event Identificator 41
Yeah, it's a unexpected power outage when starting the pc up
Im gonna reseed the power connections and check again
If it happens again it's the PSU
alright
Anyone here have the G27? They don't make them anymore
i do have a g27 but it's broken right now
Right I need some help
So basically my PC will turn on but not show up on my monitor and not power any USB things unless I turn it off and on again about 3-5 times
And whenever I nudge my PC or my desk the slightest the whole system will crash
Don't know if it might be my hardrive
Heee hee
Found my problem
When I first built my computer I stashed the hardrive at the side of it so I could quickly get it working
Here's my setup
what monitors are those?
β’ Intel Core i5-9400F Desktop Processor 6 Cores 4.1 GHz Turbo Without Graphics
β’ Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 2400MHz C16
β’ GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB WINDFORCE 2X OC EDITION
β’ Sceptre 24" Curved 144Hz Gaming LED Monitor Edge-Less AMD FreeSync DisplayPort HDMI, Metal Black 2019
β’ Corsair K55 RGB Gaming Keyboard
β’ Corsair SCIMITAR PRO RGB Optical MOBA/MMO Gaming Mouse
β’ Rosewill ATX Case, Mid Tower Case with Blue LED Fan/Gaming Case for PC with Side Window Panel & 3 Fans Pre-Installed, Computer Case 2 x USB3.0 Port
β’ MSI Z390-A PRO LGA1151 (Intel 8th and 9th Gen) M.2 USB 3.1 Gen 2 DDR4 HDMI DP CFX Dual Gigabit LAN ATX Z390 Gaming Motherboard
β’ Rocketfish RF-700WPS 700 Watt ATX CPU Power Supply
β’ Seagate BarraCuda 4TB Internal Hard Drive HDD β 3.5 Inch SATA 6 Gb/s 5400 RPM 256MB Cache
And actually my graphics card is different than what is listed I forgot to update my build sheet.
Hey guys. I plugged in my SSD last night and made sure itβs working. Now, I want to completely install a FRESH new copy of windows10 on my SSD. Iβve got a HDD connected already, and I want to keep that, however I just want windows to boot on my SSD. I have prepared a usb which has the windows setup to boot from, however Iβm a bit lost. People are telling me to disconnect the HDD when I boot up the computer, however, I want a clean install, and I wanna make sure there is nothing on that HDD
Itβs like building a new computer, however instead of it being new, I just want to completely reset everything and start from scratch
You want the fresh install on the SSD or the HDD? If you want it on the SSD you should just unplug the HDD and do your install. Then you'll have to change the boot order in the Bios to the SSD so windows will boot from it.
If you want both wiped, just leave the both plugged in and windows installer will ask what you want to do with your storage devices and if you want to format, etc.
Ahhh right yeah, I want to completely wipe both of them and then install windows on my SSD
Yes, so just leave them both installed and set your boot device to the USB and run it. Once it goes through its setup it will ask about your storage devices format both and install windows to your SSD.
Ah okay. So I format both of the drives?
Yes delete all partitions and make sure the sizes match the drive sizes empty.
So if it's a 20gb HDD, format and make sure it says 20gb in the installer
Ahh gotchu! Thanks bro
So, all I need to do now is restart my pc with the USB plugged in
And then in the bios, select boot from usb?
Yes
Thanks, doing that now
Awesome, Glad I could help. I've done way too many installs lmfao
Oh lmao, Iβve only built 1 pc in my life, and for some reason now I wanna add an SSD XD
Haha I've built every single one I've ever played on, Plus some. I'm like my Family & Friends IT guy xD
Thatβs sick!
Yep definitely, thatβs why I got one
Actually I got one a while ago to use for my new pc build soon, but I figured itβs too small and I want a bigger one
Theres no disk inside thats writing all the information. It's like a badass USB Flash Drive that's built inside lol
I'm still running a regular HDD but I'm oldschool, It's what I know. I love the idea of SSD but just never bit the bullet. Got a great deal on my HDD so π€·ββοΈ
Yes exactly
Ahh right, how much did you get it for?
And whatβs the capacity?
And yeah me too, I just got an ssd too, decided that itβs finally time to install it lol
4tb and I think I only paid like $45 USD for it which is a steal for 4tb
Wow!
2 years ago, I bought a 1tb HDD for like, 35 pounds
Or something like that
Wow yeah technology has definitely came a long way in the past few years.
Yes! For sure
Hell when I built the PC I'm on now, SSD's weren't popular yet so they were still super expensive
Ahh :( I bought myself a 120 GB SSD for about 20 pounds :)
Also sorry to interrupt, Iβm making sure that Iβm doing this right
So, Iβm focusing on the boot priority right?
T
The bottom one is the USB
Yes, So move the bottom one/USB to the top.
That forces the MB to boot from the USB first
Yes
Okay :)
Once it restarts it should go to the windows installer
Okay, Yeah when you get to the part about Partitions or Storage thats when you have to format the HDD & SDD
SSD*
I always reformat the new drive just incase
Ahh okay okay, Iβll do that, Iβll format both drives
Also, what do I click here?
Is it the custom option?
ye
Okay, thanks
Thanks!
π
guys should i buy computer parts first or a new chair first
I'd go with a chair first tbh
Depends, Is your computer at a decent point where it doesn't need upgrades yet?
Like can you play the games you like to play?
Anyone else getting stupidly long unskippable ads?
In theory, you're supposed to be able to skip after 5 or 10 seconds
That's what I'm used to after many ad-blockers stopped working
That's not a bad one, some are more than a minute long
and another, before this was a 15 second ad which went straight into this one
Then it'll sit there and wait till I hit play for the actual video
Get uBlock Origin, works perfectly for me
Turns out that's the one I'm using lol
Mine stopped working for a bit too. Have you tried unistalling it and reinstalling it? That worked for me at least.
ok done that, now ads are even longer
Did you reinstall it? Make sure that that the adblocker is active too, because just completely stopped working
Check if you have ads on other websites
This only really started when the UK went into lockdown, I feel it's a marketing ploy for youtube red imo
I'll check
TMP website has ads right?
I'd just try a few different things, because I don't really have concrete solution to it. All I remember is that I unistalled it (and maybe closed Chrome), then reinstalled it
It is certainly an odd issue. Maybe I should try removing all extensions and then add them in one by one if the issue goes away
I didn't remove mine
Took a while for me to unistall uBlock though, as Chrome didn't want to unistall it at first
ok uninstalled ublock and it now gives me the option to skip ads again
I think YouTube have worked a way around ad-blockers for now that causes this issue
Yeah
Can you try to close Chrome, then reinstall uBlock now?
I'm pretty sure I did something like that
yeah 1 min
but yeah, I think YouTube has done something like that. I was really confused when that started happening to me too.
Yeah that's worked, clicked few a videos and refreshed a few different ones and it seems to have resolved it
Thanks π
It'll probably end up broken again lol but for now it's good
i use firefox and privacy buffalo
privacy buffalo shows you the trackers that are trying to track you
uMatrix is nice for that
i don't think you have enough privacy extensions
always room for more
oops
I'll flex xD

AMD just dropped their mobile CPUs... and hot damn they are goo...
Anyone ever make their own button box? I've been doing some research and they seem fairly straight forward to build with the right stuff. Just want someone else's idea or thoughts.
cant say I have
Anyone here that can help me out with my Logitech G920? The problem I am having is that the wheel will turn smoothly then it will be very tight in steering, then back to normal.
are you alt tabbing in and out
No, but why would that matter @spiral yew
i've had that happen with my g27
Well itβs like in the steering, when I turn either direction, itβll feel normal then very tough then normal and so on @spiral yew
oh i dunno then and you don't need to tag me every time since i have discord open on another screen
So I ordered the stuff to make my own button box, I already have an enclosure for this project. I will update everyone as soon as the parts come in but for now, have a picture of my nice box.
Thank you! Due to the "Rona Virus" Amazon says they won't be here till end of April so π€·ββοΈ
ππ
Those light buttons are cool :)
None of them actually light up, but I wanted different colored buttons to help remember what button is what
I'm just hoping that everything works as I'm planning it in my head lol
No I mean the middle 2 buttons in your image
Oh, Yeah I'm going to use those for the Parking brake and trailer Brake
so many toggle switches
so many toggle switches
@spiral yew
Hey, being a Jeeper you should know toggles are the best π
Lol toggle switches :)
Damn yeah that's a nice racing rig right there.
Ya, 30 assignable functions, well more because each switch is 2 (Up,Down) and all potentiometer are variable, (Left,Right) plus the ones on my shiter, plus the ones on my wheel...It's a lot of switches π
My G920 all of a sudden has intermittent steering every time I steer when the truck is moving. But when the truck is not moving in-game, the steering is normal. Please help!
That would require a video of some kind to figure out what you are explaining
What USB board did you use for your project @chrome prism How many inputs does it support?
What USB board did you use for your project @chrome prism How many inputs does it support?
@hidden shell
It supports 12 "buttons" but it also had joystick control input. It's one of the cheapest ones. If it works out how I think it should be fine.
Very nice and cheap ! Keep us updated on your progress
Thank you and will do, this virus is kinda holding it up but it shall all pass.
are the corsair rgb cooler silent?
@eager fossil going by a very fast google search yes they are the silentest ones from them
Can someone plz help me out with the intermittent steering on my g920!!!??? I wanna get back to trucking but cant.
@sand valley every time I steer left or right it is not smooth, it will feel
normal then it will feel like not wanting to steer then normal again
Drivers?
I have, and it does not want to work with either
do you have another pc?
I do not
damn
yeah
i do, i tried it on fs19 and it works just fine, but it does not wanna cooperate with ets nor ats
I have, not to sound rood, but thats what I have done the past three days
okay
umm
go into device manager
first unplug it
then delete the device in device manager
use some driver uninstaller to compleatly remove it
dont leave a trace of the driver on your system
Alrighty, do you have a link for that?
okay, i did
okay
