Well she isn't wrong completely, if you buy from a local shop, you can contact them easily if there's any issues with parts or anything else instead of sending emails/making phone calls to some company which is not near you

You could try going the route of buying the parts and make them build it for you
you still get the technical support etc
but its still miles cheaper
and offers better upgradebility
