The only experience I have driving manual is an old pickup that should have been on the road that I drove across town somehow.

There's a truck I'm going to learn off of, 10 speed Sterling. I was hoping to move to an excavation company but I got up on the steps to one of their trucks to talk to the driver and saw a "PRNDL". Nope. Manual or nothing 😆 I look forward to the misery of learning manual - I know the concepts, I just have to get the practice of shifting up/down, starting/stopping.

I read the book...it has some entertainment in there for ya 😉. When I did the testing today, some questions seemed like a "no win" situation; either all seemed to be incorrect or multiple seemed correct. Most of the questions were just a how well do you remember what you read.

I spent 2 and 1/2 hours at the DMV. I came in at 8 (when they open) and got the printed temporary license around 10:30

I had a wheel fall off whilst going by a cliff edge that was probably a couple 100 meters down and the entire lorry was leaning on the wheel that had come off and we had 3 horse on, police had to close the road and we got another lorry to come get the horses and later on we found out the second wheel behind the one that had fallen off (the wheels at the back that have 2) had also fallen off so if we had driven a meter further we would have fallen off the cliff but it had been too the garage the week before to do something with the breaks and they had tightened the nuts by hand but not with the machine so yeah

@clear ore They charged me rent to stay there, the costs to get the learning permit, and other misc charges. I had negative paychecks because they were deducting so much money out of my check for them to get my CDL. I can't remember every deduction they took out but it was a lot. This was back in 2008 when I did all of this. The contract I did was for 8 months and I didn't see a real paycheck till after 6 months with them. I basically lived off cash advances the whole time. It was horrible. Starting pay was .12 a mile. I'm sure the rookie wages have gotten better since then though. At least I hope so.
