air suspension
Also my drawbar doesnt lift with air anymore, dunno what broke on it
i mean, i never bother checking the alignment of the drawbar, because i can see it from the front axles of the trailer and its mudflaps that i am alligned straight with it
(Dont do this muzolf yet)
untill you absolutely know your truck and trailer, and that the trailer never changes, you can start to trust in it
Meh, i can aling myself to the trailers tits to pull it on
Without going outside
Its harder than reversing into the drawbar btw
They need to be just right
yeah?
Otherwise a big oopsie can happen
if you cant hit the cones infront of the trailer that fine tunes your position with the trailer, you wouldnt hit even the eye of the drawbar
Still my favorite trucking picture
The wheels on the box wont connect with the tracks on the truck
And it will go where it pleases
Nope
Flashback to january
Oof
Hah! I've waited 12 hours to get loaded only to be turned away because they loaded my shipment onto another truck
what is this lazy man job? not even loading yourself
tell me about it dog
No need
me neither
Mirrors
Can usually slide the fifth wheel in properly just by watching the trailer sidewalls
Also dog, tell me how a human should reverse an 1+2 trailer with 6x4
Tag not lifted
I didnt manage to do it well
zig zag
I bought a car with a backup camera and it's just a nusiance
I can go another two feet, stop beeping please
duomatic is the only true air connector
Duomatic?
and VBG electric brick is the only true electrical connection
??
Not always
Do you just back into it and it connects...?
Ohh
its 5 seconds and all of them are off
dropping or picking the trailer up shouldnt take more than 20 seconds anyways
you can get all those cables off in single movement
God I wish it was that easy here.
I hate handcrank landing gear
limeryn, everyone here uses drawbars, so take this all with a pinch of salt π
only thing that may come close to it was the hydraulic landing gears on the lowbed trailer, but even those you just pulled a valve and they went up and down
"legs"
Long drawbars ftw
ewww
its a casette thing
hah, cute
Cali spec drawbars for doubles are insane
drawbar is cute only when its like 1.5 metres
Its long because it needs to not be on the way
hmm true
And its better to turn
since it falls under the axles when you are doing casette stuff
I'd also think a long enough drawbar would distribute weight better
drawbars dont distribute weight
Exactly
they dont carry any weight
It would snap instantly if it has much weight on it
drawbars shouldnt carry weight, well not with dollys
yup
they are mounted on a hinge
the manual one is rated for 25 tons, the pneumatic ones everything from 50 tons up to 100 tons
If you're going over a short bridge it would lengthen the distance between the two payloads and allow the bridge to handle it though, no? Because axles would be coming on to the bridge as others are leaving it
the manual hitches are illegal anyways if you are pulling full weight full trailer
yeah
and weak bridges are usually so small you have no right to go there anyways
if youre too heavy, youre too heavy
π
I'm probably the only American driver here or one of few at the least
Aaand im stuck
00F
you appear to just go for it, like no attempt was made to inspect ground conditions? π
"no time for doubting!"
braaaaaahhh
π
why does opticruise shifting sound so satisfying?
coolest truck I've found on my travels so far
Rocky Mountain Double logger
In hecking Wyoming of all places
That thing looks nuts
if its got a hiab, its more of a truck than most imo
you can see the chassis flexing
as the front stabiliser is off the ground
crazy forces
on a truck
The skill that must go into operating that π
nah, hiabs arent too bad, just need a bit of knowledge about slinging, and rigging. and what NOT to do with the cranes
Wait a minute, doesn't Bambi drive those?
easiest bit is controlling it
hardes bit is setting up
to optimise lifitng capability
Oooh
enjoy this quality recording of most useless boredom ever
https://youtu.be/45LgP3MWHaE
Last load, we dont do welcomes
That entire truck sounds amazing @rustic bolt
yeah
If I had anything though
It'd be an open piped Scania V8
they never heard the V8s in the murica..
this is when it was brand new..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIHgpNiUG4I
450hp, 2350Nm "60" tons errrhm... Phone ran out of space in the end..
that wasnt a v8 was it tho....
t hought so
That turbo π
Ours are so quiet it aggravates me
lol
the turbo woosh really comes through on a full load, quite obvious naturally since the cab sits fairly close to the engine, as opposed to in R and taller cabin models
and since the engine tunnel is fairly tall in a G cab
kojach
not even open piped
2011 510 daf
Man.
You guys get to drive rigs I can only dream of in places I'll probably never see
never say never, i never thought i would get to where i am now. a lot can change in a few years
My girlfriend wants to see about moving to another country though... So maybe
She was wanting to visit Finland and Sweden
I want to as well
heh
Is English a rather common language there...? Or will I be screwed?
english is spoken yes
wewt
Ralli english
how much you will understand it.. is a different thing
Ohhh
https://youtu.be/0d_xT4GMYZo
This is finnish english
Sen verran paljon on pyydetty rallienglanti pÀtkÀÀ, ettei sitÀ voinut enÀÀ vastustaa. Satoja pÀtkiÀ tuli kaivettua lÀpi, ettÀ lâytyi jotain harvinaisempaa ku...
Well I can understand pretty much any accent if I can understand northern Irish and Southern Louisianian
can you understand accents outside of US?
Yup
then you might have chance
Had no trouble understanding that guy
Having friends from other countries has helped me out a lot c:
Thanks, online gaming
"Describe your day in more than three words."
"Uhh... Not very good. Today. That's four!"
π
So, Dog... What are the requirements for acquiring a HGV license in Finland?
π
Genuinely curious π
So pretty much the same as here
same thing
π
No!

Guys
Pls
I'm wheezing
but really, i prefer these. always handy to keep a good box of minis just incase i get caught out
Can't wait to buy a new fridge so I can have proper food again
you got fridge and microwave?
sneaky scania
Oh that's the same company Swiss Pink used to work for
I am headed to the Test Site in just a few minutes. I hope to have my CDL License today.
Gl
π
Did you just borderline swear
π
language boi
@maiden swan ^ might want to delete
theres probably kids watching here
Tbh, they have no reason to. This for the big kids
wasnt bout sam his is pretty ok how he said but other said it purely u know
Wut? U having a stroke?
it got deleted
am confused
Same
I'm about to drive our semi for the first time in about an hour π
Nice pic, sam
It's that China numba one phone doing all the job
It's professional photography skills getting the good pic.
As we've found out from other users, having a china numbaaa waaan phone can still result in trash photos.
Lies
Its for pictures in general
No, pictures chat is for any pictures (that donβt go against the #discord-rules)
@brisk hill Also there is another one above
ok sorry
that's my rig in real life
Pic off the internet..
Wannabe truckers can stop pretending now and just go back to playing those fine SCS games, no need to try to pretend something you are not. You arent any cooler person with google images
@spice stag I hope you know that reverse image search is a thing and your picture is clearly from the internet
Holy shhhiiii... Why have so many mongs just arrived all of a sudden. This is for people who actually drive trucks not wannabes.
Read People. There's cba nel descriptions for a reason.
that is a nicely specced gallardo
Does anybody have like, a super cool light setup? Iβve been wanting to see a super decked out truck but the only person irl I know with a truck passed away recently :c any helpers?
what are you looking for?
I dont have cool looking lights, just ones that light up better than old xenons or other crap.. and they are fairly clean looking
Ah lies Dog, you have your Mr Cool Boi Poppys lighting up half of Finland! xD
Just anything that looks sweet π
Stunning ππ
And some bad days you need to drive these old shits..
And then theres the absolute garbage views that comes with the job
π
Made it to the hotel for orientation tomorrow morning. I am so ready
No, a P
It's like you guys don't realize there are flip-down visors in real trucks
It's like you dont realise a visor is an external object
Americans dont have those
Yeah, most companies here don't buy external visors because, get this, they cost money.
So instead, since I can't remember when, you have flip-down sun visors inside the cab. Some people put mirrors on them... Damn valley girls that need to do their makeup while driving. And other people just use them as... Well... Sun visors.
I just realized I don't have ANY pictures of these and I'm in Louisiana right now so yeah
But you can see it folded up in this picture
Unfold that flap and you get like a six inch adjustable sun visor inside the cab
Visors come stock in almost every brand
Not in the US
Polarised screens are disgusting
Companies spec their trucks with less stuff to save money at the cost of the drivers...
Those are flip up visors found inside the cab
Smh...
@rustic bolt well that is my big rig i use to drive big rigs but i lost my cdl
@thick cedar i got sun visors in my rig
@rustic bolt but i'm going to turn my big rig into a rv
Lmao
He likes to say big rig, I'll give him that.
B I G R I G
I heard he lost his CDL cause he said big rig too much
Best way to prove that is your truck, is to take a picture, with a piece of paper with your username.
Yes it has no sunvisor outside, but scania has thought of people who ride the seat low, normally the sunvisor is just too short for you, and sun manages to shine in to your eyes, in NG they jave put a 2nd folding sun visor insode the first one @serene mason
Also these joyous places where sun shining from both mirrors and you are supposed to hit that dock inside the building
I see more and more scanias run white outline markers and amber ones for the 3 middle mariers
I guess it's "law" to have white outer markers there as well
basically the yellow "truckmarkers" are illegal in vehicles like newer than 2005 here
but you get away with just having a button to turn them off
Im never coming back here
the original reason for the 3 yellow lights in the center was, that it marked a truck pulling a trailer
you can get them as amber or white from scania
It's a shame you can't break into the lamps to play with the leds
its funny tho, it looks like it would have somekind of visor, but to inside, you never see those
those lights are somewhere above the window
wouldnt be suprised if you'd get access to them from the cabinets above the window
they arent embeded into the glass after all
but behind it
and i really like the yellows, the white ones were kinda boring
Even better
Mechanics must love looking for dirty magazines in the cupboards when they're changing lamps
or in our case, a microwave in the center cupboard
Also might be close that i'm starting to invade Noxii's territory very soon..
had an intresting call with certain company
Microwave in the centre cupboard seems to be the norm for scanias
because its centrally accessable and its the biggest cupboard
the driveside one is wierd shape and usually contains all the documents and spareparts
Both my left locker and right locker are taken up by documents.
microwave in the center, documents in the left, food stuff and coffee on the right
Crane certs, risk assessments, lifting gear certs. Hire books. Load of paper work
You got cupboards above the bed dog?
no
Ah neither do I, just another bunk
as far as i know its a custom fit if you want to switch the top bunk and the cupboards around
Yeah, our other hiab has cupboards in the new gen r
Bit that came from Scania like that
But the bed is handy for longer stuff like my height stick. You wouldn't be able to fit that in a cupboard as it's over a meter long.
thats waht the toolboxes are for
I don't have toolboxes π
..
If I wanted one I would need to move the diesel tank then maybe I would have room for one.
I generally have problem finding use for the toolboxes
I could fit a spare engine into the toolboxes i have left over
I'll take them
how much scania truck irl
Depends on spec
like average
depends on use
Idk like for a simple unit
not second hand
i dont know, a koleka model might be about 100k
currency?
Gbp
thatβs sounds right
Our 730 was 150k I think, maybe bit less
bare minimum spec that you never want to drive
I know mines 250k new
idk if I wanna do trucking when Iβm older
i think the P was around 200k including chassis and fridges etc
or 225k
it came at a discount tho
how expensive v8 engine scania
You're not going to need one
i donβt even know if i am gonna do trucking when i am older cos my parents probably wonβt let me
lets just say, you aint going to get into this business if you dont have brain damage or arent stubborn enough
or rather.. If you think about money, find another career
but thatβs for almost anything
no, but trucking especially
if you want to be rich, this is not the way
yes, you get compensated for the time on the job, But the time on the job may be all you do
and end up going home just to sleep and change underwear
i mean i go to a grammar school where lots and lots of people get full time scholarship for university
But what's the point of being rich of you don't enjoy it? Would rather enjoy my days and want to go back to work then hate my days and want to stay at home.
thatβs true
precisely
i have thoughts on being a pilot
good luck
thx
i'd certainly be a pilot, but this is next best thing to the office views
i am yr8 student in grammar school
so I will focus on studies for now and play ets2mp
no wonder the europe is infested with kolekas
Oh dear
Well trucking is the road equivalent of a public shithole school, and car drivers are like the grammar schools of the road
π
If you want people giving you abuse on the regular, cutting you up and flipping you off then be a trucker
Can approve
Also there are 2 big categories, driver who spend at least the working week on the road and people who are home every night, who also graft their asses off to get the job done and get back
So you'll either be one of three things, someone who backs onto bays, someone who works like a silly bigger, or someone who wants to do either and then buckles when they realise how hard this job actually is
Not just physically, but mentally. Driving for 4.5 hours can be really hard work in you, which is why we are all mental cases
it's a pretty stressful job. I do and don't miss it. the times and stress were horrid, but it did give a great satisfaction to do
It all depends on what kind of work you do, who you work for and what area your work is in
And if you get to go to London then you might as well take a noose with you
city driving is no bueno, especially when you have to go to city centres
and during rushhour... then you might as well jump out the window of your nearest office building
@rustic bolt what was your signature on one of the forums about a driver's viewpoint
He had it down to a tee
Also if you don't like waiting on other people then it ain't the job for you
My biggest tip for any driver though
Always have baby wipes on hand
glasscleaner too
Glass cleaner won't help you when you're stuck in a massive tailback and you need a shit
I doubt you'd wanna sit back down after though
neither would you after a massive dump
Not if you have baby wipes π
Never thought to hold it in...
Do it out the wiindow

but yeah, when nature calls, you gotta go
better to be prepared
roll of toilet paper is a good call too, though wipes have a little more of a clean feeling
Ah yes, the joys of tramping. Can't say I would like it. I don't mind staying away but every night is a bit much for me
I just get the odd one a week sometimes none
π
Nice Google picture
yeah thats what i thought too lol
Too bad it don't belong here
A picture of a truck doesn't belong in a truck chat lol
Are you a real life trucker? Cool! Share your truck pics and experiences here! For random truck pics, use #photos
King @brisk hill pls do something
Hows that any different than jollis pictures? Neither include context @stable lynx
@limber vale its JΓΆllis truck. Thats the difference
so a random pic of his truck..gotcha
Its not random truck from the interweb tho. You can post random pics of your truck, not random trucks from interweb or that you see on the road
Just because gamer pulled it from the web doesn't mean there cant be a relation between them, you're assuming
What if he was in the parade
again assuming he doesn't drive
He drives. Trust me. I have known jΓΆlli for quite some time
Not talking about jolli, ive been here over a year maybe 2 not sure i know he does, im talking about gamer
Well you can find that exact picture from google
wannabe truckers goes into the #photos real ones post here
google image truckers included in the above
So i cant post a image of a similar truck that i drive because its simply from the web?
no, because its not your truck, and not your image
and nobody belives you with the google images anyways
o.o
doesnt say it needs to be my truck, just not a random picture with no context
if you arent a truck driver, get out
simple
βShare your truck pics and experiences here!β
i can have pics of trucks that i do not own, but still my truck pics
or, experiences
if you drive that specific truck, and you happen to take the pictures.. then you can
Wannabe truck driver =/= truck driver
Whos the wannabes here?
you by the looks of it
you obviously haven't been following along..this wasn't about me lol it was about gamer π
Gamer is wannabe trucker too
Call him what you want but dont try to call me out assuming you know me, or what i do for living
I know you do, i was never questioning that
Ah
@rustic bolt By the looks of what, made you assume I'm a pretend truck driver?
you seemed to be up defending that gamer guy
never know with people of this discord
We have also had wannabe Fiat driver
i wouldnt assume the worst of someone you dont know..doesnt come off as friendly
And our straight truck
heh lazy mans truck, no need to even tie the load
the pallets?
yeah
ya unless you flip over, if wrapped properly they arent really shifting ha
i mean there is no other way to efficiently load thos water bottles, you wouldn't like to put another pallet on top of an other
sure you can
heck no
just not as heavy one
rip water bottles if you do
i'v done floorloads of water bottles and some lightweight poisonous green vegetables on top
fit 18 pallets of 32cs in that sucker
i've seen trailers with a sort of "shelf" in the middle, just beams on a track that could be removed for loading
ah yeah, the loading bars
this
These things
mine can be removed raised or lowered
so can mine
they rest in the ceiling for the most time
handy things, basically doubles your entire cargo space
40 palletspace becomes 80
or 60 and 120 with my current trailer
This was a fun day
Was running a route in the freeport mine in globe when i had some serious probs
worked in there for 2 yrs as a contractor
thats a nice van
lol our columbia isn't gonna fit where that can @stiff sand
thats because you get trucks with silly front ends that are not needed
Your cabover still aint gonna fit in the mine in which our "van" is used haha
Actually it isn't wasted, it allows for a flat floor
yup
america doesn't have the length limits that we have in the eu and their roads are a lot larger
ya that with a trailer isnt going in there
yes it does, but its a lot higher off the ground
oh i keep forgetting Americans cant climb my bad ! π
lol
Why consolidate for space if we dont have to?
make life alot easier but then again i dont live in my truck cos im not mental
nah doesnt make life easier lol
A shorter Truck = Shorter turning circle = easier life and u dont have to look over a huge silly bonnet
and no problem leave the bucks for me π
or you get used to it and becomes second nature, not making life any harder lol just excuses
seems many accidents are had because you cant see over that front though !
and how much energy is the front of your cabover gonna absorb? oh ya thats right lol
that doesn't usually happen
mainly because you just leave more space at the front
the videos show alot of accidents because itrs a huge blind spot
its also making your vehicle less manoeuvrable. and if youve never had a challenge when manoeuvring due to your trucks turning radius then you must be new to the business
American trucks are still coolio
Because eu trucks dont have all the nice things
Like big american diesels and gearboxes π
Expect like 3 brands
long nose trucks are still the sexiest tbh
like shit american diesels and the only good manual
gotta admit they probably cool to drive. but anything semi long distance nah thanks
actually, american trucks are better for long distances
mainly because they have a larger cab
So, I got to meet my company, get a tour of a truck, learned how the shop works, and get assigned a trainer. Now, I am on my way home for the weekend.
errrr, no
for longer distances i would much rather a comfy euro cab
which is wider
and more spacious for driving
with better vision
not the 1900s pieces of metal theyve got
π
And actually insulated
Considering I am 6' tall and fit inside a American truck on it's bed without touching any walls, as well as stand in the truck with my arm extended up and not touch the roof. Then there is all the storage space. And modern trucks are insulated enough to muffle the truck sound to almost nothing.
You could argue the fact of which truck is the best until the end of days but one thing I agree on is that when it comes to living space the American trucks has an upper hand, however we can't have that here as in most countries here they count the entire combo towards max allowed length so smaller the cab the more cargo you can haul
Also our turning radius is way better compared to the none existing of some of the American trucks and I wouldn't wanna drive some of those on the kinds of roads we manouver around here.
Also one more thing to take note in i would say suspension wise, engine wise, gearbox wise, dashboard wise, and on many other compartments some American brands seem to be stuck in the stone age with. I can almost promise that if I got my Scania over there during winter I'd be able to drive in way worse conditions than most American trucks can handle.
I'm not trying to say ours is better but it seems like ours get fitted to do a job and do it good and nothing more or less, we got all the things we need in our trucks.
honestly
I wish Freightliner had sold enough of the Argosy and KW had continued production of the K100 in the states.
I want a good cabover.
Not to mention atleast we can control the damn airbags individually front and back,
So you arent wiping all the 5th wheel grease into the front lip of the trailer as you go under
I've seen people do that even with air suspension.
Stupid is as stupid does.
yup
same here :(
Ahhhw
how did that happen? Brake failure?
highly doubt it was brake failure
got to be hell of an failure to lose brake power on all 3 axles
Forgot handbrake? π€
more likely
@thick cedar : Swiss ?
@latent quail @rustic bolt @cosmic condor
According to the driver, he lost the brake fluids, but it's pneumatic fevers π€
ye
Impossible
so its brake failure, nice
thats true though
Something else happened
According to him huh, but the police found a liquid but that is not brakes, an investigation is underway because down the street there was a market and if he would have done the descent he could have killed people
The drivers dumb as hell if he thinks trucks uses hydraulic brakes
I do not understand, honestly, how did he do that ... An investigation is underway because he may be nearly killed people
Yes, good he drove into a wall rather than people though
I hate when my brake fluid leaks in my truck
honestly
and i need to refill it every day
But i highly doubt of brake failure
Me too, I think he was on the phone. According to witnesses he was stopped because there were trucks before him and at the time of starting he lost the brakes? strange
π€ Β¨
Only way to brakes fail totally, is for the brake pads to be worn out entirely, or the S cam to not operate the brake lever, and still, impossible for all 6 of the brakes fail same time, and if pressure is lost at any point of the system springs engage the brakes
I hope that would happen in my trailer
If your pedal fails, it will most likely then leak out air and engage brakes, and lastly, you can always pull the parking brake lever midway to stop
hell, i pushed it around a parking lot today
because the brakes werent engaged
and i tried to get it ontop
After you must know that we drive for SwissPost so the truck runs almost 24/24 ... It arrives at the depot and leave 10 minutes later.
Yes, 24/7 3 shift is a normal today for most trucks
And the drivers do not pay attention to the trucks so maybe it was already defective
Those who have a lorry drive 15 hours a day and it was not often checked.
But after your trucks are maintained and ours not because the boss does not care, he thinks of the money
I mean waaaait
I still belive its the driver
You're talking about brakes that are controlled by air and engaged in full lockdown if there's a leak
We arent like americans, our trucls are designed with backup failsafes
Dog you saw about that Scania in Sweden that went on a "Speed" trip recently and ended up out in a field?
No
Oh, well there was this Scania truck that had some issues with the brakes in Sweden too and went full speed towards a populated town, the popo managed to get a farmer to build an off ramp into a field of his and then they guided the truck safely onto it so it sank into the dirt and stopped
Air brakes in American trucks kick on at about 30 pounds of air left in the system. I don't get where you people are saying American trucks are old and not safe.
Well, the goal was not to start a debate on it so let's stop the discussion and let's talk about truck
Now it looks like Scania have had a look at the computers in that truck and it seems like the driver didn't even try to use the retarder or engine brake
Because ypur trucks are ancient, you barely even have basic ABS system in american trucks and trailers
Actually that is something you'll have to watch now as you'll start driving in Norway Dog
Brale temperatures yes
If you have a faulty ABS on your trailer they wont let you drive an inch
Obviously
Same here. A faulty ABS system is a no go on the roads
In Sweden it's pretty standard to drive without that tho xD
The brakes on the dolly of my trailer drag
f that
the clutch is saying nope already
True true
automatic brake ratchets are not cool
In dry asphalt you can manage it yourself too
Automatic brale adjusters are brilliant
Just stop driving worh koleka trucks jΓΆlli
hmm π€
Ha you really think he'll do that?
The brakes were just changed a week ago
No
He's gonna sit there in his rebuilt Renault and go like "I love Eaton, I'll marry Eaton" blablabla
Judging from the amount of casettes they drop and trucls they tip
Might pass Girteka soon with all the accidents
we havent had an accident in our company for ages
A ditch a day keeps the koleka away! π
so not raelly
Yes but almost weekly you have pictures of someone who has
Somebody got to keep the towing companies on business for the summer, untill the annual koleka slipping season begins in october
https://gyazo.com/42ba8b36f3a10ecaeeed4b16f7df46cf Also dog, i found an longer drawbar than mine
looks very unpractical honestly
thats honestly longer than the truck itself probably
after watching another video of an american doing the thingy
why have i never put my gloves where the drawbar ends
i usually end up going too far or too close, so it's pain in the
you never used the oldest book in the trip in your CE driving test?
your glove "accidentally" happens to drop right in perfect spot like 0.5 metres before drawbar hitting the hitch
i guess you did it with a semi trailer π€£
This was my first load ever as a truck driver. Crazy as hell to secure.
why on earth were they stacked like that?
Only thing I can think of was the crane operator was in a hurry lol.
You have to stack them like that cause those moves easy forward and sideways. And chains are the best way to stack!
maybe its just me, but i like to keep things down low. less swaying.
and we have wooden floors so less chance of sliding
those pieces of wood in the middle look like theyll just want to slide on the smooth metal
~it works better then uthink
It provides spacing so the forklift and can remove it from the back of your tuck
duh
yeah, but you can still have spacing and have them low down
you just dont stack them up like that
lower centre of mass
and less swaying
or perhaps.. spread them out more on the trailer
rather than piling them all up in 1 singple place
Surprised you weren't made to use edge protection on that metal @marble raptor
No need to. It wasn't the thin sheet metal. It was thicker slabs. On the thinner stuff we need too.
Could anyone of the real truckers here tell me the difference between the retarder and the engine brake? I looked it up on wikipedia, is it really that simple?
afaik the engine brake closes valves at the engine intake and exhaust pipe... the retarder transforms kinetic energy into thermal energy and also uses an eddy current brake. I wonder why the engine brake is weaker then... lol
most engines dont even play with the valve timing at all
thats jake brake anyways
the loud useless thing americans use
exhaust brake is a flap that closes, usually located right after exhaust manifold and before turbo
by far, the retarder is most powerful and effective method of slowing down
well, okay then. Thanks for helping me out ^^
speak for yourself, those scania v8 exhaust brakes are enough to lock up the tyres in low gears
i found that out for myself, nearly snapped the drive shaft when it caught again
all you do with the scania exhaust brake is crack the manifold
Yes
Doesn't work below a certain gear though. Mine shuts off in low range it seems or very little resistance
@clever shell Random truck pictures go in #photos unless its pictures of your own vehicle that you're driving. See the channel topic for more information
@glossy zodiac nice internet picture
Then its on the wrong channel

i thought #pictues is only for in game photo
Just read the bio
Well technically you're not a real trucker either yet Hatsu so
I drive a truck irl tho
Well I drive a boat sometimes too that doesn't make me a captain

Hello Adito, oh cool
π
but i cant play :((
Good noxii

do i see a plane?
no its a lego
whatcha doing there
Bringing gravel
Think about it
What goes under asphalt?

Oh, is it gravel Jolli?
Yes

But this load was 0-55mm so idk if it gets used
Since you were a tipper driver, what was the most common gravel size you drove? @paper bear
well i was a hiab driver, then i was on tippers for 6-7 months, then on a flat and now back to my home territory. the hiab
but we were most commonly on type 1 sub base, which is maximum size of like 60-65mm
with every other size all the way down to dust
so that it can compact neatly
fill the gaps
Weird
We dont have those
0-16 6-16 0-32 16-32 0-55 0-90 are the most common here
Almost everyday business
Lol

Hahahahahha we're sure you do! π€£

Another night of bridge gurters and deck plates
So, I'm not a trucker, but I do have a little story from when I worked at Walmart. Basically, we had a bunch of DBR (damaged beyond repair) shopping carts that were due to be shipped out for scrap. We had a little over a hundred carts when the truck showed up.
The only way to load the carts into the trailer was through the back room docks. All the carts on the far side of the building away from the docks. I ended up being nominated for the job, moving all the carts behind the building and then pushing them in and loading them solo about five at a time.
That ended up taking a good few hours (driver had to wait for an open dock as well) but it was a nice break from my normal routine, and the longest I'd ever been in a semi trailer. π
In the word driver, there is no walmart assistant.
Anyhow, it's nice to help out sometimes
no but here its expected for drivers to actually do something else than just sit on their ass and hold the wheel
they actually work
Hello guys this is my Truck i am a German Driver
hello German Driver, i'm dad
That's actually a good looking Volvo (you won't hear me say that again) and actually I think the older FH is still looking better compared to the newer FH and it also ran better
This is primarily an English Discord, but you can head over to #579776826600325130 and react with the emoji flag of the country with the specified language (e.g. :flag_pl: for Polish). You can then access that language's channel.
also gtfo from real life trucking
the older model FH was a fantastic truck
Yeah a friend of mine tried everything they could to kill one, they reved it liked crazy everywhere and everything but it just didn't wanna die xD
i never had issues with mine either, had great experience with it
The only thing I don't like with them is that they're wobbly so you basically need to eat seasick pills like they're tic tacs before driving one and the seating configuration isnt any good either
huh, never felt that way noxii. maybe i got used to it very quick, but it didn't feel wobbly to me
koleka
?
u dont live in russia?
everything is in french and american trucks
New hweels
Damnit ππππ
koleka problem

Dang Mr Vodka Baguette being naughty @dull sinew
What I am hauling today.
Yeah better have these cable reels properly attached, it would be a shame if they started rolling out
Nah, it doesn't walk in.
In the U.S, we use things like forklifts and pallet jacks. On occasion we have to get out. But 90% of the freight I haul, I do not even see much less touch. Budweiser and Pepsi are the exceptions, I have to put load locks on their loads and make sure they're secure. Outside of that they do everything else, as they have employees specifically paid to handle the task of loading and unloading a trailer. We're quite fortunate in that regard. Unless you work as a vendor, going from store to store with soda, meat, chips, etc. In specific load quantities (LTL.), you don't usually have to touch anything apart from a load securement bar or straps.
Our system is done on an "as-needed" basis here.
We don't ship months worth of product, we ship maybe three to five days worth. It doesn't fill the stock room, but even if it did, it is their job to stock it and they get paid for that just like I get paid to ship it. Just as forklift ops get paid to unload it, etc.
I've worked in stocking before.
Received semi trucks all the time.
At my little store we only ever got two or three pallets of product, and because it was LTL and a tiny store the drivers did in fact unload it because it was above our pay grade. But we broke down pallets and stocked shelves.
LTL and Local drivers get waaay better pay (Hourly instead of miles)
Yup, and it's basically your only choice if you want to do long haul here.
Ahh
We used to get those at the little store I worked in
Gotta call breakdown... One low beam out, one high beam out, and I've sprung an air and a coolant leak along with having a leaky trailer tire.
All within the last six hours of driving. :/
Parking brakes are actually delayed by a few seconds and if I uncover the brake after engaging the parking brake it rolls forward
It's so sketchy
That's true. C:
I've already replaced the right high beam twice on this truck and that's out again. Within two months, three bulbs died
oh god
Yeah, today I also had to have four trailer tires changed... It's insane how many people aren't inspecting these trailers
I do my best to not be lazy, because I really don't feel like getting a ticket
Or killing an innocent family
Other guys don't care, they hook and go
True that, best friend had made sure his trailer was attached before pulling forward. He pulled forward 15ft and the fifth wheel jaw came open and dropped it.
Did his tug test, visually inspected the lock, whole nine yards
Still failed
It was there for a day and a half π just right in the way
Yeah, i pulled trailer with cables similarily, the pin dropped far enough that TAV's indicator showed green, tugged it front and back, and when i go in, I go in with power once I hear it clack, usually enough to spin the drivewheels if the trucks empty and axles high... all looks right, threw in duomatics, ABS, electrics etc... take off, trailer comes 2 metres with me and then decides to stop there, luckily only the duomatic lines were pulled off the connector, ABS and electrics and the andersson had enough slack cable inside the drawbar so it was 3 minute fix to just put slip in new collars for the duomatic and then put the lines back to the connector
I work for Dollar General, I unload every bit of my trailer by myself, between 35,000-45,000 lbs in every trailer. 5-6 trailers a week 3-5 stops a trailer. I have no machines to help, and I have not had any person from any store help yet.
I too.. load my combination, and unload it myself in the same night every day
That's dollar general for you. Family dollar is the same
lol
very interesting landscape there
Honestly makes me want to run a drawbar setup
28 metres of goodness
I drive 12 hours a day, unload my cargo by myself
The flattest land I ever saw
Still not even 10k steps a day
Indiana is a bunch of nothing
Spmethings wrong
Pretty nothing
But nothing
Beautiful Scania.
Jelly
I can only imagine.
I still say, if I could have any Euro truck, it would be a V8 Scania.
no need for V8 if you're not in scandi tbh
But the noise π smiles per gallon
poorly fitted engine for the job is not good thing
Where I'm from, more power is never a bad thing at 10,000ft in the mountains
7% grades suck
The only thing keeping me on Dollar General, is the pay. I bring almost $1,200 a week before taxes, and I am home every weekend
Trundling along at 25MPH...
if you dont have engine that works at almost full load all the time, you going to end up with clogged up unhealthy engine that eats oil, unneccessary diesel and generally gets left behind by lesser ones with engine in tick
Huh, today I learned
once in while in the peak times we take rental trucks out to fulfill the needs, they usually end up being R500 or R560 or something in that neighbourhood.. and they all are lazy as hell.. to a point with identical loads.. im flying past in my 450 scania
O.o
they V8, mine straight 6
That's... Weird.
most likely overkill engines for the job they were used for, loads of iding and "poor kilometres" meaning not proper workloads for the engine of its size, so it runs cold
I still don't know how diesels run, entirely. @~@
I generally keep my foot to the floor π bad for the automatic clutch I'm sure but that's the way they tell me to run it
just like with computer power supplies, you dont want the 1500W PSU for 700W constant load.. you rather want 850 or 1000W, because they run at the most efficiency at like 85% or 90% loading, where it consumes the least power to the waste heat generated
I've been doing that less though... Now that I hear grinding I'm thinking my assumption was correct
same goes for engines, you want one that works always at the 70-90% of its capabilities
Useful information for when I eventually get my own truck π
so in short.. 700HP is absolutely waste of money and fuel for pulling flowers for example
But would be good for pulling paper and beer?
in europe, you never need a V8 tbh in the south europe with the puny 44t limits, unless you specifically drive in like austria or alps in general, or in norway, where there are actually some hills
eeh
500-600 should be all enough
I think this rig I have is a 450
But the company turned it down
And it still averages 6/8 MPG thanks to the hills
Most of the trucks here with that kind of power run the mountains all the time. They don't run peak in the plains where most truck companies are located.
Gets 2.5MPG-ish going up the grades and I coast down the backside with the engine brake on
yeah, i dont know specifics of the american end, only that their weights are laughable and they have that axle sliding fetish
also could do with little more help with the automatics
I hate doing it. The yard I work from, you are supposed to have the tandems all the way back when you drop the trailer.
Yet most dont
why would you do that even?
That's basically all yards that I know of
So the forklift doesn't get jarred around by the ass end lowering and the front lifting I assume
Our trailers are particularly heavy on the rear due to the lift gate.
Meanwhile ours have roll-up doors π
oh right.. you just leave a trailer in dock, and get another one
Yup
I wish I had an assigned trailer.
Then I wouldn't have to fight for a damn empty every day
i was thinking like why would you slide them back when you have truck in the other end anyways
We slide our tandems back to reduce the weight on the trailer axles
Sliding them forward reduces the weight on the drive tires
And I could actually have a nice, clean, well-maintained trailer all the time that has no damage if I could just keep one
i just leave my trailer in 1 dock and put the truck into another one next to it, and then load them both in like 2 hours and then take off
Would love to do that
Only get that option if you're an owner operator though unfortunately
We get a trailer assigned to the truck before we even get current trailer unloaded completely
everyone does it here if theres enough doors empty to put both ends in same time
but most of the times you have to load up truck or trailer first
Hell, here at Navajo, other drivers will jack your congear (Doubles dolly) right off your truck while you sleep to use for themselves.
wtf?
We do not have enough equipment
I have seen a few Navajo trucks already
I'm sure you've seen the orange W990.
Not yet, that I can think of.
He runs the dedicated route in Indiana. And is our best driver at 3m miles
3m safe* miles I should say
Then possible. I run dedicated out of Marion
I cover Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan mostly
It's impossible to miss Charlie when you see him. C: that chrome wing shines for miles
Lol
i think bit of puke came up in my mouth
mention of chrome wing already sends me to the toilet
I was thinking of getting on the dedicated meat load runs, but you basically have to make 1500 miles in two days with a truck governed at 65mph
I run for US Xpress with a dollar general trailer.
I'm not good enough at planning to pull that off
$260 a day guaranteed though.
Would be an INSANE pay raise for me
That's why you run the v8s flat out all the time. Shoe it everywhere π
Sam has the right idea π
And bs, bet you my 580 would eat your 450, dudes probably had it in eco mode or something
yeah... only for a little G cab to slingshot itself past you
