But, it does not
drives a volvo has a renault picture/avatar
@thick cedar these are company trucks, I think they don't have a Renault there
@serene mason i have to share this with u
A few years old video
are these volvos meant to be this powerfull
its an fl6 btw
Black smoke is cool but it’s literally just unburnt fuel so in reality it’s just showing your engine isn’t working efficiently
Them 6 litres aren’t really that powerful either, probably like 230-250hp I think
Something is bronk
Fl7 is 230. Fl6 i dont know
@patent bolt i have to disagree on the 580 sounding better than the 730, once that 730 gets going it really roars
like really
Yeah it really roars as much as a microwave
just because you have a 580 doesnt mean you can slate the 730, 😄
i prefer the 730
its smoother
Well sure you do? Maybe they got a 580 for you too just sticking 730 logos on it? 🤔
Well is it customised then? Cuz I swear to god our 730s we have sound nothing compared to a working 580
do the 730s youve got have stacks?
there you go.....
Well ofc if sounds more if it’s customised to do so, even a Fiat Punto sounds more if it’s customised to do so xD
sorry, i thought we were talking about an open piped 580 vs open piped 730
stock vs stock i couldnt say
lets just agree they both sound very nice
True
We don’t really customise our trucks that much as we trade them in each 3rd year for new ones so ours is pretty basic
well our artics are customised, lit up like christmas trees too 😃
our 730 is plated for 80ton too
We aren’t allowed to add much lights to ours cuz “Norway” is being stupid...
?
Mine got 4 extra NBB highbeams and even that is illegal
even marker lights illegal?
Depends on what kinda, strict regulations to those too yeah
Norway, a country not in EU follows EU rules and regulations more than any other country...
If EU shouts jump Norway jumps 50 times over just to be certain EU is pleased
man that must suck
It sure does, so yeah having a beautiful truck here is basically illegal
aren't flags on the window also illegal
And if you get busted with such you face huge fines and need to remove them and show it to the public Norwegian road authorities within like a month or they’ll take your plates
Yeah
Bambi who do you work for mate
It is, they claim it’s “soooo dangerous” to have the tiniest of things in the window as it blocks your view
I hate that, in my region there are driving a lot of trucks but they're so stock
if I see one with grill lights it's already odd
Tbh though 4 spots are enough
Yeah I used to have the 💩 emoji in my window, got yelled at cuz that apparent was extremely dangerous
i work for a construction company @serene mason why?
Was just asking, didn’t know you drove 🤷🏻♂️
having a bit of a customized truck should show that you're experienced
Drive*
yeah, just a small company, but the bosses like their trucks 😃
Nice, scanias i guess?
yeah, thats the way they are going, used to have dafs but theyre slowly getting scanias instead
we move anything, from scaffold to plant
we also have a few hiabs (lorry loaders yo might call them) so we can get hired out for other things
all our hiabs are rigids
We have 2 scania hiabs, a rigid and an artic, a Volvo hiab that’s a rigid and 2 low loaders with hiabs
We only really deal with moving machines like CNCs, paper balers stuff like that
can you send a picture of your truck
730 is just too much
why do you need to take ur truck to the maxium
and get the most hp version of it
when you can literally do the same job with an 580 or 500 or 480
that's a stunning image and also a beautiful truck 👌 @patent bolt
depends what youre using the truck for @queen brook
Well here they drive 730 for 7t of flowers🤔 😂
😂
@queen brook fuel economy, you gotta keep in mind that unlike Finland and Sweden, Norway isn’t flat and we got loads and loads of mountains we cross with our loads which means that a 730 will prob make it faster and cheaper
@patent bolt and you feel like a boss with nobody being able to overtake you
Haha yeah it was funny as hell once, I drove a 25.25 from northern Norway down to Oslo via Sweden and then theres this "hill" that they call a mountain called "Skule" and all the Swedish companies with their 460s struggle sooo much to get up like doing 30/40 km/h and I drove an empty set R730 just flew past all of them at 90km/h xD
There’s a similar place in England called windy hill and I’ve been up it at 60t doing 80k while most trucks can’t even get over it empty without dropping a few gears
Theres a similar climb here aswell, in avg. Trucks go up 50-60kmh, i killed a volvo in there long time ago
I bet you were so happy with yourself haha
Yup
We all knew that too hard pull on the hill too slowly kills it
Turbo said thanks and goodbye
what's in Sweden on road trains
Been trying to park for over 10 min... I really think he should apply for Swift
I dont blame him, your trucks win no prizes in manouvering
I blame the driver, not the turning radius
True, but still they are bad
Compared to european trucks
Rare
Turning axles are for rookies
cave man trying to open coconuts with bare hands
guy comes along with a machete, open coconut with 2 hits
Caveman: "machetes are for rookies"
I think his opinion would change very quickly if he had to deliver to some of the places we do
Where their yard isn’t the size of a shopping mall parking lot
Indeed. Sometimes even too small for a car
i really would like to see a american truck driver doing with his own truck driving in europe.. bring goods to a supermarket.. they will regret they said something about turning axles are for rookies.. every monkey can drive forward with 90mph.. try that here on a highway.. or drive some in norway in the mountains..
In norway it would get stuck on first turn
Imagine how fun it will look when we get our Nikola One trucks...
terrible in america might be a lot different from terrrible in europe
we have villages that were designed when horse and carts were around
and havent changed
USA was built few hundred years ago at most, there is plentiful space compared to europe which has been built over and over again forever
then you dont?
I dont understand
How can reversing a semi be hard
???!!??
Finns would pull an 25,25 in that spot
Experienced drivers ofc
Seen a few American trucks in France, they seem to manage fine, usually big docks like XPO
Ew XPO
Good old Noberts
Norbert Dentressangle or XPO nowadays, Stobarts, Nolans are all trucks you avoid
And 8 wheeler tippers, they are crazy over here
not actual XPO trucks, I worked at an XPO depo a while back so saw a lot
including some twit reversing his trailer into the side of another truck
I mean it's not like they're lacking room.
Most box drivers on distribution work have it easy in Europe tho
All I did when I worked at the other place was either pull a fridge or a euroliner, boring work...
That’s when they let me out driving
All day in Amsterdam aint that easy tho..
Well I said most
Most of the people who work for the likes of stobart are just super truckers
not all
Wow too i was like in Amsterdam
I was there in Amsterdam
I know @serene mason but before some supertruckers of usa come we have it easy haha
Watch my funny Videos on Yotube, Enjoy it
Harder than it looks... like to see ya try
Hello 😉 is Fred 😃
Our cranes broke down in the middle of a lift 👌🏻
Lol gg
There’s a little vacuum pump that acts as like a choke for when it’s cold, and that’s stopped working so it keeps cutting out
So we’re both hiding until the mechanic shows his face
Gg
It fired back up again and didn’t miss a beat after that
had a hose burst on me in the middle of lifting a 20ft container once, just had to let it sit there till someone arrived with another hose
just felt and heard a thud whilst standing on the bed
then gushing of fluid
These hose ain’t loyal
So here's a question. What's the average L/100km for semi trucks in Europe.
Or what ever the fuel measurement thing is you use.
Mine is garbage
Average I’d say is probably 28
Generally anywhere between 26-32 would be an average
Ours goes about 1ltr on 2km but lot of shorts trips (mover). And is 24years old. The daf xf105.460 of a friend was average 1 on 3.1 and he got after that a r580 streamline that was average 1 on 3.7km.he did longer trips like 560+km and highways. Although a other friend had a r580 silver Griffin and does 1liter on 2.3km. Also short trips, about 360km a day
About 7.4-8.5mpg. not bad as today's estimate is 6mpg for America
How heavy do y'all think your total truck is. I'm estimating in America it's usually 34020kg(75,000lb's) for the average combined truck and trailer weight.
34 tonne whaaaat
Depending what trailer I have on, I can be up to 30t empty
With this I weigh nearly 30,000
And there’s big ass murica trucks running not even 40,000
I don’t get it
Laughable lol
I have 40t almost on trailer alone, and another 26000 on truck
Yeah my combo empty weight is like 25t alone
If we dont count the weight of the truck itself and the trailer
I usually take 25 into the trailer and 15 into the truck itself
A bit of overload
here our normal ones can weight up to 50t and heavy haul lot more
Here normal is 60-76t
The most I’ll have on is 65t with the 4 axle trailer, the big forklift and a machine
Its a Hino, thank you very much
Beautiful truck😍
Too many cabovers
then look at that 😛
@karmic galleon thanks ^^
This is for real life truckers, not kids riding shotgun or for google pics
Outta here
well mine pic's were the one were i drove on..
This is real drivers place
Tried snowing today tho
And I’m a Volvo man at heart but I do love piloting a decent v8
Found this rare picture
Before my drivers test
Only 2 years old :(
Nevermind
I didnt find it
hmm, a bit too cluttered for me, and that light box is errr, not very pleasing for me
infact, it is just the lightbox that is putting me off it,
its the lights in the grill that pisses me off
I've now decided I hate all truck drivers. I got seconds away from being driven into a ditch by a scania today. Check your mirrors before you just pull out you absolute morons.
what are the chances you were in his blind spot
I drive a fairly bright Blue VW, it's not invisible, I wasn't under the mirrors, yet he still forced me to lock my brakes to avoid ending up under his wheels
how close to the truck were you driving
I was on the motorway, so normal lane distance.
so it was just some slave driver who shoudlnt have license anyways
I was about ligned with his trailer wheels
or just dumbass
it was an Olano driver, they tend to have nice clean trucks so I always thought they were good drivers
usually some of the cleanest trucks on french roads
french company?
it is yeah
wierd
afaik
usually the ones that drive all over the road are the ones with plates from PL or LV
lol
then again, i equally dislike all of them who come unprepared here
you hear about the polish running brits off the road in the UK, but that's the RHD LHD thing
and then then again again, i dislike all outside drivers who drive inside the country, our jobs
but yeah, no matter how much I flashed my lights and beeped at him, the idiot was getting in my lane whether I liked it or not
the will power it took to not get in front of him and brake check him was Jedi level.
brake checking him would've just hurt you more
I wouldn't have to brake, my cars slow enough to be annoying to a truck driver
slow him down to 40kph and watch him struggle to get back up to speed
good friend of mine ran over a guy who purposefully annoyed him for ages on the road, eventually he brake checked too hard and got ran over
that nice new audi? Absolutely F'd.. totally write off
I wish I had my tools in my car, I'd have pulled him to a stop and smashed his headlights.
that would solve nothing
Company truck, not like drivers losing anything
still
put my life in danger and I'll make damn sure you know about it
Fucking try and put me under your wheels and I'll put you in a ditch
you hardly put a truck into a ditch with a small car without messing yourself up or possibly killing yourself with it
neither would I.
so.. chances of the driver putting you to the ditch would be likely aswell
considering most drivers are fat cunts, I doubt they'd get to anything quick enough.
Ah i see...
they'd have to wade through piss bottles and mcdonalds wrappers to get to it
that kind..
Bet they dont even do any physical work other than holding the wheel
somebody else loads and unloads it for them
explains why they dont give a crap, they dont get paid enough to care about anything
I work in warehouses for a living, I see trucks come and go and wish I could sit on my arse all day getting paid to run poor fuckers off the road and piss in a bottle
also I'd like to say I'm so happy they removed the language restriction
I missed saying cunt
so we can agree that french drivers are still crap
100%
along with italians
Never been to Italy
if you ever go, take a look at the cars.. full of scratches and dents
So France with a funny accent.
try driving through bordeaux, cry for a week, then try paris and kill yourself. that's French driving.
I know, morons
that's in big cities
good look trying to get any builders in bordeaux without a diesel van.
I don't see myself dragging my tools onto a fecking tram to get to a building site.
its miserable attempt at trying to ban specific vehicles upon very bad explanation and proof
the fact that the diesel engines are cleaner than petrol..
not according to the French.
yeah
then again.. the office in charge of environment policies in every country.. is special kind of stupid
they have no idea what they are doing, and they are making laws
its like having a person with a pigface and a toupee'd hair as a president
oh wait
I got a question for truckers in US, is there a limit of how far you go with a day cab?
Not all truck drivers are fat mate.
A lot of us have to load the trucks yourself, and not everything can be lifted by a forklift straight off the bat.
And also depends on what kind of work you're doing. I drive a flatbed for a construction company, in the past I've had to hand load 8t of scaffold into the stillages before it can be put onto the lorry with a loadall or hiabed on.
Got to the site and the scaffold was still up
Luckily the builders were kind enough to pitch in to help load
i for one load, and unload my entire truck alone.. by hand, no forklift
yeah I know @paper bear , I was being a drunk dick.
Still people washing by hand or truckwash? I always do it with hands, about 2 weeks depends on the weather ofcourse
I get it, me too. Wash, sponge with soap and wash again. Nice to read, that some do it theirself👍
pressure wash with hot water and apply soap
also the the sides of the boxes i go with a brush machine thing
theres too much surface to go through it by hand
I always take the time for it. Kinda relaxing for the brain did it always that way. And the feeling when your done and just look at it is really satisfying.
i wash every week, But i cant be arsed to put hours to single truck
With a cup of coffee
Every week is too much with the hand. Haha. We have a wooden floor, also with hand in the wash
Yes easy with movings so you dont have to lift everything but you can push it
Somebody still uses wood floors in trucks?
we have aluminium or something, with grooves in it so the water and stuff easily just flows out the back when you go inside with pressure washer then just lift the front air bags up in truck and trailer, and empty the rear bags
Its a truck of 1994, no airbags in front. So first a broom trough it. And set in wash
Haha good maintenance helps a lot. This year my boss is getting a new Scania p serie but cant be bothered with it. Just love the old volvo😁
We do a lot of furniture so its really handy.
But yeah, considering we drive towers of meatboxes on pallets that take up entire pallet space and like 3m tall.. they are driven in with forklift and out with forklift
Thats indeed a bit different haha. My boss before this one was also food transport. There we had indeed alu floors.
We have wood floors on a lot of our trailers
The only trailers with metal floors are the low loader trailers
The rest are wood
Really like wooden floors. Makes it a lot easyer. Except for forklifts maybe
Am I cool enough yet? 😂
A “distance sensing system” that doesn’t work
A what
was just thinking because that looks exactly like the floor heating controller
It’s for the rear I think
I saw it flash up when a car was up my ass at a set of ligts
compared to daf manuals, the scania feels horrible
Its not bad, you either double clutch to speed it up, or take it slow
You cant ram the gears in like volvo wirebox
Nope you know straight away in a scania if you mess up a shift
In a Volvo you just give it death
Yeah you can’t feel the gears
Who needs synchros
You're not cool enough cuz that truck is just nasty, clean it omg! 😛
Not my truck
wow, his sunglasses arent placd neately in the holder, what a dirty truck!
I keep mine clean so don’t judge lmao
And I keep juniors 580 clean when I drive that so 🤷🏻♂️
Other than the wheel it’s ocd clean inside
No crap anywhere, just an old bit of microfibre to sit my brew on
Now that is really good then, I like it the same since we live in our trucks on weekdays no shoes etc are allowed in them since they're after all your home away from home 😛
I think the shoes thing is a bit far
Fair enough no shoes on the carpet when you’re on the hump
Well I guess thats a matter of personal opinion tho, I mean like we drive long hauls so we rarely jump out of it that much AND we live in Northern Norway which means we got loads of dirt and snow here that gets stuck under the shoes meaning it would get quite dirty inside if we did
And in my opinion its not hard to just jump out of the shoes and put them in the top step before jumping into the cab
Yeah it’s the opposite for me, we rarely do long distance journies and we spend more time messing around pulling machines out of factories
And with the dirt, that’s why having a big transmission tunnel in the middle of the cab is good cause all the dirt stays on your mat instead of spreading through the cab
^
oh look, a Volvo disguised as a Renault
budget volvo
Volvo Engine reliability, Renault plastic everything else
They have the 11 litre don’t they
i belive they are 11 litre
Ew nope
500andsomething bhp is all I know
It’s probably the 13 then
@rustic bolt this is trailer Wielton low deck and trucks 😊
Here we drive low deck ttailers on normal height trucks :D
its renault only in the cab shape
I had to drive our volvo to Wetteri last week
I didnt like it all
The gearbox was a no for me
And the handbrake was too complicated
I had to figure it out xd
was it electric or normal?
ewwww
This thing
Yeah
Its so wrong
parking brake lever has more functions than just on and off..
theres a damn good reason why it is a lever and not a button
Because it applies the braking linearily as you pull it, you can use it as a brake if you have to
Someone tried to slow down pulling the handbrake a bit on an icy road
That didnt work out
naturally
he pulled too hard
and depending on the model of the valve.. it either brakes all axles or just some axles

Bad
Yes
Ahh
also one of our trucks ran over a small car in a blizzard other day
And then there was the bus, a hooklift and the sanding truck in the trench
That was a bit funny but
snowing hard, a snowplough comes ahead, behind it a a nice fat snow cloud of 0-visibility, the car infront dissapeared for seconds.. and apparently it decided to turn, in the stupid small car fashion: Turn signal, Immediately full on braking.. and then slow down to halt on the road
our truck bumped into it and rammed it to the ditch
Ugh
no harm on the scania done much, its back on the road again.. just lower bumper and radiators changed
We were supposed to take out the Sisu for snow driving
But decided to not
Because the conditions didnt allow it
Why did you complain about the handbrake in a Volvo and post a picture of a Scania? 😛
Btw that Scania handbrake you showed there, actually haven't seen any Next Gens having that one 😮
its option to have a electric handbrake in scania, Nobody just in their rightful mind wants one
Meanwhile I’m doing that 7 hours of CPC stuff.....
fun....
I want to die
Why?
It’s terrible
What is terrible?
the CPC stuff.... obviously.
it appears he drove off the road
or drove too close to edge, and then tumbled down in a barrelrolling fashion
"it appears he drove off the road"
freaking sherlock here knows what he's talking about
: No idea what exactly happened but.
I pointed out the obvious because he was unsure what happened
I would've just pushed the truck down the hill, would be easier to recover then
@crimson turtle no swearing on my christian server
Fixed, just for you
Fricking heck
Swearing is for meeenies
swearing is everyday thing and part of everyday vocalbury, for emphasing things
Nothing wrong with swearing.
i know
saywhatnow
^^
Arriving into Tromsö last week the usual tunnel we take under downtown was closed at night for cleaning so I had to drive through the city center on a Wednes...
I got this one if anyone is interested 😛
Yeah one of them stood in the middle of the road wobbling about, he moved over to the side but I thought I better drive round him IF he by any chance decides to wobble out onto the road again, a co worker of mine almost drove over one in a similar scenario the week before :/
He fell between the triple on the trailer but my co worker was lucky enough to notice him being unstable and managed to stop
😂 🙈
wow, ETS2 looks good in ultra settings
Hmmm you can get different colour LEDs for the older Volvo headlights
But if I get something like that I’ll have to swap all the LEDs out of the light bar to Amber also 🤔
Hmm that’s not bad at all
Not bad, but awfull
Lmao I don’t want your biased opinion
The Volvo super salt jolli and dog crew over in the corner hissing at the Volvo badge
Biased???!
I'm giving the facts
I wish Volvo implemented a feature so you can change the color of Check Engine sign
That’s just unfortunate for you then, yes there are bad volvos out there, same as any other vehicle
We’ve never had a bad one and mine is a good truck so yeah I like them
No need to get so triggered
i dont know but should i put Interior Backlights ?
Go for it
i would think about like Putting the Old School DAF sign to an Lightbar DAF sign i am not sure
@patent bolt beautifull truck
Ha Schenker, nah doubt you’ll ever see one of our trucks pull one of their trailers 😛
Thank you @dull spade ! 😃
😉
I'm gonna get a CDL and drive in Arizona with my dad within hte next year
I'm excited actually
Yes i finally got it
Before my CE driving test
Just 2 years ago
Aka moments before disaster
what happen if I use diff lock while driving?
ma man
your rear end will eventually blow up, quite literally.. especially if turning at high speed sharply, you are forcing the wheels to turn same time, under insane mass.. you'll hear tyre screetch and then diff go kaboom
Yeah probably only a sensor error tho
high speed in a straight line is fine with diff lock
Or just turn it off when u don’t need it
High speed and locked diff does not do good either, the locking mechanism is not designed for high speed, only lower speed and torque
Gotta use the power of gravity when we can @sweet aspen 😎
bro. you even lift. 🐨
@serene mason: You can appeal a ban here: https://truckersmp.com/appeals, please remember rule §7.1 of #discord-rules
K @spice solar
@serene mason: You can report people in-game or here: https://truckersmp.com/reports, please remember rule §7.1 of #discord-rules
@serene mason inb4 #real-life-forklifting becomes a thing
Thats not even big forklift
how heavy is that thing? like 20 tons?
Bigger isn't ways better. If you had a bigger one it prob wouldn't fit in that shed on the previous photo
my girl thinks different
😄
im talking about a forklift man...
but you have to agree, sometimes you can have eqquipment that is too big
😄
indeed, but if you look to forklifts in the harbour, its amazing tho how big they can be, with gears on it and stuff.
It weighs over 30t and can lift 27t with the forks
It’s enough for what we do, anything bigger and you’re getting into crane territory
That's about as bigger forklift as you get. container lifters aren't really "Forklifts"
Thought they were forklifts my bad sorry
Well container lifters can be forklifts obviously, just as Patrick has shown above.
💪
Had one of them in front of me last week, with the low r serie, drove so slow even a turtle passed him 😁
...
Those port forklifts are just useless at doing anything outside of a container port
yup
hence, bigger isnt always better 😉
It's pretty rare to actually find them in Forklift form too
Best one I've seen is wht they use at the ports to put boats in water, they lift them off the storage racks and can lower about 10 meters below themselves
The LRS 645 has a unique design of a curve-shaped, telescopic boom which means unrivalled reach and provides extra space for stacking. Other striking feature...
Actually Curly it's not really rare at all, they're all over both Sweden and Norway as they're used at train stations to unload/load cargo trains
in holland too, and the pic is from belgium
Just me that's never seen one then
3am start tomorrow, beautiful
Down to Portsmouth and Bournemouth from up north and back
Neat
early to bed then
niceeeee
what were you using the forklifts for on a small street like that?
lift a corner of a house probably
Lift a corner of the street probably.
We fit a CNC machine with the green forklift in Portsmouth and then went down to Bournemouth to fit a milling machine into someone’s garage
With that little one at the back
That scania is a really nice drive though
Manual also, terrible on fuel but it flies
Ha nope all mineeeee
Hmm think so actually yes
Nooxxiii ppllss gime icecream im hungry :(
Nah I mixed them up with Kalotti, them we see all the time
And some other company with white Scanias can’t remember the name now tho
White scanias in norway. Must be great camo :P
Do yall have time to rant about volvos
And praise how good Sisu is
When it only has Renaults cabin
How many times have we been over this
I was just about to type a long ass message 😅
This is a trucking channel
No swearing
This is an thing everyone
Is having wet dreams
About
"staplehut" as its called in finland
Jolli chats some crap about Volvo but gets triggered so hard when you put sisus down
Well SISU is crap
The ones i driven, were best of the best for its time. Nobody else offered same or good enough
Noxii. Youre wrong
Sure about that?
Jolli contradicts his own opinions so tbh it's not works bothering with
Also the best way to trigger everyone on this channel is "Scania are over rated and boring" and "Sisus are just renaults"
My ol’ truck... just recently got it repaired🙅♂️
@willow cove what year is that? Noticed the round lights
that ones a ‘87
Obviously lol
@static crag get rid of those baguette talking peeps!
^
And as others have stated if you want to discuss cars or games etc theres other more appropriate channels to do that than here as this is "Real Life Trucking" and things related to that.
Woop you lot in trouble now, discord mod Aes is here to save the day.
Okay, a reminder to all here: this channel, as stated in the channel description, is for discussing real-life-trucking ONLY. Do not come here to discuss unrelated things. Those who are talking off-topic in here will be issued with warnings for off-topic discussion in channels where the subject for discussion is clear.
You want to post pictures of cars, go to #photos. This channel is not for that type of discussion.
didn't sound like one
Huh it seems my posts were deleted
and bot told me i had profanity, i dont recall using any cuss word
Read what Aestrial said.
What does it feel like to drive that truck?
Feels like driving a truck
I guess thats right on that cranes limit?
It’s an 80 tonner
At 1m from the center so at 3m it’s good for about 20t
I had to pull the boom in a couple times on that lift so that excavator was probably just short of 20t
Yes it can
1m from the slew centre point it can
The weight just halves every metre out
At full boom out it lifts about 6t
That’s how cranes work...
i would love to see that thing lift 80 tons.... would be a fair sight....
would completely wreck it
its an 80 ton metre
doesnt mean it can lift 80 ton
Yeah I didn’t realise you said 80 ton metre
@serene mason no but like handling wise. Does the steering feel connected to the road?
On the truck?
Mhm
Karjaluoto has an 100 tonne crane
And Sulkala has an 150 tonne(?)
iirc Silvasti had the biggest one in northen europe
we have a 160 ton, mobile crane
from liebherr
thats as big as our company goes
from 40s to 160s, with almost everything inbetween
yeah, but the way hiabs are rated is different fromthe way liebherr rate their cranes
a 40ton mobile crane
means its maximum lifting capacity is 40 tons,
where as a 40ton hiab, will only be able to lift maybe.... 13 tons?
Hiabs are rated on tonne metre.. Basically how much it can lift from 1 metre?
Dont remember, but the lifting capacity obviously goes down further you get away from the base
@sweet aspen the steering most cases is connected to road. Volvo has some amazingly horrifying electric steering which is totally numb shit
Most still use good old hydraulic power steering
Horrible horrible feeling especially at low speeds
Yes!
Its horrible
It should be real feeling, not some cheap force feedback simulation
Again useless electronic feature only to break
@rustic bolt ton metre is usually, the weight it can lift at its maximum reach in tones, multiplied by its maximum reach in metres
Ah
Or something similar
Shrug, i always had that weight/lenght curve printed to the controls of the cranes so i never had to think about it
And log cranes didnt have one
Yeah that what everyone udrd but ton metrevis used to like , shortly sum IP it lifting capacity
Yeah
Never really concerned me since i mostly drove logs, you lift as many you can fit in the claw
Slew position also effects the weight transfer on the truck and onto the outriggers
That’s before you are lifting anything
Or trailer in my case
yeah, like on your usual rigid trucks with hiabs, you cant lift as much over the front of the cab
as you can say, directly parralel to the outriggers
And due to the rrmoveable fashion of the hiabs, they arent most stable or solid things
Most have quite play in them so they are easier to slot them in back of the truck
well, not too much once you get them set up.
otherwise they woud be dangerous
it isnt too dificult to fold them up again, some even do it their selves
the newer ones that is
best one i had was an old one that had been retrofitted with remote control
I never seen a detacheable hiab that folds itself up
hooking one up always involves lots of jiggling and wobbling the thing slowly into the 2 slots in the back of the bed
and when its finally all the way in, you put the 2 tabs through the holes so that it secures the "forks" into the holes and stays there, then just lift legs up and fold the thing up
and it should stay there
also always hook up the return hydraulic line first
I’ve never seen a detachable hiab
really?
Nope, never
I’m guessing it’s something similar to a moffett

Here's a quick video, how I can mount knuckleboom crane back of my truck. Crane is Palfinger PK 23002 C. And truck is still same old 144.
putting 2x speed is recommended, its fairly slow video lol
all log cranes are similar fashion here, they are just generally slightly lighter builds
they are removeable so you can just throw them out when you dont need them
Fair enough
yes, the newer ones are more limited. a bit more on the safe side....
We have a relic of a crane trailer
But it’s a little tank
No pictures of it 🙄 I’ll get some on monday
Looks like it’s from a car
Lmao whaaaat
That is way too low to be from even a low cab truck
You even sit higher than that in a Dennis eagle, and that’s looow
imo it looks like you took it in a car passing the truck
Be gone
what? did it get deleted?
yeah
he deleted it
after saying "I have 16 tonnes on me"
16 tonnes on a normal car 🤔
We are horrible people in here so I can see why he deleted it 😂
Business Insider's Benjamin Zhang and Matt DeBord discuss the Tesla Semi spotting on a public road in California. Following is a transcript of the video. Ben...
why do they even ttry
🤢
16 tonnes on my truck.
but yeah, there seems to be a wave of lying children atm
Actually, looking at that photo, I can see why my car rides like crap
rear struts must be blown to smitherines
probably leaked most of its oil out. or do you have trunk full too? doubt the VW put the stupid self leveling struts in the back of their wagons
Cars normally look lower at the back though
Especially after being lowered
The spring rate is less at the back because of less weight at the rear of the car
That’s why you see full cars going down the road and they look not too far off popping a wheelie
properly lowered cars should have stiffer spring sets.
stiffer springs and shocks actually
But atleast mercedes used self leveling rear shocks in their wagons so that when you tow with it or load the trunk full, it doesnt drag its ass on the road, but just increases pressure in the shocks to keep it level.. And you can guess how brilliantly that system works..
Depends what you get
If you buy eBay springs without shocks they are disgusting
Also a little sprinkle of snow today
yeah..
A sprinkle? In Scotland it was lethal this morning
laughs in finnish
It proper makes a mess of this job though
We’ve cancelled a few jobs today because the forklifts won’t work well in this weather
lol
If you lift 30t with the Versa it puts nearly 60t of pressure on the front wheels, instant ice ring if you’re driving on the slightest bit of sludge
well thats true
theres never been many lol
I think most people are sick of the thought of trucks after driving one all day
We’re just dedicated I guess
yeah...
probably the 2nd option... 20 hours of ETS2 for 2 days..
20 hours of the cafe
and i has like 1GB of screenshots..
I always forget to take screenshots
i take too much lol
spinning around in 3rd person and taking shots.. most of the time driving blindly forwards
yet i still manage to stay on the road for some reason
Nah I’m too busy reaching for my coffee
Spent probably most of the time driving the 4 series '580' causing disturbing the silence everywhere in europe
I dunno im starting to like our volvo actually
I had to disconnect it and the suspension was too damn good
And how quiet the cab was
😍
And to top it of with RST Led bars
Still its a flimsy volvo
Triggered lmao
I like mine
Mine has the big steering wheel though
And the big engine
@rustic bolt Car isn't lowered, and yeah the trunk had a few bags of cement in it
No self leveling system i assume
Why? My 89 merc has one
Or well. Had
I removed it and swapped normal shocks in back
you're Comparing Mercedes to VW.
I know
Its not the case of impossible. Morr of just the dofferent price and classes of the brands
exactly. I was emphasising more the poverty spec part
Actually I think I has lowering springs
or had. They're basically fully compressed now.
Ouch
The joy of buying cheap riced out buckets and dailying them to within an inch of their life.
this is how it usually sits
Heh
Meh
Das Auto
This Scania S 650 isn't your average tipper truck. With extra traction in the front for applications like snow ploughing, and Scania's new generation 650 hp ...
Gotta love Scotland, I love getting work up to the likes of Loch Lomond
And it’s a steady drive up the A74
Lol
Ooooof
haha well the work i was doing with the daf was moving construction materials. Like timber, scaffold or machinery. The biggest you would move would be a loadall or 8t digger
Most of the external hires i got was for windows, some were £80k worth of windows in 2 pallets so they were fun 😬
but no they were, a few long distance ones, very interesting
but the company is getting rid of that daf, and replacing it with a scania
so, if i play my cards right then hey, maybe i might be on a r580 😄
@serene mason
theyre getting a new gen, but we currently have a streamline 580 which i might go on, and the current 580 driver moved to the new gen
Ah
but theres no promises, its all up in the air
i prefer the streamline to the new gen tho, looks wise
Yes, definitely
I prefer the old Volvo also
They are just aesthetically pleasing
These new gens are just too boxy for me
i do agree that the new volvo is a very large truck, but something about them just looks nice,
also i feel like the new gen doesnt have the classic scania look to it
Exactly
They are good looking trucks but 20 years of the same general cab shape
I suppose you just fall in love with the cab
If you get what I mean
yeah, the interior?
or you mean it just grows on you? ooooh, yeah you fall in love with the classic scania look, yeah you do.
thought you were talking about new gen for a sec
Well I’ve grown up in fh12s and then the fh
We used to have an f10 when I was a baby but I can’t remember it
So for me the volvo cab has been the same for over half of my life
And it’s grown on me so much you know
These new gens look well, but for me they don’t have any character as a vehicle anymore
yeah, growing up with a certain style of trucks really gets it engrained into your mind
and the older trucks were more truck like, not as smooth on the corners
Volvo has been my life pretty much
Grew up in them, fixed them for years and now I’m driving them so yeah 😂
even the dafs are more bubbley
And yeah the 3 series and F10/12 kinda look
yeah thats the word, trucks are more bubbley 😄
plus, emissions
so much focus on emissions compared to the older ones
you get worse fuel economy
Yes
Well fuel economy for us isn’t very good
Mine gets 6.1mpg
And I haven’t been running heavy recently with it
My truck on cat 2 can go up to 80ton depending how many axles you have on the trailer
yeah, but i take it you arent maxing it out all the time? so like an average of 60?
Barely 60 tbh
We don’t necessarily always run heavy but there’s 3 of us on cat 2 plates so when we get a big lump of a machine then one of us carries it
I’m probably less than 10t load today with a load of machine parts, panels stuff like that
what is your volvo rated for? you have it at 80tons but is it rated for more?
