flat tire simulator DLC update
would actually make a legit scout car, it's slow, actually stops, and having a trailer on the back to slow it down even more would be just what the trolls don't need
Cool
Hmmm a Volvo in a workshop
@serene mason schools volvo so teenagers train them self to work on large vehicles
Ohhh yeah well they are a good training vehicle
Many electrical faults to choose from
and no matter how well somebody 'fixes' them.. they reset the errors when you cycle the ignition
I tell you what though
If any of you get offered a job doing heavy haulage then take it cause it’s hella fun
@crimson turtle i was looking thru older messages and i saw u dont care bout pollution.....why tho?
machismo
@sweet aspen I don't like polar bears. Or Ice. Diesel solves that problem.
Nah, for real I was probably drunk, I for one except our electric overlords
Its not an error message tho @rustic bolt
you know how volvos like to shut down after 2 minutes of idling
No
Why..
Scania dont care about idling...
That’s a customer adaption
If you have a truck with idle shutdown it’s the company’s fault, not the truck
When scania idles in cold, it maintains temp by closing exhaust brake to generate backpressure
I’m pretty sure every truck does that to warm up/maintain temp
Most
It’s a very easy way of putting slight engine load on
@crimson turtle then no more hot girls on the beaches :)
shhh my mrs reads this
lol
enuf pornlights now...
noise
I just love doing some dash work
whoever installed these should really buy some new glasses.
not one of them is straight 😂
hopefully whoever did it drilled the holes big enough to adjust them lol
Some of the Switches in my Pete are the same way. They kinda look after market. Drives me nuts.
they aren't aftermarket?
no, fashionable switches are out of question when it comes to american trucks
they are all those small electrical flip switches
aswell as the million redundant gauges always gets a chuckle out of me
there's no more buttons in that than a 6 series scania.
as if this doesn't have too many useless buttons in it.
Actually it doesn't, at least I use most of my switches in my Scania.
Please try to point out one you find useless in it?
and I'm sure most 379 drivers use their switches.
True, but I still agree with the above that Pete and most other US brands are quite out dated trucks still living in the good old 50s while EU trucks might not look pleasant to everyone they fullfil their purpose smacked with tech to assist both driver and others around it and to make it safer and safer
No but those hobby switches you buy from electronics stores look so cheap and old in a truck
it makes it look ancient
Also @crimson turtle when you take out the radio and navigational unit, you are left over with only the essentials such as lighting, diff locks, worklights, box's indoor lights, axle lifters, chain throwers etc..
Well they are ancient trucks there as I said, most trucks there has the tech from the good old 50s and somehow thats the way they like it over there
I love it tho when they complain cuz a trailer was dumped off too high so they cant hook it up cuz they cant raise the suspension on their trucks xD
or get stuck everywhere because 6x4 or 6x2 and no lifting axles
or weight shifting
or anything
primitive creations
Haha yeah quite sad tho, I would love to pick up a Scania like S580 or 730 or something with tag lift and just go over to US and Canada during winer and show them all how it's supposed to be done when the snow hits! 😛
indeed.. with just good snow tread and axle lift weight limiter disabled, you'd laugh at their faces when they are pulling chains out of their toolboxes
Yup, it is disabled on mine I have right now. I can press the weight dist button and just hold it in until it moves it all over to the drive axle and then it automatically lifts it
And got myself some Finnish quality Nokian Hakka stud free winter tires, worked like a charm last year and have been working like a charm so far this winter too 😃
yup
that scania' weight shift is wierd
if you want to directly lift axle from axle lift button, it tells its overloaded, and wont do it.. but if you hold the weight shift for like 10 seconds.. it lifts i all the way up in air
Yeah but still amazing that you yourself can decide how much you actually wanna just move over unlike Volvo for example where its nothing or everything! 😛
yup
it's funny because you're comparing an 80s truck to trucks from 2000 and later
I mean come on
but they still make them as they did in the 80's. I do get their point.
but since neither of them have ever driven anything American, I'd ignore them tbh
How are you so sure about that Curly?
because they aren't hearing a "no" 😛
fair enough if you have, but you've driven them on european road
And well Belle we've been trying to say exactly that, we cant really compare any "new" American trucks cuz there are none xD
they're built to drive on open American Highways, not our god awful over populated motorways
True, but still not all roads there are open American Highways, some are Canadian back roads etc
I know a canadian with a 379, doesn't seem to bother him
I didn't say it bothers them, look a bit further up and you'll see.
"Noxii - Today at 9:18 PM
Well they are ancient trucks there as I said, most trucks there has the tech from the good old 50s and somehow thats the way they like it over there"
And safely you'll say?
it was legal, can't be unsafe ¯_(ツ)_/¯
very safely, in trucks with no even EBS or ABS on trailers..
not much to hit tbh
Until a moron brake checks em
or ice.. or snow.. or just traffic
ice in texas?
Its gonna snow in texas next week
Still.. the trucks missing safety things like ABS.. i'd say thats worrying
especially if its going 135kph
Yes, very primitive one
I dont see ABS wire running to trailers at all
Meaning they must be using ABS solenoid in the truck alone, which causes insane brake lag
sure it does.
Also it doesnt do stuff like wheel specific ABS actions
or the fact that they dont seem to have EBS, which is brilliant, you dont get the stupidly long brake lag as the air travels down the tube
Yup gotta agree with the rest, sure ofc theres not much to hit but WHEN they hit something at that speed it sure as **** doesnt go well
wait a sec, waiting for a 379 driver to back my drunk self up.
and no offence to the americans here but from the vids and pictures I've from crashes involving trucks some of them looks like they're made out of wood basically and wraps up like a tin can when in a crash, I could be wrong tho
ever seen a euro truck crash? not much different tbh
I've seen A LOT and 99% of the time its the truck or tree that ends up looking the worst
I both live and work in Northern Norway so we get a lot of trucks that both crash with other cars, drive off the road and crash etc up here each winter and a lot of times its just a bumper that got a bump in it or something that needs to be corrected and the truck is back on the road quite quickly again.
that's an extremely ignorant statement.
How is it ignorant?
how many American truck crashes have you seen that aren't youtube?
So?
What experience do you have from driving trucks Curly?
Nah Curly I usually fly over to the US just to see trucks crash obviously.
so how can you say this?
Cuz I've seen Youtube clips obviously and I've watched Highway Thru Hell, Ice Road Truckers etc
I could show you infinite videos and pic of new trucks being crumpled and say they're unsafe.
Ice Road Truckers are hilarious to watch.. They are soooooo king of the road
Reality TV at it's finest
People i'd never hire to drive anything: Anybody from ice road truckers
Yeah Ice Road Truckers is more like a comedy show
Noxii what is that show of norwegian rescue teams?
I saw couple episodes it somewhere
That was actually good
Oh forgot the name of it, tho saw a couple of them too
Veiens helter or something in norwegian at leat
you had it right the first time 😉
Still think this one was quite amazing, the driver of the truck that went down apparently walked out with minor injuries
from the vids and pictures I've from crashes involving trucks some of them looks like they're made out of wood basically and wraps up like a tin can when in a crash
here's the thing. Not only does youtube feature almost exclusively the most violent crashes, but pretty much all American vehicles come standard with this as a safety feature. The front crumples to absorb kinetic energy in a crash and to avoid shoving lots of more rigid front-end objects into the driver or passenger/codriver. This is also present to some extent in the sides and rear.
The vast majority of US truck-involved crashes (crashes in general tbh) are not high speed, and occurred while the truck was braking and taking other action to evade a hazard/an accident.
True but when it crumples enough it kinda shoves the engine into the cab where the driver sits so is that really that good?
Do you really think they wouldn't design with that in mind? Because they do. To avoid exactly that.
So what you're saying is that the part with the hood is basically softer than the cab itself?
I don't get all the details, I'm just saying it's probably designed to go down under the cabin more naturally than into the cabin during a crash. Seriously, the trucks may not be up to European specs on emissions and driver-support technology but the basic build of them isn't stupid.
Yeah agreed Belle I wont say the whole truck sucks but as DrDog just said everything when it comes to tech still kinda lives in the 50s
¯_(ツ)_/¯
And to be honest if a EU truck crumpled up like that in any way I'd probably die if I crash
We have several mountain passes here tho where if you drive out of the road there you'll only do it once so to say
Also i guess its the norm that seatbelt goes off and left hand on the door when you enter the passes
thats what people who driven to norway has told me
Yeah or at least keep one hand close to the button to release it at all times 😛
A short "timelapse" or whatever you wish to call it recorded by the dash cam mounted in my truck. The clip stretches from the little town Oksfjordhavn to the...
Losing is fun!
This is one of those mountain passes where you only drive out of it once
that's midnight?
yes
The cliff on the left side of the road goes straight down 400m on some parts
in summer
Lmao we’re bashing murica trucks?
what kind of backwards country do you live in where it's daytime at nighttime?
And yeah its not exactly true, its not midnight cuz the time on the clock was like 2h wrong so its 1am
close enough
or 1 in the night or what you wanna call it
And Curly I live above the arctic circle, meaning that during summer it never gets dark here
We have daylight and sun 24/7 in the summer time which makes trucking at night so f ing lovely
summernight trucking is awesome
Tho winter basically means darkness 24/7
yeah..
Gets kinda depressing to not see the sun for a month or two, luckily I'll be going home to Sweden on Friday to see the sun again 😛
When I was in Sweden last winter it didn’t come light until after 9am and that was in Goteborg
and göteborg is below finland
So I can’t imagine what it’s like where you are
Haha here it gets bright at around 10 or 11 and dark again at around 13 or 14 ish
I'm in the wrong continent.
not bad
Via Finland 😛
coastal drive, can't be that bad
Stopping at Kilpisjärvi for some energy drinks ofc, nah Curly it can be quite beautiful but its loooong and highway basically all the way so all you do is hold the steering wheel and let the cruise control do its thing so its easy to get bored or tired
True, but I am picking up a rental car from Sixt
Did book a Ford Mondeo however I am soooooo scared that I will get some crappy Asian brand...
Haha true xD
But sound isnt the best, booked a V60 through Hertz once and they gave me a Nissan Quasqai or how they spell it and the slogan "Bad sound kills good music" meant something completely new after that
Picked it up at Kiruna airport and drove it to Kiruna downtown and called Hertz and told them I refuse to drive this car and either they find me a new one or I'll take the train instead
rentals are rentals, drive them like you stole them or walk
if you're that picky about a a rental you should just rent a bicycle
Dude that makes no sense at all
You'll literally pick a rental class and pay for it cuz you want that specific class duh
Lat car I rented was a kia Cee'd estate, I was pleasently surprised
If I wanted a Nissan Micra i would pay for that as it was cheaper 😉
oh, didn't realise the V60 was an estate, my bad
in that case yeah, between an estate and a crossover there's a big difference
Yeah and like I dont think its fair to compare a Nissan to a Volvo since they arent really the same class
4wd i guess
perfectly legal
ah you can do that
of course, Scania has scale on the axles and most trailers have aswell
Eeh, 51 tons
it would still be legal in Finland atleast
not sure if norway has upped the semi trailer weights
It’s not legal
48 ton is the limit
You can have 50 on some semi but that’s those which have the rear axle all the way back on the trailer which I don’t as I have a normal trailer
oh right the wierd norwegian law
30 tons on truck and 38 tons on trailer is fairly normal vegetable load for me lol
Yeah I know right, our 25.25 are allowed to weigh 60 tho
still better than here in Germany, where even 25.25m trucks are only allowed to have a total weight of 40 tons lmao
So only thing you can drive with them is insulation really
lmao
Thats plain stupid
because the vehicle alone weights good 20-24 tons empty..
You arent left with much payload
yeah
Insulation trucks are funny..
The funny thing is that the media is kinda propagating that "Gigaliners" are all evil and bad for everything blablabla
So most people think rail is a better alternative, but that's just not the case because poeple don't want railroad tracks near them either
And this is why your transport remains to be inefficient
We're literally having a debate in our city, the Deutsche Bahn wanted to build new tracks to increase cargo train volume and the home owners nearby protested - but they also protest against motorways and trucks etc
Insulation trucks are funny sight in the roads.. Small 60 series wheels and few axles
they protest for sake of protesting because something is going to change
poeple don't even think about the fact that someone has to deliver all the stuff they buy everyday
should just stop deliveries for 1 week and see the chaos
😄
That usually works
lool I just read the news article again and they seriously think they can build a freaking tunnel for cargo trains below a river below the whole freaking city
wtf
Well.. they did build a parking cave under the main street of my town here
then they built a couple kilometres long tunnel under the 'coastline' under a river etc..
for a highway
and the parking lot isnt a small one either
the current situation here is that there's a 1-track rail dam that leads towards the river, so at the end the river is crossed at a height of maybe about 15-20meters. And some people seriously think it's a good idea to put a tunnel there instead???
wow
i mean the cave is large enough to have parking on 2 levels, have proper roads in it and proper size roundabouts etc
so the city council published 3 plans, two of which are different ideas for tunnels and the third option is to "just not make trains stop here"
fun fact: the freight yard here in Mannheim is one of the biggest in Europe and a pretty important so just "not making trains stop here" is... kinda.... impractical
And this is how politics and choise making goes: Lets put people who have no idea what they are doing in charge
yeah 😄
or alternatively build something and then wonder.. Wait a second.. What do we do with this?
#BER
I feel like this is enough to describe whats going in most council rooms on decisions..
aaah classic
Seen lots of Dutch trucks driving flowers to Sweden lately with 25.25
Just parked in the northernmost city in Norway for the night 😎
It’s 4+ and raining on these roads right now and really f ing strong side winds
The joys of being a truck driver in northern Norway... ice road truckers can shove it
ice road truckers are clowns compared ot htat
Yup totally, wind been throwing my trailer all over the road...
you need bigger box on the truck and more weight, and more axles on the trailer and more weight
no more throwing around
Ha I’m basically empty right now, got like 15 milk wagons in the front only
Milkwagons.... Ugh i hate those
Ha yeah gonna load up about 100 empty ones soon to go back down to the production facility
My co worker driving north tonight gets to drive through Finland but I who’s driving south have to go through hell on earth (E6 Norway)
We're literally having a debate in our city, the Deutsche Bahn wanted to build new tracks to increase cargo train volume and the home owners nearby protested - but they also protest against motorways and trucks etc
NIMBY factor ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Everyone wants stuff better but nobody wants the required betterness infrastructure in their backyard or the required legal decisions to affect them
Yeah
Yeah
its even the old R
have fun with the high tech small green display and the off center gauges
I’ve been having more fun with the crane on it
Also it’s a manual so I feel like a real man hahahaha
haahah
I’m not keeping it though, I’ll be on a 2010 FH on flatbeds/ramp trailers for a while
I almost drove off the road earlier today xD
oopsies
ooh thats nice
Yeah and here 9 other trucks plus some cars and at least 1 bus has driven off the road 😂
Tho I come prepared 😎
AHahah
Must be auto 😂
Now i dont have fresh pizza with me all the time, but i tend to have some microwave pizzas or hotdogs etc in the fridge all times, so when i get into a jam or have to wait, i'll just pop food on the microwave
The road has been closed here since 15 ish xD
Yeah I stopped and ordered one in the town behind me cuz I knew of this stop 😛
😂
lmao
So put the tacho on pause too cuz I needed to have a 30 min break anyways before reaching my destination so cant complain here really 😛
Yuyp
The only thing i found good in scania after 3 months of driving one
The controls for the box transfer are in a good place
Nothing else really
if only you'd knew.. Scania changes the button locations every month
You can change the suspension in the seat if you’d like, like the sensitivity on it
But I mean who even drives with it on, I drive with mine off all the time
Its iveco, thats where it belongs
Hahahah true, ofc Bring Trucking managed to drive off the road too on the wrong side of it too xD
Lars Prim too ofc
lol
So earlier today I had a close call as I was driving fairly slow heading south in Oksfjordhamn in northern Troms over the mountain pass the roads were just p...
This was from earlier today, you can see a bit like 14 seconds in the clip how the truck starts going sideways. Sure gave me a mini heart attack in there xD
So let be give your a few reasons why AUTS needs to happen https://scontent-syd2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t31.0-8/25440114_1615374028527271_753473367730681143_o.jpg?oh=94a5da89f143d7c9ce6a3a8e7093b4e0&oe=5AC458C4
More reasons
oyes
Looks like ATS except that when you start the truck there's a chance of a spider or snake attacking your foot.
fair enough
thing about aussie truck sim would be it would be a mix of EU and US trucks
Add a random chance of pricks on the motorway throwing rocks through your windscreen too. Forced repair stop.
Au is fitting trailers where they shouldn't fit at all
That sounds like Scania Truck Driving Simulator, which is fun.
Don't forget the trolls that exist in au real life 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
well just have a look at this truck its got troll witen all over it https://images.thewest.com.au/publication/B88364017Z/GOVRK92O.2-1.jpg?imwidth=800
Yes, but IRL the road is covered in trolls wherever you are.
We wouldn't need defensive driver training otherwise.
Exactly
Hmm...
There's a mod I have which makes the AI traffic behave like Europe 2 players or something, I should probably give it a whirl.
Oh god
Anyway though
I'm mildly amused at how many trailers you can legally pull in Australia
You can have up to 5 on some public highways but on private haul roads they can get even longer
also here is a Volvo AU promo video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MbRjE67TXo
Darwin to Birsbane through Australain Outback ''To the Other Side'' Very impressive truck in action
Whybare you in this channel?
How about backing them up?
How do you hook up 5 trailers?
With Luck xD
Add one to the front each time
So each of the extra trailers can be hooked up directly to the cab?
Usualy ye
I really wish I could experience the fun of doing that in ATS/ETS2
But even then they can be broken down to be single trailers
Australian truck simulator would literally be the most boring game in the world
anyone remember that Bus game, where you basically just drive in a straight line from tucson to Las vegas? That would be AUTS
Aussie Truck Sim would be much like American Truck Sim... deserts, and maybe some green patches.
you don't back them up.
You do
@crimson turtle Desert Bus? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZ4EF2hFxDc

That's the one
Please, tell me more about how you'd reverse this.
there's no need to reverse them at all.
why would you even reverse them anyway. Especially as they're mostly used in quarries, where there's ample space to do a 180 with them
Now you're showing the longest thing allowed on Australian roads. No one in their right mind would do it.
But something like this (still a road train, however signs aren't shown for it) is something you'd reverse.
That's not a road train.
it is
Not a b-train, but it's the same length (pocket road train, using smaller trailers to fit in road regulations which don't allow full length trailer road trains.
Dunno. Anything using two trailers and a dolly is considered a road train, it's just the trailer lengths define whether it is a pocket road train or a normal road train.
It's basically a 25 25 with an extra pivot.
No.
If you really, really want to argue that point with an Australian, go right ahead.
Australians aren't the only ones with those trailers.
i agree with tp
he takes different double trailers
yeah he's shown me some he's reversed though, not his usual game I know
the long trailer with a short trailer is what he reversed before iirc
no, the double trailers that we have in ets2
I thought he drove these?
oh idk then
the ets2 doubles are easy to reverse
I just about managed on ets 😂
works
@crimson turtle but didnt u just
mock that brand
:oo:
No, he doesnt have a potato
yeah, I can't deny it's actually a good truck on ets
I still remember a green sisu what we had in school
that was the worst fuller ever that i drove
I mainly got it for the height, it looks great as a quarry truck
makes a great all road truck
it can
2 trailer in ets 2 is vasikka in finnish @dense kraken
Thats all you would have to ever do in a road train the yards are set up that way
A B-dubble on the other hand https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SraL6Wj0D28
This is a B-dubble for anyone who dosn't know https://www.bi-tronaustralia.com/media/wysiwyg/Images/Lindsays_2.jpg
its a lindsay
there are also B triples https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2768/32193479153_520109aa5b_b.jpg
also found on RTA for 10 dollers
You can and you do reverse HCTs
Perfectly doable with bit of practise, guys here got lazy of slicing it to pieces, so they reverse whole combination tobdock, and cut it there and then put the 2nd trailer to next dock
Trucks with paint jobs like that remind me how bad SCS did with some of the liveries for the scania
Same 😣
hmmm.. manual R500.. sometimes have to drive bad trucks to appreceate your own one
Scanias have a very weird throw on the stick, especially side to side
Nah @crimson turtle it’s a 12 speed gearbox
And actually I have to say that I find Scanias gearbox much easier than Volvo for example
wait till you drive a eaton
Never done that, only SISU in Eu that has that kinda gearbox right?
Yeah
Not in stick shift
yeah, its automatic
but volvo is really doing a good job
do you have stickshift or automatic? @patent bolt
Yeah Volvo is doing a great job at being bad and ending up in the workshop once a week
I drive an automatic and thank god for that, comfy when it lots of traffic and faster than any human changing gears basically
Does it need to? Not really cuz I’m not driving 700tons, we weigh at most 48tons in total 😛
automatic pfft
Even i managed to command the fuller
For 2 years
and it's actually better than automatic in lots of traffic or smthing like that
but its my opinion
wtf, how do you shift without using the clutch?
easily
i got stopped once the gears didnt want to come out without clutch, because its not straight tooth, so it doesnt pull out as easily as it should
okay
How do you shift without clutch
Drive a fuller
thats how
Or well, eaton fuller doesnt even have clutch
its just clutch brake
Badly worded
it has clutch, but nobody knows what is it for or why it should be used
does it look good inside?
well.....
...no
It looks like a strom trooper had a stroke.
True^
@crimson turtle lol
@NedGaming#3766
Think I spotted your mate earlier with the truck and trailer @surreal urchin
droopy likes ricochet
Been driving for 20h now, almost down in Stockholm. 600km left to go, talk about feeling like a zombie, a zombie filled with Redbull...
bed is 600km away
@proper owl jep.. you did :p
@hard dagger sorry the late reply. yeah it looks pretty good from the inside
it's also really spacious
Well I’m getting there, up at 28h now 😛
haha
i want to drive a truck too ._.
That picture reminds me how awful the winter mod textures look
Lol @robust geyser
@robust geyser 😄 aahaha lol
@errant plover Nice Company it is in Bakkeveen right?
Lovely
off to the slaughterhouse?
off to the laughterhouse yes
and thats exatly why i dont eat meat @rustic bolt
Your loss
no, eating meat is just stupid😛
Meh
Or make fun of people who like eating meat
m8 this isn't vegan peasant chat it's irl trucking chat
walks off knowing that being vegan damages your body
I think, im not the one making fun of people that like killing animels (eating meat is nothing else, ist is just a different way to say "im killing animels so that i have food"), i think, you can just read it right below the last picture. Furthermore, im not vegan, im vegetarian. So dont just say things that are not true.
And i dont want to push anyone here. I do respect people that want to eat meat. But in my opinion, it is just stupid as hell. But it is everyone´s own choise, so eat whatever you want.
What's the point in being vegan like honestly
lol
Who cares honestly-There's millions of animals
and that doesnt change anything
i could also its okay to kill humans because there are millions of them
but that doesnt change anything
alright well you see
humans might be animals in the sense of the word
but animals ≠ humans
Be a vegan all you want
I could care less about you honestly
You're just harming your own body lol
I dated a vegan girl for a short period of time
She couldn’t handle the abuse I gave her after she ate my meat
lewd
My girlfriends been vegan for a year or so now, he's had to revert to eating dairy as it's made her ill.
I would strongly recommend that you guys firstly inform yourself about food.
She didn't lose any weight, which is a big stereotype in the vegan community, but it was quite literally making her sick
and it's so damn expensive to eat vegan in this country
The thing is I do understand why people are vegan, and I'll always back peoples opinion on why they're vegan. But don't push it on people. It makes you sound pathetic. The same as the idiot that said "there are millions of animals in the world"
but as semtall said, this isn't the right channel to talk about this, feel free to move to #307554769772347393 if you wish to discuss this further
I don't say that it is not okay to eat, and I said before, I don't care if someone eats meat or not. But don't just say things that are not true
Furiously shakes cane Hey kids! Get out of my trucking channel!
Lol
yes, let's leave the scandinavians to masturbate over Sisu's
Not my fault Scandinavians populate the channel mostly
Hm

or the fact that most drivers in this channel are finnish and norwegian
the feeling when im an american ._.
if you are driving american, welcome
hi
speak of the devil?
^
lol
I don't even know this guy, so
I'm 6 and what is this?
wot
the real 6 year old appeared
Oi
I'm an immortal ancient and what is this?
I'm a drunk 23 year old and what is this?
Have fun
Whats the ferry like lol?
You lot went a bit too far tonight didn’t ya.
Nice
damn thats a nice scania T. love those things
Your friend killed a chicken here in the UK ahahahahah
This is one of the trucks I drive every day
first time seeing one of those trailers
the shape is really wierd
I only seen normal bulk cylinders for powder and sugar etc
this ones ar hard to couple wen you ae not use to
perhaps, you dont have full straight sides to look point of view from
but funny is the liquid sugar ahahah
and doesnt seem like it has much lights either
yep
you have to go from the tyres and i alway tha a pick out of the cab to make sure
Heres a more normal bulk truck
yeah
Powder, RL-Trans, E.Laurila..
ah
I dont recall seeing a semi trailer one
nobody drives semis here unless they drive out to south
and this is my big baby
😌
i have work on this trailers two years ago. i'm a weldder 😉
36.000 liters of Democratie :p
That is wrong way to jump with truck 😂
The offset on the left ramp pisses my nonexistant OCD off
Actually @rustic bolt we have those tank trailers here too, lots of them hauling concrete etc around here
Time to watch another movie while waiting for the guys to load up my trailer with 25tons of dairy products, isn’t it lovely to have others load ya 😃
Wish that would be the case for me too
Haha well then find a job like that then 😛
Think it’s time to dig out the lights again
For like the 10th time in the past hour...
Thankfully my trailer still has old halogen lights in back
truck doesnt sadly
atleast in rear
Yeah leds is crap when it comes to this
thankfully headlights are still some sort of hot bulbs
Actually I heard some complaining about that when it comes to the next gen Scania
Yup so suppose in the end we all even need to dig out our headlights too in the future
and we dont even have the headlight wipers anymore
i say we gone back in technology clearly
Well positive thing about led is that they last longer so at least you don’t have to change bulbs that often 😛
not that they burn that often
and atleast its not like a MAN where you need to tear the bloody headlight assebly out to reach the tiny door
Haha didn’t know that, only driven a MAN once and can say that I was not impressed at all
how you liked that fake fabric seat that was incredebly sweaty no matter what you wore
What was the funniest thing about it tho was the useless auto gearbox and the incredibly crappy clutch xD
Or the seating pos
or the fact that the wheel just tilted either up or slight towards you
and the automatic's clutch usage is totally hopeless
And the fact that you could barely tilt the whewl
also the automatic clutch kicking is almost as bad as mercedes
Mercedes goes like.. "Lets go slow.. This is good speed yeah? FASTER! and it dumps the clutch entirely.. Very funny when trying to do some precision reversing or trying to carefully take off on ice
suddenly you are going like 5kmh backwards
Yeah at the place I’m going to reverse into tonight and park there’s some steel pillars just outside the ramp so you have like cm to spare on each side and you can’t line up straight cuz it’s too narrow, works fine with my Scania to turn in carefully
scania's manouvering is amazing on the automatic
Tried it with the man, put it in reverse, pressed the gas a lil bit, nothing happened, pressed it a lil bit more and suddenly it was full speed backwards xD
Haven’t driven much Mercedes since like 2011
its hopeless
Especially the smaller Actros cab.. the cab is so narrow that you cant even look backwards because you look at the frontwall of the box
also big mirrors, yet you dont see a thing
My company got a new actors demo to try, took me 15 minutes only to figure out how to start it
Ha yeah that floor button
But i had never seen such a start button in a truck before so it confused me a lot and at first I thought it was like a Volvo car for example where you just press it a lil bit and it starts up, imagine my surprise when it never wanted to start
Had to call a co worker and ask him how to do it 😛
yaeh, press it slightly, it turns on power, press it all the way in, and it starts
Yeah but I didn’t dare at first cuz I was afraid of breaking something
eeh
its mercedes
all the german trucks are self destructive anyways when you let them drive for while on cruise control without you babysitting them
MAN does it by downshifting full gear from 12 to 10 so the engine screams at 2200rpm and exhaust brake on..
Happens immediately when you cross 90kmh speed or +5 over set cruise control speed
Haha yeah suppose so
is i80 open west bound wyoming
This is a hard life...
Been waiting for 2 hours for a Dutchman to show up with a machine for this recycling plant
unfortunate midlift
It’s a half steer so it isn’t the worst
damn it, hate missing driving but a broken back forced me out of the cab 😦
Scania leather seats and the numerous back supports do it for me
is... is that just sitting there? what a disgrace...
a truck shouldnt just be left sitting. it should be given away to someone else if you dont want it or stored if you are going to use it later or preserved if nobody else wants it.
Nah you keep ahold of it regardless, it’s a classic
A classic that rots away yeah
Ay it’ll get done up one day
it doesnt rot in UK
yes
But it doesnt slowly return to nature like it does in north
rust happens quick here.. for some reason
i remember what work it was to move our piss trailer (full of IBC containers of adblue) in the garage yard.. The trailer sat like 6 months in same place, and all the brakes rusted on..
eventually we borrowed the next door's metal shop's forklift-on-steroids and just lifted the entire trailer in air and moved it elsewhere on the forks
We pick forklifts up with other forklifts cause why not
Got her clean for next week tho
I mean this wasnt small forklift..
What i heard from the driver is that they rebuilt the entire hydraulics system and upped the pressures quite a bit so it lifts tens of tons.. And they crack the valvetable once a month
We have a 17t 27t forklifts
yeayh
And a 7t with a Chevy v8 in it
The rest are 4t and less
You know a forklift is heavy duty when it doesn’t have sideshift on the forks
yup
that was some ancient sisudiesel which probably had same engine as the military 4x4 trucks
some small 6 litre diesel or something
Our big forklifts have little 3 litre GM motors running on gas
They just have a crazy pto on them for the hydraulics
Would you guys use scotch brite on a fuel tank/toolbox that had acid on it over using wet and dry
i'd try wet first
Just got the news that the E6 through northern Norway is closed for the night due to avalanche danger so now I gotta go in and drive through Finland... 😩
Finland is good yea
Freaking cold tho
And yeah since temperatures were around 0 in Norway right now and really slippery snow roads I guess it’s better here cuz it’s colder
wow
Always see the sunny side😂
reminds me of my childhood does that truck
Hmm, i was wondering what are the pros and cons of a long nosed truck, and what are the pros and cons of a regular european truck?
End me please
Turning radius @fossil mulch
Manoeuvre ability
And it’s like they say, size does matter
For example here in Norway the truck is counted towards your total length. Meaning the longer the truck the shorter the trailer you gotta have. Usually that’s the reason in most countries why our trucks look the way they do, to maximise cargo capacity while sticking to specific length requirements
Oh, yeah i see. Thanks for the explanation.
Whereas in the US the length requirements are much more lax, and the nose also helps with aero which is especially notable at the higher speeds of highways in the US
Back in the days they were quite handy with the total lenght law 😂
I'm gonna make sure my job when i'm older is gonna be a truck driver 😛
Because i just love trucks
Scania tho 😉
i am glad i didnt, every one around me cant see their kids during the week 😂
rip
but yeah, i'll probs take over after my grandad as he was a truck driver in UK
i like you already 👍
Let me say this like i have done before like million times
Once you get to drive a Finnish handmade truck with Eaton Fuller 18 speed and ISX Cummins
you wont go back to scania
No need for 18 speed, we have power and torque engines, not some 1960s things which need short gears
Masi with a zf was the most
horrible thing ever
Yeah there is a need for 18 gears expect we dont use them
But like
yeah
No one uses an 13 speed fuller anymore
13 is 18 without low range splitter
I dont think you can actually split crawl in other eatons than 18
12/13 is best for trucks
Or im just terribly wrong
Lmao no
18 is for american ttucks with no torque
16 is more then enough imho 12 is nice
Dog runs at 60t with opticruise no problem
I run anywhere between 50-65t with ishift not problem
Autos are just way too smart for fullers nowadays
Btw
70t even
How many people can 1 volvo employ?
They are basically fullers on the insides anyway, the ishift gearbox has no syncros
Scania still has syncros but drives it like it has not, to preserve clutch and gears
Shouldn’t need syncros on an automated box
That’s me off to try and overload the sh... out of the trailer
Caught up to 2 slowpokes right before the Norwegian/Finnish toll station today only to realise they were coworkers of mine xD
Lol
Had my money on that it was vlantana, the surprise when I saw our logo on them when we turned in to the toll 😝
I'm noting a distinct lack of sexy bullbars and lights on that nextgen.
Just got a traffic announcement on my radio so it cut out my music, it was in Finnish... I totally understood every word of it
Not
And yeah I don’t like that next gen, I think they painted the grill badly etc
But it’s not owned by us, it’s another company that in turn just drives for us
In that picture I 100% prefer the old gen scanias
@patent bolt listen to Loop or NRJ
you will understand 😄
thats what i do
103.5 or 99.1
Does it work this far north?
Will do, doubt it will tho since I’m in Karesuando 😛
If I remember right it’s mostly YLE and SR that works up here
YLE is just a big meme
There is Pooki tho
xd
Yeah definetly wont work in there.
works in Sodankylä tho
Have no idea where that is xD
Just stopped in Karesuando now for a reindeers steak for dinner 😎 One thing that almost screws me over every time when I’m in Finland planning on reaching the store in Kilpisjärvi I always imagine I have plenty of time on me to get there only to realise I’m right on closing time due to you not having the same time zone as the rest of us Scandi countries...
Is that mountain dew I see
what is this a food channel now
Yall got automatics in your semi's over there in europe land? I've heard that you guys do more than us Americans
Omg here we go again with the “steering wheel holder” arguments and that Murica is the biggest, most beautiful and badass and best country in the world
Yehaaaaw
Uhhhh what. Literally just asked as I was curious
Ah sorry then 😛
Thought you were gonna mock us
But yeah we both have auto and stick shift
And to be fair I think it’s safe to say that stick shift is a dying breed over here
Are they stick automatic (like a stick on the wheel) or is it buttons like on the dash
Depends on the brand you get, mine have like a lever where the wipers usually is that I just flip a switch on
Volvo has the like gear lever on the side of the seat like in US
DAF and MAN I think has a like switch on the dash
Ah okay. Most automatic heavy trucks in America are push button. The trucks in the FD are automatic except for one really old one. http://thumbs4.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/mJ5jpboiHaEBWuS4YvHRSKQ.jpg
They're usually this kind of selector on the dash
I see em in semi to but that's the selector. Even our military vehicles use these kind.
Same allison box
I've never understand what it means by 6 | 1 or something when driving
http://blog.diesellaptops.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Allison_Gen_4_Shift_Selectors.png like here. Any idea what the second number means?
I remember going to a massive incident while ago and it seemed to shift kinda high to me. Then again the tanker was fully loaded going 60-70mph so yeah. Had a cummins i6 and the window open could hear it nicely.
Has no place in any heavy vehicle
First number is how many gears you have so 6 would mean you have a 6 spd transmission and the second number is what gear you are in
I don’t get it tho, is the American automatics really that bad as everyone make it sound like? Like Volvo for example has the i-Shift that should be the same both in US and EU right?
And I don’t see why lots have to whine about automatics and say only “steering wheel holders” drive them etc, first of I found the automatics to be extremely comfortable to drive at least Scania or Volvos gearboxes, they’re also faster than basically any human shifting gears, I have the possibility to drive it in manual if I’d like etc. I can’t seem to find any negative thing about automatics, worked a year in Stockholm driving both stick and auto and my god those days with an auto was so much easier since it went through gears and up to speed a bit faster meaning it was easier to get out of junctions etc due to traffic. Also while stuck in traffic jams etc autos are just wonderful not having to clutch and change gears up and down all the time
Try having an 18-speed tranny with twin stick shifter in traffic
Yup think I’d rather not, doesn’t fun at all 😛
It's extremely fun :d
Well I guess I will have to take your word for it since we don’t have anything like that over here 😛 But I kinda love my Scania Opticruise gearbox tho
Well I guess I will have to your word for it since we barely have any scanias over here 😆
Automatics arent that bad over here and the I shift is the same here as it is over there i belive just a different final ratio for the US to allow for the higher speeds obtained over here maybe a few more gears not sure
and the twin sticks in reality isnt that hard as one is just your splitter/range and the other one is the actual gear shifter
Twin sticks are pointless
Indeed
Users too dumb to comprrhend the use of a range switch and splitter switches on the stick
Opticrruise and ishift are manual gearboxes with robotic servos moving the "stick", Allison for example (seen above) is your normal automatic transmission, torque converter and planetary gears etc. Only heavy mqchine use scenario should be only buses, where is frequent stopping, saves on the clutch wear by having a torque converter in place. And are max like 6 gears, because of the size of the gearbox..
They go up to 9speed commonly for semi's and 12 speed at most i hear but my first thought is a 9-12speed automatic is going to weigh so much and be alot weaker and higher maintenance than a manual of equivalent gears. I'm biased as I hate automatics though as they upshift to far(gear or two ahead of what I would rather them in) and don't downshift quick enough(or at all even)
Thats traditional automatic for you
Yeah and I hate it. Like in the SUV it's even worse. Going up a massive hill at 45. 1-2-3,4th and then would rather sputter and buck then downshift. Or like you give it alil gas it downshifts and instead of increasing speed by 5mph you increase by 10. And then when you let off the gas by like 3 degrees it upshifts and now your 5mph below the speed limit again.
Lets just say that opticruise or ishift is nothing like that
reminds me of my girlfriends old espace. 200bhp and yet it would try and kill itself going uphill. it had a manual mode with an override if you tried to rev it over 3500rpm -_-
The automatic gearboxes in volvos are manuals with air/electronic selectors, hence the term automated gearbox
Also, anyone here do roping and sheeting?
No
a lot more fun
Has more power than most murica trucks, can pull double the weight, drives much nicer and actually has a turning circle
^
Yeah I’ll stick with this thanks
and looks nicer 😛
580
Only 70 less than my pete
how much hp do the top pete's have?
I have a 580 now but in a year when we’re swapping trucks again we might actually go for 730s
700 retail probably not
Unless you want to mod it and give it 1k
The likes of caterpillars lack the torque though
cant beat the sound of a scania though, we have a 730 with stacks, oh my. heaven
Cant beat the sound of a n14 jake
i dont get this thing all you americans have for jake brake sounds
But regarding the automatic gearbox talk, opticruise(Scania) and I-Shift(Volvo) are both “learning” gearboxes so they basically learn how to behave from your driving over time, my gearbox in my scania is also GPS controlled so it usually knows when we’re approaching a climb or downhill even before I do myself
This isn’t opticruise
I actually have to use the foot I normally put up on the dash lmao
The 730 sounds like a good vacuüm cleaner imho. The old 14 and 16litre in the 4 series had a great sound tho
Yeah original the 580 sounds better than the 730, me and an old coworker discussed that and both agreed on that, he’s got a 730 nowadays
Indeed but a 730 never lacks om HP haha
Cuz the engine in the 730 doesn’t have to work as much as 580 meaning the 580 makes a more beautiful sound when working
True
But I cross mountains daily with my 580 with a total weight of 48t ish and never have any problems, sure it goes a bit slower up the hills but hey I still get to my destinations
Driving would be boring sat at 90 all the time 🤷🏻♂️
Back in the 90s you were the man with a 380 haha. Our fl7 got 230hp and gets there too. Indeed slower but its dry 👍
Yeah I used to drive an old F7 I think it was called before and my god the stick in that one was so fat
Fun as hell to drive tho
Haha great trucks back then. Nowaydays they are all pumped with computers
True
My first job I had I drove a DAF CF container truck with stick shift
Only 8 spd gearbox tho
And happy as a kid in a candy store i quess😎
I can imagine. Great trucks. Lot of space too inside.
Yeah even tho it’s a cf the cab was fairly large inside
I know. Buddy of mine had one. Never knew they were so big inside. We both could stand in it but we couldnt do it in a 105 space cab hehe.
Why do both of you need to stand up in the cab 😬😬
😂 changing while driving haha. But to get in bed its nice to have not youre regular clothes on 😬
I dont understand the fetish for jake sound
Its like throwing a rock into a tin can and shaking
well IMO i love it but i have been a IRL truck driver for 14 years
34 here
The only good sound, comes from the beer bottle you put on it😂
Doesnt beat a Cummins N14
Old engines make a better sound indeed.
True
Jake brake snoring
😂
I'd rather hear a cat c15. I like the sound of reliability
Every time I see an American come in this channel I’m like booyyy you came to the wrong neighbourhood
Every time they’re adamant about their trucks being better, when in reality the only advantage is they’re houses on wheels
👆 😂 👍
lol so true 😉
@dense kraken Thats cause im that guy haha
In most of Europe you’d be stuck with a peterbilt
I ve been in some usa cabs. Got claustrophobic in the drivers seat😂
Well I guess the fetish around Jake brakes is the same as the fetish towards straight pipes on Scania V8s, some like it, some don't thats just how it works all over the world with everything
