It’s sooooooo good
||I do at least appreciate the fact they were straightforward about the fact people are dying, soldiers and civilians, its not just being mean||
b1e10 ||Also always a fan of Sokka getting to be cool as a non-Bender||
||I like to think Katara thinks Sokka's dead here||
||They even used the D word!||
Whelp, halfway through season 1. I understand the next episode is one I'm supposed to watch, like, a million times, for the true atla experience?
googles the episode list

Is it the great divide?
yes
Great Divide is one of the best of book 1
Classic Great Divide
But nothing holds a candle to Blue Spirit IMO
You will get jumped in some cities for saying this
Fortune Teller is my least favorite of book 1 tbh
We’re just setting her up for failure
It's the first episode I ever saw xD
I don't remember that one at all but I'm excited to form an opinion
“But… But… adjust for inflation!!!”
best book one episode is 12 imo
god theres a joke i really wanna make here
Im calling it right now, RDJ doom is gonna be one of the worst adaptations of a comic book villain that were gonna get
Itll be good just nothing like doom
Which i dont even know any good doom stories
He is really just an aura farmer
i doubt itll even be good
itll be an incredibly directioneless and slop doom
I'm going with the fan theory that it's some kind of misdirection having him show up as Doom
Otherwise, I have faith in the MCU's ability to make a good story, they've had way more hits than misses
That's less true than it used to be and boy when someone from Marvel comes out and talks about why their flops flopped they sound insane sometimes
My personal operating assumption is it'll be a like, Doom stole his world's Tony's body thing based on some teases.
I do have a bit of selection bias because if I'm not sold on a movie I wait until word of mouth and go see it based on that. Thunderbolts* and Fantastic Four I guess were the first ones in a while I knew I wanted to see from the trailers alone
I'll give Doom this: he's a oneliner specialist
Doom also strays into an archetype I specifically dislike which is the intelligence-so-intense-it-basically-becomes-clairvoyance
Fr I’ve grown to hate Sherlock type characters
(Not elementary Sherlock though, he’s nice)
I just hate it when I feel like the author is jacking off the character, it makes me actively annoyed
Did someone mention the God Emperor of Dune?
The most egregious example I can think of is Death Note where people are apparently so intelligent they begin arguing with each other from across time and space
And it’s peak
Like that episode in regular show ||when mordecai and rigby became so smart they couldnt understand "stupid" people anymore 😭||
Still one of the best Death Note videos I’ve seen
https://youtu.be/9hEHOaZYEeE?si=J91G9weVnLmZ6JDL
Light Yagami must look weird as hell to the people around him lmao.
Hey, I'm a game developer and artist who makes cool stuff! Check it out!

God you just reminded me of BBC sherlock
Ending so bad it convicned the fans there was asecret ending
tbf Death Note is adapted from a manga, so the internal monologues probably aren't supposed to be as long in-universe
TMA 160: ||This had been bugging me for this relisten. How was Jon marked by the Hunt? The others all have a clear incident, but the Hunt? When did Jon develop a deep fear of the Hunt?||
TMA 160 ||i think it was when daisy attacked/tried to kill him in... episode 91 iirc?||
TMA ||it's when Daisy gets him right after Mike, yeah||
||and probably any early interaction with Daisy didn't help||
I love the episode where his ||secret sister is so smart that the only way she knows how to get anyone to give her attention is to kill a bunch of people. Truly a relatable struggle.
-# /j||
You know who really was a good super intellectual? Station from Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey
taylor swift would release a 30th special edition of the tortured poets department to block the vampire lestats spot on the billboard chart and within 24 hrs travis kelce would go missing
In honor of the IWTV s3 preview
Triumph and Torment
that's like the one good doom story
That is one more than expected
I feel like to be that level of character you have to do something
I cant think of any of Doom’s plots
Compare with the Joker or Green Goblin
Starting a run through No Reservations again and I miss this man being in the world.
They really saved on the animation budget
I mean the internal monologue is more a structure than a sign of intelligence like a spotlight in a play. The actual logic and deduction in death note is actually pretty down to earth
atla b1e11 ||I am not even five minutes into this episode and I already just wanna skip it. I don't remember this episode coming up constantly like I hear it did... but I definitely remember it the most clearly of anything else I've seen||
It’s a fully contained episode so they replayed it alot
It's a very divise episode
Hopps & Wilde are BACK 🦊🐰
Get ready for #Zootopia2, only in theaters November 26!
After cracking the biggest case in Zootopia’s history, rookie cops Judy Hopps (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (voice of Jason Bateman) find their partnership isn’t as solid as they thought when Chief Bogo (voice of Idris Elba) orders them to j...
I did, in fact, skip it
Episode 12 was pretty good though. And I know episode 13 by name 👀
now featuring an even more misguided allegory for social issues
That one's one of my favorites because of the way it ended.
||Aang just straight up lying to two groups of people as a means to end their conflict and showing no remorse for it. It tripped something in my kid brain when I first watched it and he admitted that he fully made up his little story about the origin of the feud.||
||I remembered it too well and too specifically, beginning to end||
I'm pretty sure that's why a lot of people don't like it
atla b1e11 ||I know I don't like it because its just a very simple episode with a very simple moral that gets signposted in the first five minutes; "learn to get along and meet in the middle or you'll make things worse for everyone". I wanna say I liked it as a kid, but I don't think it'll hold up for me as an adult||
atla b1e14 ||I was on board for this episode but I'll admit I'm maybe not terribly excited for an Aang/Katara/Random new girl love triangle where Sokka suggests Aang be meaner and may implicitly be unaware he's referring to Katara when he's talking about who he's interested in and not the new girl||
b1e14 || This episode I think is in the running along with 11 for least enjoyable B1 episode (or all books episodes) in general. For me it has more individual funny/cool individual scenes than 11 and has a bit more in terms of world building that it edges out ahead of 11 in many ways ||
wow mistborn adaptation can finally happen guys /s

Amazon is investing into Showrunner, an AI-generated streaming service

Great the era of AI slop comes to TV
These companies think we’re dumb
Genuinely insulting
Grok is this real
chatgpt, I want you to generate an episode of the Mistborn show but give Vin huge honkers
I am a big fan of gen AI! <insert racism here>
Vin woke up under the stair of her uncle’s house. She had big honkers
also the show needs to have a happy ending and all the antagonists need to have a big red circle identifying them at all times thanks
Grok, give me an episode of Mistborn that features Kelsier doing lines of coke off of Sazed’s big naturals.
👀
Withers is ready to hand off this gauntlet
Done! And as a bonus I gave him a monologue about how women are poisoning the world!
Huge honkers fell from the sky.
The Gandalf->Withers->Sazed throughline is wild
Excuse me?
Gandalf Big Naturals
Withers Big Naturals (from BG3)
Sazed Big Naturals
What isnt clicking for you?
in less AI-generated news, my dad is buying a ticket for Fantastic Four and just discovered that there are 4D showings in the local cinema
with shaky chairs, water and light effects
i am fascinated by the idea that a normal movie comes with a 4D version
(he's going to see it, of course, so he'll report to me how it worked out)
Some would say that all movies have light effects
some would say that, yes
Film revisionism is crazy
Because what do you mean people think that TASM 2 is the best Spider-Man movie
Its funny seeing younger zoomers watch the prequelsification of movie they remember being bad
or are they just not as bad as it seemed at the time?
Who shot first?
-# I've never seen either of these movies
I mean I’ve rewatched the prequels and TASM 2
I did think it was overhated
It isn't good but it wasn't unwatchable
MINUS Revenge of the Sith the prequels just suck honestly
They've had twenty years of memes to buff down the hard edges
And even ROTS has its problems
Memes ≠ this movie is suddenly good
IMO
Right but nearly everything that makes them bad (and there's a lot!) has an associated meme making it bad (endearing) instead of bad (offputting) for many people
I think in a lot of ways the cringe of the prequels has become charming in a humorous way and the cringe isn’t seen as a bad thing anymore
I think it’s a bad thing tbh
George Lucas cannot write dialogue for the life of him
That's the way I see it, the movies haven't got better, they've gotten more enjoyable through cultural context
Maybe I’m just a negative Nelly but idk
Agreed, like story is rough in the prequels, but the Sound Effects and Fight Choreography blows out of the water everything in the sequel trilogy for example
Different audiences going in with different expectations, different preconceived notions.
In many ways with a clearer perspective.
I've actually soured on the prequel fight choreography over the years
The CGI has aged poorly and the fight choreography strays from the very fast paced into the ridiculous more often than I was prepared to see as a kid
And being pretty directly contemporary to Lord of the Rings doesn't help its case either
LotR has broadly aged very well
Yeah. I think of them in a similar way to the more cringey aspects of the OT, part of the charm that makes it unique.
There's a reason some people recommend watching them with the Japanese dub so you don't know what the characters are saying
I turn off sound excellent silent movies
I read this sentence like three times and it made less sense every time
no, don't turn the sound off entirely
you still need the sound effect and soundtrack
also #1364954784737792102 is right there
Superman has Punkrocker and Batman has Something In The Way, what should Wonder Woman’s song be
I think it’s an obligation for them to each have a song
thats what the sound system and playlist
is for
Please lord god lend these casting directors the strength to cast the right people, amen 🙏 🙏 https://x.com/discussingfilm/status/1950603617003520435?s=46
Casting for ‘X-MEN’ will begin soon.
Marvel will be looking for younger talent, rather than A-listers, to “keep the cost down”
(Source: https://t.co/Sc9hJge9PR)
Pearline as Storm, please 😌✨️
Cook
I wish they'd make a live action show of X-Men
Especially the ones with large casts
And when I say this is a good Spider-Man movie?
You can be wrong
I can't agree or disagree on account of me not caring about Spiderman at all, spiderverse beinh a massive exception of course
A good MCU movie, sure. A good movie overall even. But idk about good Spider-Man movie
I think the MCU Spider-man movies do a decent-to-good job balancing being Spider-man movies and being MCU movies
The compromise always breaks for the MCU of course, but I don't think they're bad Spider-man movies either
I think it’s a good Spider-Man movie
Feels like Lee and Ditko come to life
WHAT ARE THEY IMPLYING WITH THAT F4 AFTERCREDITS SCENE
F4 ||that the cartoon was very popular and Thing says “IT’S CLOBBERING TIME” a lot ||
||their good friend victor came to visit :) /j||
Who’s that 😭
F4 ||Victor Vonn Doom aka Doctor Doom||
||and by good friend i mean primary antagonist||
Ok thanks for clarifying, I know next to nothing about Marvel comics lmao.
F4 || hes also the major antagonist of the upcoming Avengers Doomsday||
Figures.
Anyways, the movie was really good. Highly enjoyed it
||they fought the equivalent of a god and won. Actually, good lady Susan did most of the work there, died, and was resurrected by her child. Jesus complex much?/j||
My theory for F4 was so much better than what we got
F4 ||I really thought they’d lose their earth and galactus would send them hurtling through the multiverse into Earth 616.
I imagined a shot of the four of them at Times Square on earth 616 looking around and we close in on Pedro’s face and he says “Oh no…” and it cuts to black.
I thought galactus would be the next big bad with RDJ’s Von Doom our uneasy ally in bringing him down. Cuz so long as galactus wins, Von Doom can’t.||
Fantastic Four
Michael Giacchino really had fun with the names of these songs
You've got this, friend. Hold fast
Meanwhile, I finally got around to Thunderbolts* because the kid went to sleep relatively early. [+ a video game allusion] ||So that was essentially a Persona dungeon at the end, lol.||
Just watched all 3 sonic movies for whatever reason
And gotta say, I really enjoyed the third one. The first two felt a bit childish for my tastes but the third was just
Star Trek SNW S3 E4 || love epps like this, also looks like they had a lot of fun as actors recreating and riffing on the og star trek, such good pallet cleansers these last two epps with how serious the gorn stuff has been||
Goat is another Sony movie coming out and I do love the art style
However I also find it very funny that every Sony movie has been like "hey guys remember we made spiderverse so please watch this" 😭
Among the projects being bandied about at Netflix are a stage musical, live-action remake, series and, of course, a pair of sequels to round out a full-on “KPop Demon Hunters” film trilogy, a third person familiar with the situation told TheWrap.
Additionally, much like “Frozen,” there is a short film being discussed to serve as “bridge content” between the mainline features, according to a fourth person familiar with the company’s plans.
...
If there is one snag to the streamer’s plans for aggressive “KPop Demon Hunters” expansion, it’s the fact that original directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans have yet to sign onto additional projects.
That last line is... mildly troubling to say the least 😅
Also live action remake?? Seriously 😒
Yeah, this movie doesnt need a live action remake. The animation style is part of the charm for me.
And if the ordinal directors don't sign on, I doubt they'll be that good 😔. Might become a no movie in ba sing se situation
Something something the higher ups think the same movie remade with real people will appeal to the masses
Which makes no sense because this movie ALREADY appeals to the masses!
The worst part is that HTTYD and lilo both prove this point with their box office, both of them made TONS of money (lilo and stitch in particular makes me wildly upset)
I think they should do a live action kpop demon hunters and keep all of the uncanny facial expressions and stuff like abs and popcorn, but leave the rest of the effects out to dry
I was personally fine with live actin httyd.
Make Gwi-ma just like a campfire, not even with the people coloring. Remove the look of the demons, just make their eyes shimmer or something.
Blow the whole budget on making this live action
ok but if it were really netflix's frozen WHERE IS THE MERCH for me for my child
like, honestly shocking they didn't think to do dolls here when it looks like they did some for Over the Moon
OMG
GUYS
MY FAVORITE YT CHANNEL HAS RISEN FROM THE DEAD 🤩
For context ive been a huge alpharad/friends without benefits fan for YEARS (since high school) and FWOB went defunct a while ago
But now theyre back as The After Party and Jacob is with them!!
Its so funny because his vibe is completely different with him compared to everyone else he plays games with 😂
Netflix is considering making 2 sequels to ‘K-POP: DEMON HUNTERS’
A live-action remake is also being considered.
(Source: https://t.co/BThuXiwGlF)
Not even waiting a few years for a remake is nasty
The movie was released barely a month ago 😭
I think it makes some amount of sense bc it was not released in theaters
Sure! Maintain the momentum for as long as you can
considered doesn't mean greenlit though
yeah based on this article they are literally considered every possible form of media including stage musicals
You like this one thing we’ll get ready piggies we’re going to force feed it to you in every form possible
milk the cash cow dry
sell the fans literally every random product, but with the logo on, drain those suckers dry to feed the shareholders
They’re gonna do a Saja Boys LLM aren’t they?
That's not merch 😭
T-shirts, towels, water bottles, there's a whole industry for this already
Though I am certain all 5 of them are on character.ai already
I would like a stage musical
I've seen ads from the netflix store for all manner of kpdh stuff
115 products apparently, so yeah a lot of merch which I honestly find surprising
I also didn't know netflix had an online store until I saw the ad
Apparently they were really short on merch initially and have been scrambling since then to get more
Update from my dad about the Fantastic Four showing in 4D: the 4D was not worth the price of admission
The water effects were barely there, the light effects were nonexistent, and chairs shook so much, it was difficult to focus on the movie itself
Or as he put it, "I had to grip the armrests or I'd fall out of the chair"
How much was it
https://youtu.be/lmQDWv7zJtQ?si=nb5pi2igN1Qhv2MT
this trailer has made me lose any interest in seeing miles teller play the maker
Mostly because he looks so different from the fantastic four character he played
Also the concept of this movie feel like the “bad place”
Check out the trailer for Eternity, an upcoming film starring Miles Teller, Elizabeth Olsen, Callum Turner, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, and John Early.
In an afterlife where souls have one week to decide where to spend eternity, Joan (Elizabeth Olsen) is faced with the impossible choice between the man she spent her life with (Miles Teller) and her f...
Oh love triangle
I never really got the whole 4D thing
Why would I wanna watch a movie where water splashes in my face
double the normal price
immersion, i suppose
and the novelty, the novelty is why dad went for it
How old is ur dad
~50
I get more immersion with IMAX tbh

Ppl that age don’t usually go for all that gimmicky hoopla
Alright, back to atla
its 15 and 16 on the docket for today, and I think I know what's gonna happen in the latter, based on the ttile 👀
atla b1e15 ||Aang thoroughly failing to really get into any of the catch-yp Sokka and Katara are doing is neat||
||Also, thoroughly convinced that guy the shirshu rider was arm wrestling is Ryu from Street Fighter||
||Very quick turnaround here from "Aang doesn't want his friends to leave so he hides the map" to "Aang's guilty conscious leads him to come clean, and Katara and Sokka to part ways from him" to "Sokka and Katara realize they were too harsh and decide to get back with Aang"||
||Also, goddamn, even Appa gets a badass fight scene? does everyone in this series get to have one?||
atla b1e16 ||Oh hey, the Blue Spirit had a wanted poster!||
b1e16 ||eyy, that's a fun little bit of (fairly straightforward) foreshadowing! Fun to do that sometimes||
Atla b1e15 || This ep suffers a lot from the quick pace of the episodic nature of the show. Gotta resolve the episode's plot within the episode for most episodes and this is one of the most glaring. Maybe the only one that is so glaring it does kind of take me out of immersion ||
||Also very fun, imo, to have Zhao so easily manipulated here, after also losing to Zuko. I've seen it mentioned that one the series' big themes is the difference between power and control, and how the latter always bests the former in the end, and its fun to see it come up so early in a sort of heirarchical way like that (foubly so since Zuko's Agni Kai with Zhao was clearly a moment of development for him; he didn't just win because because he was more in control of himself, being bacled into a corner like that made him learn to control himself better. See also: the Blue Spirit being so effective alongside Aang, because its Zuko enacting some self control to enact a counter-intuitiveplan like helping the Avatar escape Fire Nation custody, forcing him to reckon with his actual goals and beliefs)||
Anyways, might just go ahead and wrap up the rest of the season tonight. Only four episodes left, and I did a fair bit of moving chores, considering I also had to work...
atla b1e17 ||Oh this is another one I remember really liking||
||Yeah this is great so far||
||oh hey, yeah, the war machines||

KDH meme for all the enjoyers here
I, for one, will be keeping this in mind
Y'all what has happened
I shared this link and IMMEDIATELY my algorithm shifted and it is now 90% KDH
Yep, sounds about right
It's a little surreal because even when it figured out I was gay I wasn't getting content this aggressively
One of my friends hasn't even seen the movie and it's taken over her feeds
Hey, Epic the Musical people, i see references every so often to like, mvs or animatics
Are those an actual official thing, or is the only official stuff just the songs?
There are some commissioned animatics, but they aren't for entire songs, usually just a snippet
If you watch any of the live streams you'll see them
I think Jorge has also posted some on their own on his page?
Thank you ElianZiS for this horrifying and beautiful animatic!! Thank you Smoolio for developing the storyboard!! EPIC: The Thunder Saga, ft. KJ Burkhauser as Scylla, is OUT NOW!!!
This is one of my favorites for example
So for consuming the story there's no official mv thing or anything, got it
Didn’t like the new Superman movie but talked about how we would probably watch the next one if they brought in Brainiac
Doesn’t want to watch it even if it had Brainiac in it
What does he mean by this
I cannot imagine liking brainiac. Except the Legion one. Brainiac 5 is great
Brainiac is boring i will say it
I do think he’d be a good villain for this Superman just for the Bottle City of Kandor. More of his people would really get to this Clark, and to the audience after Kara’s remembrances of Krypton that I assume will be in her spinoff film
What is this
looks like a tweet to me
Wym it ended after season 2
Weird that they didn't go for Jeremy Allen Green instead
Fantastic 4 was decent
First peek at the new Spider-Man suit for Brand New Day 👀 https://fxtwitter.com/spidermanmovie/status/1951266675690438828?s=46
Oh please, dad is all about gimmicky hoopla
For better or worse, at times 😓
Dangit now its in my head
Fortunately you now have an image to use as a reaction
atla b1e18 ||Oh, a three parter, that is unexpected||
THE PHAAAAAAAAAANTOM OF THE OPERA IS HERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRE
INSIDE MY MINNNNNNNNNNNND!!!!
||Furthermore: Iroh singing was a lot of fun, short as it was||
||Furtherermore: Sokka flirting with Yui is immediately a lot of fun, which is extremely refreshing after the previous romance-based story beats (Actually, Sokka and the Kyoshi warrior were cute... Maybe I'm just not into Kataang)||
atla b1e18 ||Oh, its the pirates, I forgot they came back 👀||
atla b1e19 ||Zuko infiltrating the Northern Water Tribe is one of the most intense moments in the show so far, absolutely love it... I've also forgotten what his plan here was! Like, presumably he wants to capture the Avatar and exfiltrate on his own, or else repeat his Blue Spirit stunt and ensure he at least escapes safely, but... idk for sure!||
||1. Capture the avatar
2. ???
3. Regain My Honour||
Wow discord, that is some bad formatting
||Oh I know his end goals, I'm wondering how he thinks infiltrating the Northern Water Tribe will further them, and whether he's defaulting to "exfiltrate with the Avatar" or "Ensure he escapes Zhao" as his plan A||
Finale time!
but first, popcorn
atla b1e20 ||Quality rope||
atla good
it sure is
Anyways, onto season 2
atla season 1 all ||Really really interested in the Fire Lord already knowing that Iroh betrayed him||
atla all ||Wait... Secret Tunnel isn't from season 1? I wonder what other things I remember are gonna be from later than I realized||

We gotta talk about how long they play commercials for. Why isn't the movie playing when it says that it should.
So... this plan aged like fine milk, huh?
Unless instead of 2 episodes every week or so, you meant 20 episodes every week or so
Look, moving chores are going faster than expected
That is what I like about my local theater. There is only maybe 10 minutes of trailers. Which is the perfect amount in my opinion. I went to an AMC and the trailers took 30 minutes.
Im not complaining, been 🍿 ing your reaction all along xD
Just thought it was funny that you are already 2 eps into S2
and I stopped to think...has it really already been several weeks since heat started Atla? Feels like it was just last week. Lo and behold, it was xD
I saw a vid of some guy who snuck in Wingstop to the theater
The whole process of ||faking a pacemaker in order to get a doctor’s note in order to get by the metal detector in the stadium|| is the type of insanity that makes me love NFY
Yeah, I checked the time and it was 28 minutes.

Cinema Therapy is covering KDH!
Superman was alright. Not great but not horrible, though I do think it was a little too preachy.
4/10 Owls.
Interesting
Care to elaborate?
It felt... How can I say this... Kind of boring? It felt like... It was made by a whole boardroom, kind of making it not as fun. Cgi wasn't the best either.
It was but... I don't think it was good either.
for me, it felt like the film had too specific an opinion, too much of a real opinion to feel like it was a movie by committee
that's my criticism of the MCU now heh :P
Yeah, I feel like it was trying to have a political opinion but was too scared to actually go through with it, and it seemed to turn into a joke, making it not take itself seriously.
I mean they go pretty far with it
It’s very much a commentary of what’s going on in our real world
But again
That’s neither here nor there
Btw Fantastic Four Twas good, 8/10 for me
The thing is, if you are going to do it. DO IT. Take it seriously. And use real countries. It makes it seem like they don't take it seriously and play it off for laughs.
The film would be dead in the water by the WB execs if they used any real countries
Plus, films use allegories ALL THE TIME
That's also just a thing in comics, DC especially
And I do feel like Superman took political issues seriously
And that is why the message dies. It wasn't taken seriously.
I think it’s taken pretty seriously tbh
Plus, comics have always been an allegory for the real world
And comics never take themselves serious
I feel like comics and superheroes use allegories/fictional set pieces to further narratives all the time. Theres a reason why I prefer xmen over most of them
As much as I think superman is a good superhero movie, I think it did its job sending a message well~
Being safe, haven't seen the movie, this is about comic history+movie preview stuff ||Boravia has been a thing since 1939, where the plotline is not too far off from the basic set up in the movie, just adapted to modern context||
But thats the beauty of comics and superheroes; there's one for everyone!
Watching superman made me realize that... he wasnt for me, but for the people he was for, it works really well!
I do feel like X-men generally is better at it though.
I did like Smallville.
I love how this movie has really made so many people realize “Hey maybe Superman isn’t boring”
I know it’s been said a thousand times, but Zack Snyder did so much damage to his character
Hes not! Though... I felt really bad after seeing the memes about him and im just like "he was alright!" He didnt give me the brain worms I was expecting
yeah I went into this not really caring about Superman and I LOVED this movie. it's a 9/10 at minimum
I loved corenswet's performance, I thought it was fascinating. he made Superman interesting
Despite me saying that it was a little boring?
well there's been a few things in this channel (me included) where I said something like that
me and my sibs were RAVING about this movie the moment we walked out
also the DC universe has lots of fake cities and countries, I personally am scratching my head on how it's lesser bc it's a metaphor. we all knew what it meant, right
I generally try to have a high standard for things. It felt like an average movie for me. 5 is what I consider an average movie. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't bad..
General consensus has been great, but if the movie wasn’t for you, then I completely understand
Yeah thats valid!
I cannot comprehend thinking the use of allegory means a story isn't being serious
mmhm, we don't all have to like the same things
The great thing about opinions
My personal gripe doesnt really come from him but moreso longing for more superheros that emit that feeling and look like me 😂
I do disagree with a lot of the reasoning? but that's okay too
If we didn’t have them, then the world would be boring
I was in love from (Superman) ||"golly". and not for nothing, I was very taken aback (pleasantly) by how deep his voice was. like... oh 😳 ||
Superman ||That “Miss Lane” did things to me tbh||
I hadn't seen any trailers or promo or anything, so I hadn't heard anything
Superman ||They make fun of the country villain, making him ugly, weak, etc, as the guy is the representative of the country, making fun of him makes fun of the country, treating it as a joke instead of a serious problem. To me it is like when in marvel films they are all serious, in action but bam random joke is thrown in and it throws you out. But here, doing that means more because if you are trying to do serious political commentary, you need to treat it seriously and not as a joke.||
OMG SAME?? ||The moment someone told me that fine af man was 6'4, I needed no other information I was already in the wedding dress 🥰||
Superman ||Did the turtle survive?
||
I don't think I agree with this but I also don't want to argue. I feel differently
Fantastic 4 ||My favorite part was when Clobber said "It's clobberin' time" and clobbered all over the bad guys||
Watching the new F4 made me realize the F4 are probably the comics for me
F4 FS ||SAY IT. SAY THE LINE. SAY IT. ||
See?? Everyone's got one 😂💖
That was me with Moon Girl tbh
-# wow the black girl in stem likes the black girl superhero in stem, unprecedented behavior
F4 is just so
Stretchy man is silly and does cool science stuff while being a wife man.
Fantastic 4 ||Still not lost on me that Johnny gets Ben to say his catchphrase but Johnny doesn’t say “Flame On!” Once in this movie
||
May I introduce you to Ironheart
Oh I am already waaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of you on that front my friend~ i just dont have D+ right now
Like that show is so perfect because not only is it about a black superhero girl in stem but also my husband Anthony Ramos is in it??? Say less 🤭
I am still waiting for spiderverse 3. O.o
I’m waiting for it to get delayed again
So is Sony
It’s fine
It's coming out in... 2027?
Atleast we get Brand New Day next summer
Im not gonna be normal when beyond the spiderverse drops, warning yall now
And hopefully, fingers crossed a Wonder Woman movie in 2027
Id like that~
WW is my favorite of DCs big three
-# I am full of predictable opinions
I think they might go the origin story route
In a perfect world we get absolute ww
Hopefully more than a surface level attempt at girl power
The trailer for Project Hail Mary looked good. 👀
Absolute is way too new, and I think way too tonally off xD
I’m going to assume WW isn’t a hero yet, I feel like they would have mentioned her in Superman
All they need to do is just adapt George Perez run on WW
Please be good
And it’s also going to be nice to have again fingers crossed an actual actress play Wonder Woman this time
That would be nice
As long as its not as boo boo ugly as ww84 I will literally give it a standing ovation
Honestly I blame it a lot more on the writing than Gadot
slams fist Give me Ferdinand!
I think she was fine in WW 1
The direction also wasnt terrible in ww1
Like its a fine superhero movie the animated one is still better
Well they had a good director
Superman ||Supergirl looked cute
||
I feel like Gal Gadot’s bad acting works a LOT better in WW1 because she’s SUPPOSED to be awkward and unaccustomed to the human world
Is it not the same for both?? I have no clue, ww84 just fills me with blind rage
Which one???
The 2009 one?
That one was good
It is but one of the great breaking bad directors and producers was the original director for WW
Give her a magical girl anime transformation like Lynda Carter and I will be happy
I mean they clearly had no idea what made it good
Ww84 was such a weird movie (/neg)
yeah I love my 80s inspired movie to be full of greys and neutral colors
-# I prefer the skirt
The skirt is cute!
I really like her fit in the animated movie War... the silver adds such a sleek touch
Like give me more of my queen
If they’re gonna do a skirt I would like them to do the silver age skirt
Like what is interesting about WW character wise that makes her unique beyond WOMAN ? (Not a criticism, literally asking so we can do more character understanding than DC movie execs did)
You're such a traditionalist :p
I hope we get a Superman 2025 but for wonder woman
The battle skirt has been growing on me but I’m still not the biggest fan of it tbh
I like the battle skirt or pants most
Armor makes most of her designs instantly better also
Wonder Woman has been in desperate need of a revitalization, this movie better solidify her as THE role model for an entire generation of girls
I HOPE they don’t go the origin story route yet again with this movie, especially since we already HAVE a great origin story movie in WW 1, but I have a feeling that’s the route they’re going to take
For me (and tbis is coming from someone whos seen 1 animated ww movie + JL/JLU years ago) shes very headstrong and unapologetic? Like someone said she'd be chaotic good on an alignment chart, since yeah shes gonna fight for good in her own way and screw anyone else (sometimes this can be her own team)
Like shes bold but flawed and im drawn to that moreso than batman and even superman tbh
Which means she has a lot of room to grow and change and no one ever uses it
I think this approach is backwards. We don’t need another unobtainable levels perfection woman role model
The 09 movie does a really good job at it imo
I don't think role models need to be perfect tbf
Right! Like I adore diana because shes not perfect and shes arguably the most flawed of the big 3
One could even argue having flaws makes a better role model
Like Bruce and clark gotta be the ones to hold her back because she will body check you 😭
Then it is obvious what must be done...
Wonder Woman: G-Pop Demon Hunter
She’s the most metal of the three
Theres a JL/JLU (cant remember which) episode ||Where clark "dies" and diana immediately rushes the villian to try and kill him, shes so based||
Role model is down stream of building a deep character and a great movie. The goal of establishing her as role model is the exact thing that WW84 tried and failed miserably at
100000% agree
-# the moral disintegrity of the actress didnt help
You joke but a K-Pop demon hunters type animated movie with Wonder Woman would go hard
Wonder Woman doing Greek rap while fighting the hordes of Hades
When 84 came out the big knock on her was the cringey celebrity singing video she was apart of
But also we’re branching into rules stuff
Better ending than WW 1
DC movies general ||They skipped past origin story with Superman (and Batman for that matter)||
I could see them doing an "origin" story that doesn't get too bogged down in the minutia of her past
You know, Wonder Woman as a modern day Hercules would be an interesting angle
DC Movies ||Creature Commandos says that Themyscira is “perhaps mythical, perhaps real” so unless she’s just operating from the shadows, idk if she’s a hero yet||
Their like, current line-up of planned movies is so bizarre it's hard to guess what the meta plot might be
It’ll be interesting for sure
I need a release date for Lanterns NOWWW
We still don’t have one
You know, if they don't have a plan for a meta plot, it's still better than rushing into crossovers before even having a Batman movie like the DCEU
Gunn has said that there’s currently a 10 year plan
Once they get the Trinity solo movies out of the way, I think we might have a better understanding of the meta plot
soviet DC
Yeah I assume there's a meta plot, but Gunn is such a like super dork he's pulling out all sorts of deep cut niche stuff
That’s my only problem
We want these movies to make money and be successful right??
But who the hell is going to go see a Clayface movie
-# me
tbf you could say that about GotG
Also Clayface definitely has potential to be interesting
Like I think Clayface will be good, I love Mike Flanagan, but general audiences won’t be interested in it
The thing about the MCU was that it drew in general audiences
Is Clayface part of Gunn's universe or is it Elseworld?
But trying to replicate the MCU is a death sentence (see, Exhibit A: The Snyderverse)
Part of his universe
Might also be where we get our first look at Batman
I’m definitely certain that we’re building up to a Superman and Supergirl team up movie (which is the sequel, but not really sequel, that Gunn has been teasing that he’s writing)
Almost forgot Peacemaker releases this month too
Honestly it is barely a metaphor
It just does the thing it is talking about
yep
Tom Holland as Spider-Man in ‘SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY’
︀︀
︀︀In theaters on July 31, 2026.
Is it? Even by Marvel standards this is a nothingburger teaser
The suit looks good?
I just wish they showed the mask
Hardly a nothingburger teaser tbh, he has a new suit
can't wait for it to be replaced by a cgi suit in 90% of the shots in the movie
How can it be a Holland Spider-Man movie if the title doesn't include "Home"?
I guess that just means he’s homeless now
It's part of a new trilogy
Presumably the next two will also have "Day"
Maybe it will be “Brand”
Spider-Man: Brand Deals Galore
Spider-Man: Branded Vigilante
The MCU desperately needs a HARD reboot after Secret Wars
I dunno about that
"Ignoring plot lines that didn't land" is a strategy they can meaningfully deploy only sparingly but it has more or less been working for them so far
Helps that Secret Wars went fairly unwatched as far as I can tell
secret invasion was the show
secret wars is the next next avengers movie
Make street level spiderman a twitch streamer
Flash is right there
That is a sidequest in the first of the two recent Spider-man games
Only Spidey game I played was Web of Shadows lol
They're good!
Shudders in ||Danica ||
Their take on Screwball is pretty fun
Started watching schitt's creek, phenomenal show
“Chat should I let Black Cat go this time, Mods let’s run a poll”
Crazy how I’m living in a timeline where a DC movie outgrosses an MCU movie https://x.com/discussingfilm/status/1951692568384721388?s=46
‘THE FANTASTIC FOUR’ earned $11.7M domestically yesterday, a 80% drop from its opening day.

Me: YES
I mean, *gestures at DC and Marvel movies in the 20th century*
I mean in the MCU era
DC has always played second fiddle to Marvel in terms of box office in the MCU era
The Dark Knight and Iron Man both came out in 2008
Huh
stacked year my goodness
Was expecting Iron Man to at least be in the top three
Hancock out selling iron man lol
I can't believe cinematic masterpiece Star Wars: The Clone Wars (movie) isn't on here
People used to really like will smith
This was seventeen years ago
Hancock was the beginning of the end for him
That or After Earth, whichever came first
Well, it was the start of the MCU, and the MCU has been declining, so it seems fairly comparable
DC had the better brand at the time
Hancock coming out the same year as Crystal Skull feels weird to me, for some reason I remember a very distinct line (moving from michigan to florida as a kid) separating them
Lies

Bill shares his thoughts, analysis, breakdown and review of KPOP DEMON HUNTERS the hit Netflix animated movie created by Maggie Kang from Sony Animation Studios! After listening to the music, and watching the film SO MANY TIMES I need to keep talking about this movie and overanalyze the characters and story! Rumi Mira and Zoey are more than the ...
if you told the top 10 to me for the life of me i would never predict this order
Madagascar 2 being as high as it is is killing me 😂
I contributed to that
Thank you 6 year old Cosmic
Oh that one doesn’t suprise me at all
Omggggg
The big one for me is mamma Mia being that low that feels odd to me
I am so hyped for that set. WALL-E has been my favorite for forever
personally I can't believe more people went to see that awful indiana jones movie than kung fu panda
Always has been and always will be
I know it's just their logos, but something about how WW is represented by boobs feels weird
id suspect that was the joke
I don't even think Wonder Woman is normally in the fourth place spot
She should be
Any time I've seen numbers on it in recent years it has been Spider-man as the most popular hero in the US by a wide margin, followed by Batman and then Superman, but then fourth place seems to be determined by [recent popular movie]
I can’t think of anyone else
She’s in the fourth spot even in dc
Cap and Hulk are both commonly up there
Iron man was probably big during the mcu heyday
4th would probably be Harley Quinn tbh
I honestly wouldn’t put them up there
If you quantify her as a hero, since sometimes these kind of polls separate out heroes and villains as well
I'm not telling you what I think, I'm telling you what polling I've seen over the years says
Captain American has an argument after Endgame something but Hulk was never at this level
Wonder Woman is one of the most popular female superheroes and was one of the first, her popularity is even mainstream, she’s an honorary UN Ambassador
Oh I know, I didn’t mean to sound like I was rude to you
Apologies
Her popularity feels kinda hollow imo she’s a cultural icon but I think her die hard fanbase is smaller
the diehard Superman fanbase is also smaller
I think the answer is Wolverine btw
Harley
Spider-man and Batman are on a level of their own and everyone else is at minimum a tier below
I could see that tbh
Wonder Woman also suffers from like arguably one and a half good adaptations ever
I think it’s Superman, Batman Spider-Man Wolverine
But I feel the reason that Wonder Woman hasn’t been popular in recent years is because she really hasn’t been written well in adaptations
Not to mention her current comic run isn’t the most popular either
Wolverine isn't even Marvel's most popular hero with a healing factor (that is Deadpool)
once the new xmen movies come out that might change
I mean Superman is still a comics seller and the hostoric roll and legacy is greater there
Yeah but vs Wonder Woman
my point is choosing a top 4 does not really make sense
there is a clear Top 2, and then Superman, and then a mix of characters based on the most recent successful movies/shows/games
like at the height of the MCU it would have been Iron Man, after that it would have been Harley Quinn
Superman certainly gets a legacy spot becuase of history and being basically the originator. Even if Batman and Spider-Man sell more similar levels of iconic
if legacy counts then the 4th is Wonder Woman
I mean it certainly has an argumentalong those lines but wonder woman I think in many ways has aged worse and has a less defined legacy
Like easy among the candidates for the 4th but not as clear an inclusion
I’d argue a lot of wonder woman’s iconic nature stems from an inclusion in the zeitgeist’s as the female friendly superhero costume whereas things like Wolverine and the other options have had a more defined cultural moment and depending on the character more consistent runs
Like iron man being they mcu character
Or Wolverine as the face of X-men
the zeitgeist being one that started in the 1960s?
WW movie was tragic, struggling with normal ppl like she can’t hold her own against supes easily
the 2000s f4 was better smh
Huh critical role has recruited Brennan Lee Mulligan for the campaign 4 dm, but they refuse to stay what system they’ll use
there is no way it is, but if it were the cosmere rpg this server would probably condense into a black hole
-# also there was some discussion of the critical role news in #tabletop-games-archive
Huh

I really don’t think so
Those movies were… not good
i havent actually watched first steps but i think the 2000s one was decent
I just got my younger brother to watch KPDH.
And his thoughts 👀👀
He like it. Particularly the bird and cat.
New F4 was pretty good
I heard a random kid at the beach singing Mira’s part in How It’s Done today

Theres old doodles of the creator (Rachel) drawing herself being held by him
Let’s goooo
KPDH is so peak
Almost like it’s not superhero fatigue, it’s MCU fatigue https://x.com/discussingfilm/status/1952001565222457551?s=46
‘SUPERMAN’ will likely be the highest grossing comic book movie of 2025
The first time for DC since 2008 when the MCU started.
Read our review: https://t.co/3sWy8gsNCU
Bad movies fatigue
I think it's a combo
like... I think if those movies released when people weren't super tired of "part 158 of the ever growing saga, hope you watched every other movie and tv show and caught all the easter eggs" those movies would have grossed much higher
"this thing isn't even really a thing that can stand on its own it's just a series of tie-ins and things to build up to the other things we want you to see"
which is also how I've gotten kinda burned out on Cosmere tbh
F4 was the first MCU movie I've seen in years and I was surprised how good it was. ||It was also detached enough from the rest of the MCU that I actually wondered if it was an elseworld until the mid credit scene||
||Actually, I suppose it still could be||
F4 ||it’s in the multiverse but a world where the F4 are the only heroes||
Your most welcome
Or I’m sorry
Both
yeah both 😭👍
I need more out of you! Favorite characters, songs, jokes moments? Hottest demon? ||Did you like the bird and cat?||
“Ha ha silly K-pop movie” -> “wait this is peak”
||favorite character is obviously Rumi lmao. her scene with Celine fully broke me. favorite song is Golden right now but it might be What It Sounds Like given time bc that scene was very moving to me||
||the animation style was honestly a little too comedic/exaggerated for me at times but that's personal taste. it was really fun and effective. I can't pick a favorite joke moment there are so many, but I love the cat always trying to get the pots upright. number one sign that isn't a real cat||
||that scene took half this server, tied a bag over their head, then beat them with large sticks in a wendy’s parking lot||
||none of the ensemble demons were really characters at all so that feels unfair. but Jinu and Rumi actually had so much chemistry 😩 ||
KDH ||jinu is the only demon who remotely matters. They nailed him and rumi beat for beat||
||romance sequel????||
we can dream
Apparently we may get like 17 sequels
And maybe a live action version? Everything is being considered
Okay but Duck have you considered
They are not characters lmao
🤝
||Baby having maybe the most personality out of the unimportant ensemble remains pretty funny to me.||
2nd one is kinda cute in design but like they just aren't in the film lmao
Jinu is definitely the hottest though
See all that means is that I can project whatever I want onto them 🥰
Rumi hoarded all the character juice
wait I do know my favorite comedic moment ||it's the scene with the doctor. he cracked me up||
Turn your main character syndrome into a main character disease!
Ok but every time I think about him [KDH] ||I see him flying through the air in Free and he just looks exactly like a mannequin. He looks more like a mannequin than a person at that point. I can't get past that.||
Me, who dreams of Mystery being my husband every night: mhm mhm exactly right my friend 🥰
||all I remember is Abby is the one with abs||
||Daniel Dae Kim killing it||
I'm all for Abby personally
||but I assume they all have abs so that's kind of useless||
Illness! Happy for you tho
The power of delulu
Not necessarily! At least, not the same kind
Duck last night I had a dream about the expanse 😩 I can't escape James Holden even in my sleep now I hate this
Yesssss I’m so glad I infected you
Consciousness was a mistake
My favorite comedic moment was ||abs||
I laughed kdh ||at the over the top montage of them doing makeup to get reads to fight the saja boys||
||The leather… has betrayed ys||
||The glitter war paint just for her to apparently wash it off cause she wasn't wearing it in the full outfit is great||
||feather voice and jinu cut through that leather armor! With his demon claws!||
||"they can make hearts out of thin air??" also peak||
Someone tagged me that they were inspired by manhwa expressions and yeah. This movie was genetically engineered for me.
KDH ||-# Feather just telling everyone about her dreams unprovoked||
||Zoey just being super into Sodapop always gets a smile out of me||
it's a banger! cant blame her
||i like the manager he was fun. Also he has no idea what is going on lmao||
Kdh ||Bobby was iconic||
|| "I don't know about the whole demon thing, they seem like nice boys, but I love the energy"||
KDH ||the real hero of the movie was Derpy the tiger||
||so rumi. Full body tattoos. Were you going to tell me about them or???||
Wasn't this the whole selling point of Cosmere and MCU? This is like saying one's tired of LoTR since it has a lot description of the world which are beautifully written
Granted for MCU's, none of the movies were really that good
so it's more of quality of content issue than the universe issue
the selling point of the Cosmere, the MCU, etc should be "the books/movies/etc are good"
Not really. Like if you pick up Way of Kings in a store and read the blurb you're not necessarily buying in to a part 9 of a 60+ book series, but book 1 of 5 or 10
but also even if you like something there's such a thing as fatigue
if the books/movies/etc are not enjoyable then the fact that they tie into other books/movies/etc doesn't help
I like chocolate but if I eat it for every meal I throw up
I dunno. I always see the charm of a vast universe of interconnected arcs and etc. It's building a universe of books. As long as books are good, which have been in Cosmere, I can't see fatigue being a criticism. It's the Unique Selling Point of it
For both the MCU and the Cosmere, I think that recent entries have on average not been as good and as Poobah said, fatigue is not related to the quality of a given thing anyway
I think the key is looking at comic books. Is there comic book fatigue of people not having read all 1000 Spiderman comics to understand his crossover into the Avengers comics? No. Because every comic is treated such that you can jump in and not feel FOMO. So, instead of needing to watch every entry or read every entry, it should prioritize being able to jump in, as well as have the crossover.
I have read cosmere in a very different order, and not felt left out
Counterpoint, there isn't fatigue about that in comics because that's something that's scaring people away in the first place
I read Mistborn era 1 and era 2 at the end after finishing everything
well everything until Jan 2025
I generally do not read comics month to month and when I do it's for a specific run
Also for me with both Cosmere and MCU there's a sense of... I enjoyed the interconnectedness when that interconnectedness was represented as a few minor easter eggs, a post credits scene, maybe some small crossover/nods to other things but the main movie/book was a reasonable stand alone adventure/worked totally fine with just having seen/read the immediate prequels within its own series. But with both I feel like the crossovers and easter eggs and things setting up other things have become increasingly the main thing and the "required reading/viewing" list has grown to an excessive level
The Expanse s1 ep 1 ||I love the colors of this... but uhhh I did not expect that to be my first impression of Holden 😅||
yeah I mean thats fine, taste/enjoyment is not something where consensus is needed
fosho
It just seems crazy to me that the thing that's Cosmere had always seemed to be going towards is something people are disliking. But to each their own
I think people search for reasons to explain why they dont like it as much as they are used to when in reality it is always a combination of two things
- books arent as good as they used to be
- liking anything that much is unsustainable
The exact breakdown differs by person
It seems similar to the franchise fatigue that plagues longrunning live-service games, like how even the disturbingly saccharine FF14 community turned on the last expansion.
Omg wait expanse 1-1 all || I can’t wait to talk about the most random cameo in television ||
Expanse 1.1 ||Jimmy is alright, hes visually kinda pookie but im not a fan of his... vibe??||
You would like the actor more smh
Not safe for cosmic || it’s because he’s a sad angry boy rn. He’ll grow on her||
He is an attractive man, I cant help myself 😌✨️
Good
Steven Strait is a total dork irl
Kon-Tiki hit em with the classics
But he isn’t a ||sexual harasser|| unlike some people. CW bad workplace
Expanse show all || anyways glad they killed him and shunned the actor ||
It was a remarkably smooth handling of the situation, I don't think someone unaware of the context would feel like it's out of place.
Expanse general ||It is a shame because Alex deserved better||
Expanse ||Fred already does die there so it was a neat setup and handled well with minor reshoots||
The expanse has the most insane recurring/guest cast
||I think it is weird that they kill off a major character more-or-less offscreen but there was so much else happening that its almost blink and you'll miss it||
Wow, a lot of you have seen this
A lot of us have also read the books
It was the maybe the best sci fi show of the 2010s
So when someone new is experiencing it there tends to be a lot of Expanse chatter and in multiple channels
we're expanse shilling and no one called me?
Like its battlestar galactica but for people born after 1990
I saw you in the reacts somewhere
Galactica was the best sci fi show of the 2000s.
Yup
We get like one great one a decade
Although… feel like we’ve been getting more lately
This decade we get two seasons of Andor
Does Severance count as scifi?
hold up i was cooking lunch did i miss the part where we're (kdh) ||talking about Jinu's claws being sharp enough to slice through leather armor in one swipe 😳 ||
-# is it weird I don’t think of andor as sci fi
Yes, question mark?
Hilariously I think we don't know enough about Severance to make a good judgment call there
The first two seasons of for all man kind cook
Severance doesn't feel scifi
Oh man
And Silo. I like Silo a hell of a lot better than Foundation
I watched the first episode! Omg...
Wait you finished it!
They made some fine drama out of turning the ship around.
Severance is both 15 minutes into the future sci-fi and retrofuturism sci-fi so it doesn't feel futuristic because it's picked two of the least sci-fi feeling sci-fi genres to combine
Actually, now that the Severance withdrawals have worn off I think it is a generally better time for people to give Silo a shot
It mostly feels normal modern and where it doesn't feel modern, it feels retro
It feels like a cyberpunk outside of a city environment, kind of.
You know its a good show when im locked in for an hour AND its live action... man oh man I think I have brain worms
Silo was never going to do well in a direct head to head comparison against Severance but it isn't really trying to be Severance and is very good
Cosmic have you seen breaking bad?
Because there’s a very beloved and prominent actor from that show in episode 1 and it is the most random casting I have ever seen
hey kon...
i don't have to say it! you know what i mean
also i said i wouldn't say it, so this is me not saying it :3
uwu
Slow horses comes back September 24🤩
Apple for real is my fav streamer rn lol
Which is kinda crazy considering how rough their start was
My mom canceled apple tv :((
I was gonna watch severance! The age of me watching actors is now!!
“The age of me watching actors is now!” - Cosmic
I watched the first episode of that Jason Momoa show and it was so bad
oh no... i saw some of the promo for that, i wanted it to be good
lol I love how they’re sending me push notifications for it as of like yesterday despite never watching it
what was the Jason Momoa show
It was called See
Everyone in the world is blind in a post apocalypse except Jason Momoa's son
Wait it’s new?
Ohhhh ok wait maybe this is a different one. I was thinking of the Hawaiian historical drama one
Chief of War
Is this the second mamoa show???
No, it was one of Apple's first shows
Okay
That’s what I thought
But there’s another one that came out this month
I’m assuming because it’s has 3 episodes
Oh I've never heard of this
Might be one to watch with my parents (my dad lived in Hawaii for several years due to his father's military service and will watch nearly anything Hawaii-adjacent as a result)
What was the cameo btw?? So many people looked and sounded familiar but I drew blanks every time 😔💔
Expanse 101 ||The prior XO who killed himself||
||He's from Breaking Bad||
Him being in the original trailer is part of what got me on the books in the leadup to the show
Ohhhhhhhh!
Like when I say it is the most random cameo
That and Shoreh Aghdashloo of course
I thought you'd been talking about the ||Adam Savage|| cameo at the... end of s2?
Canonically hot Shoreh Aghdashloo
It just came out on Friday! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owdGcwufWK8
Before the Kingdom, there was war. Chief of War is now streaming on Apple TV+ https://apple.co/_ChiefOfWar
Chief of War follows the epic and unprecedented telling of the unification and colonization of Hawai‘I in the late 18th century. Told from an indigenous perspective, Chief of War is a passion project for creators Jason Momoa and Thomas P...
-# that explains why I’m getting push notifications lol
Yeah prime is gaslighting me to watch this now
Momoa did a promo video with the Jolly guys, eating Hawaiian food with them and a) it was a hilarious video, he's got great energy, but also b) you could tell this was such a passion project for him, like he's been wanting to make this show for many many years and is very proud of it
The expanse is amazing
He's one of the showrunners too
I really liked the first ep, it scratches my red rising brain worms
Expanse is a great show
this was very cute and very unhinged: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pfe_cH7hfUY
Jason Momoa loves Zippys, and today he's showing us some of his favourite dishes as well as some classic Zippy's dishes.
Check out Jason's new show "Chief of War" on Apple TV+ now, with new episodes available every week. @AppleTV

I need to read the books at some point
Glad Apple gave him a second bite at the, uh, apple
Omg omg omg you’re going to love it
the Mamoa/Bautista vs Rock/Cena dichotomy is really interesting
Mamoa and Bautista but have done schlock and blockbusters but the both seem genuinly interested in making stuff that matters to them, unlike the Rock and Cena
I don't have Apple TV right now yet either, but it does seem kinda Shogun-esque and that interests me, so I'd probably come back to it
Momoa and Bautista both also have at least a like baseline of acting ability
Shogun my beloved
Apple looking for their own Shogun and choosing Hawai'i feels like a great vibe
Television is great
Neither the Rock nor John Cena can act
I think that Johnson and Cena can also act, but just seem uninterested in doing so
Pain & Gain is an example of Johnson actually acting
and Cena is a very good comedic actor when he puts his mind to it
Pain & Gain is an example of Johnson trying to act
I think they’re like Kevin hart or Chris Pratt rn where they get cast to be the rock or John cena
They have their schtick
Jason Momoa in his cute hair scrunchie making this face and going "good job, you silly little englishmen" is one of those perfect moments, you know?
I haven't seen John Cena in anything where he's funny and the joke is not also to some extent "look at John Cena do this thing"
i think Cena has absolutely proven he's not in the same category as Johnson, with Peacemaker
The only thing I’ve really seen him in lately is when he was a mermaid
Peacemaker is a role that is very well suited for him, so I wouldn't say it proves he has range, but he absolutely plays it really well in a way I've never really seen from Johnson
Clearly y’all have never seen the greatness that is the scorpion king
Also jonh Cena did a great job as Fred's Dad so that gives him bonus points
I feel like I only have ever seen the Rock play a big badass cool guy, while Cena actually showed he could do emotional nuances pretty well
Dwayne The Rock Johnson also tends to build up Tom Cruise levels of caveats in his contracts to prevent him from needing to act that he is not big enough or established in Hollywood enough to actually pull off
yeah I guess it's fair to put Cena in a different category than Johnson now
The Rock is acting anytime he’s in public
He’s always selling
-# it’s really annoying
It makes me wonder if people like that even have a baseline personality anymore, or if all that's left is the persona
Netflix was truly prescient to put the Rock, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot in the same movie
I mean that's absolutely true but also a different skill than like acting acting
I know I just wanted to talk about how he kinda idk got subsumed by the persona in public
He can work a crowd and he is a shill but that's not really the same as taking up an actual character
if you are talking about what JM28 said about the Rock, that wasn't an endorsement of his acting ability
He strikes me as the kind of man who is tantrum-prone in private
You mean he is prone to rage
I think the biggest difference between the two is mass
Maybe due to idk some sort of drug he takes to maintain his body
me seeing the most steroided man in Hollywood
"yeah something tells me he's prone to rages"
He must smell so bad
I mean you're not wrong but it isn't part of The Persona
(I do not know why he continues to insist that he comes by that mass naturally)
Because he’s a “role model” to children
I'm fond of John Cena in a way Dwayne can't touch
Which children lmao
every time I see John Cena I'm like "he seems nice :)"
Anyway yes I have already convinced my parents to watch Chief of War
Extremely easy sell for them
there you go, the other jason momoa apple tv show gets a win
This is excellent
It's really very hilarious
i ended up watching it again
instantly has cemented momoa as a fave celebrity for me, actually
he just has great vibes, it turns out
jason momoa is likeable in a way that makes me feel bad about how unwatchable aquaman 2 was
My mother really likes him... maybe I can convince her to get apple tv back 👀👀👀
i believe in u
bonne chance
Places like this are fairly common in SLC fortunately
If he or Idris Elba is in anything, she will find a way to see it 😭
so, cyberpunk 2077 let's play on YouTube next?
Jason Mamoa : Dune :: Dave Bautista : Bladerunner
Jason Mamoa : Aquaman :: Dave Bautista : GotG
Jason Mamoa : ???? :: Dave Bautista : Knives Out 2
Jason Mamoa : See :: Dave Bautista : ????
Not quite as local but SLC has a nontrivial Polynesian population so we get some of the good food
Do I have news for you about an Apple TV show featuring idris Elba
👀👀👀
The way Cosmic would react to Keanu
Although I think it’s a few years old so she might’ve seen it
This surprises me not at all, knowing what I do about the efficiacy of LDS missions in the PICs
There's a reason BYU has a Hawai'i campus
Apparently they filmed season 2 of it last year but uh there’s def a show from him on there
I feel like my reaction ended up surprising me with how big it was, can she beat me
https://youtu.be/oGqnobMZk04?si=JjxpZUYgci4NCdAb
I think this video goes into good detail about both of them and their trajectory

What the guy who gets you to simp in CP2077 says about you:
For me it was ||Takemura ||
because ohhhhhh
Can you imagine a like 130lb Englishman having to look Jason Momoa in the eye and eat a spam musubi
Oh crap well now I want to watch it
look Jason Momoa in the eye and *lady and the tramp a spam musubi
lets be clear

Figgy pudding spam????
That's still underselling it!
She's been a schoolteacher in Hawaii for about ten years is what it means
okay this is an acid trip of a Jolly video that feels like it fell out of an alternate dimension and also jason momoa is hilarious
Jason Momoa absolutely took this show over yeah
-# Well that's boring
He was super hyped to be in Hawaii and brought a ton of energy
now you see why i was sad when you said "the jason momoa apple tv show was not good"!
bc i was like "noooo i wanted it to be good
, he was so nice and happy about it in that video..."
Oh yeah. See was garbage though
And even then it got like three seasons so suck it Netflix
aw I missed expanse talk
You didnt though! I liked the first episode a lot!
Expanse 1.1 ||That ending... man, my heart did a THING||
Also jeez Louise how many of you watched this already?? 😂
A lot
It is enough that when it comes up it commonly is associated with enthreadening conversation
apparently the streaming deal expired and no one else has snapped it up yet
so
im boned
or i buy it
Oof
its on BBC iPlayer but that only works in the UK
BBC iplayer is so funny, because of course they also have a streaming service 😂
