Just installed void linux over network connected to a hotspot from my main rig. after install (basic), I cannot get the wireless to connect on the bare cli environment and am not aquainted with dhcpcd. any idea how to connect via dhcpd? if not, the only solution I rule out is ethernet due to a hardware failure on the void machine.

you probably need to configure your wifi network normally

you can also just install networkmanager which is probably a little bit easier for most people, but you will need to use usb tethering
