I'm not sure how you're getting that error, but if you can switch to a tty you can install it from there before proceeding

Why are you installing it from the run file

Yeah. Most distros have some automated proper means to cleanly install Nvidia drivers. The download from the website is the /last resort/ that should pretty much never be done. This includes most "drivers". This ain't Windows where drivers are a common norm you have to download and maintain. These drivers are usually already built in to Linux (the kernel), or provided by the distribution by some method.
