#More Items for Toolbelt

Objective: Eliminate the need to run back to and from a bank because you forgot something trivial

Guiding Principles:

  • Bank running is NOT gameplay and should be minimized to reasonable extents
  • Should be non-consumable items
  • Some items maybe be removed and readded to toolbelt if applicable (similar to hatchet and mattock)
  • Acceptable to have requirements to add to toolbelt (similar to how slayer reward shop allows attaching Bonecrusher and other items)

Candidate items:

  • Clan Vexillum (for placing anywhere and teleport to GE). Removable for wielding.
  • Ore Box
  • Wood Box
  • Plank Box
  • Gem Bag
  • Herb Bag
  • Seed Bag
  • Archaeology Book
  • Captain's Log
  • Ring of Kinship (automatically removed and equipped on entering dungeon, automaticallyu readded to belt on leaving dungeon)
  • etc

Benefits:

  • Eliminates bank running for trivial items (objective)
  • Frees up backpack for items more useful to adventurers of all kinds (FTP/PTP, PVE/PVP, etc). This makes the game play experience richer and longer (before returning to bank), especially if players start including a wider variety of items in their backpack (eg potions and pouches) rather than spamming a few (eg food)
  • Players have better awareness of key items to acquire AND how to acquire them by examining empty slots and tooltips of toolbelt (existing behavior) without looking at the wiki/being guided by others

Other Notes:

  • Does NOT make players overpowered since ALL players benefit equally

Bank Running is not gameplay. Feedback on my proposal welcome and appreciated 🙂

Is there a reason why preset loadouts isn't sufficient?

I feel like the storage containers (herb bag, ore box, etc etc) being right there in your inventory makes them WAY easier to use than having to click into the toolbelt to access.

One item I would like to see added though is the teasing stick for hunter.

@quartz girder Two reasons:

  • That still involves bank running (to swap presets); my proposal eliminates the need to swap out presets for core non-consumables; the presets can be better used for other things.
  • Having these items in toolbelt allows for longer sessions of gameplay before returning to bank. This is similar to the Slayer Toolbelt - you can engage several different kinds of targets without swapping slayer items as long as they are on your belt. (As stated in original post, "earning" the ability to add some/all of these items is worth considering - this is already implemented for several items in toolbelt such as Bonecrusher)

Note that none of my proposed tools give an advantage in combat (other than freeing inventory space for all players)

@candid tulip You are correct that, in terms of UI/UX interaction, it is currently easier to access via inventory; however, UI/UX changes can be made for these items to be readily accessible. One possible approach would be to have a popout similar to what is used for "favorite currencies". This quick on-off popup remains in the confines of the backpack window instead of opening the modal toolbelt window
