#Lucky Equipment (End of Life)

They've committed to giving cosmetic version
Converting items to actual items is a disaster that should not be remotely considered, as you would flood the economy with years worth of these items, crashing the prices
So we can't convert it to normal items, and if we cash out for the ge price, we introduce a shitload of gold which increase inflation
We should not look at any option that harms the game further, and there are enough lucky items in the game that any cash out option would do that
We cannot consider any conversion to regular item
Like, take Elysian spirit shield, it has a daily volume of 31 on the ge on the 13th
What do you think happens to that when thousands of lucky elysian spirit shields get cashed out
Its going to crash into the ground as you introduce months if not years worth of item supply for these items
And that daily volume of 31 was high. Some days its as low as 9, or 4.
And I dont think a possible gold sink, is worth crashing these items into the floor
Conversion into a direct Wardrobe override, like they had done with Golden equipment (pic.) is outright the best and probably only option without causing some major market disruption.
People have multiple account types. I have a main account too thats higher level than my HCIM and that I've played far longer on.
I literally just put the role because its a tag available
Is there even a main tag
... those aren't considered same category as ironman roles in this discord. But yes I have pretty good idea of how the market work
But based on word of mouth, it's not in the thousands, at best it's just past hundred.
If you think there are barely a hundred of lucky items in the game I think you'll be sorely dissapointed
They've been obtainable from enough sources that its very unlikely only a hundred people got them
I do like reading them, but you like making several accusations
I don't think there should be, even the replacement of 250k, for lucky items
There should be no cash out option , or convertion
Google AI is completely irrelevant and routinely makes mistakes about this game
Its as good as asking the wall
They've given at, at not particularily bad rate, from several sources
Like santa's christmas presents two christmas events in a row
Or good odds from umbral chests, of which players can have gotten a lot of over the years
Since you asked where I got volume, I took the wiki graph which is supposed to be synced to Jagex' numbers, if its off then something has gone wrong there
We should not consider any option that can convert any lucky item into its normal gameplay version
In that scenario we should expect something like what happened with lost wills
Volume of item increase, prices crash
The effect they have on suddenly introducing a whole slew of items is not worth whatever possible gold sink they provide
The game has many more levers it can pull for getting a gold sink, than it has for item sinks
I do fully understand your suggestion. I think you vastly underestimate how many lucky items are in the game.
But lets take the amount you said, it works better for my purpose
"Over the previous 2 months, on average 18 are bought/sold daily. "
What do you think happens if you introduce say, 500 or 1000 or 1800 of said item into the economy when said item that has low amount of sinks leaving the game
Are we introducing a conversion option in hope that nobody takes it?
Or do we just think its a good thing that we let the legacy of these MTX items flood the game with potentially months worth of supply of these items, hurting the drop tables of everything that had lucky items connected to it
Gold sinks are inherently less valuable than item sinks, if Jagex needs a gold sink they can always change the ge tax even in a minor way. Almost all lucky items is things that need be sunk more.
Given that barely anyone use said items for stats (in part because they cannot be augmented), and that Jagex has said they're up for cosmetic since whats important is removing the item version
I don't really see the need to give any compensation in a way thats gameplay impactful for these
You will not increase the demand of these items by the same number, because just because you own a lucky items doesn't mean that you actually have any need for ahrim's staff or bandos boots.
As in, this statement I don't think is correct at all:
Not really. Right now if a player has a "lucky" item, they are less likely to get the regular version because "they already have it". This means the "demand" side of supply and demand went down when they got the item. Without this and if the items are simply removed, Jagex will be increasing the "demand" by the same number. As now potentially millions of players will "want their item back". The supply won't change, but as the demand grows the cost will go up. That's economics 101.
Most items that have a lucky variant only has a use for a certain range. A lot of people have lucky items for things they do not need at all.
Allowing lucky items to be converted to actual items will absolutely increase supply by more than demand, as you're creating a supply out of thin air.
I also find is strange that you go for "potentially millions of players will want their item back", but then turn around and say things like lucky elysian spirit shield is not in the thousands but at best past hundred
The demand for these items is low as is, because most only got a narrow niche where they're useful, then you sell them and move to stronger
Any supply we introduce for said items should be from its actual item sources
they didnt convert golden armor, this is a rough and misused rumor at best.
they had an mtx event to release cosmetic golden armor
golden armor gained from the raffle events still exist and maintain stats
completely mtx free- yes I can prove it
I referenced lost wills because they gave impious ashes, drastically increasing supply
I don't imply that all lucky items is the same as all lucky elysian spirit shields, because we only need a few hundreds of any item to throw them into disarray.
ANY addition of items via lucky items is bad, and we shouldn't offer it as a pathway
I don't think people will sell said items knowing the price will tank
I think they'll see a conversion option, try to sell it because price seem high and it seems more attractive if you're material, but prices wont have adjust for new supply and most will feel rugpulled as they sell for less than they paid
Thing is, even if they eat the loss, thats still another item in the economy that shouldn't be there
Then the question come why even get rid of lucky items in the first place
thats what a lucky item is already
If we're just reinventing lucky item
why make a new version of a lucky item
they do already
you have to pay diango to get it back
The goal of the removal is because Jagex don't want the statted version to exist from the MTX
^
I'll see if I can find the comment but thats what Hooli said
cosmetic is the only direction its going
🤣
There will be some, even if a small amount, that will want said items back. Now they will have to engage with the intended source and supply instead of bypassing it. Thats good.
Thats a good thing they don't get the actual item
as of right now they are committed to doing that
this has been confirmed and nothing said otherwise
I like that too
how sure are you of that
It was the quote prior I posted that you responded to
"Lucky Items will be removed from gameplay at the end of the grace period. We have now committed to releasing cosmetic variants when this happens - we'll have more information next year."
They say they have committed to releasing cosmetic variants
while removing the gameplay version
"we have now committed to releasing cosmetic variants when this happens"
idk if there is a translation error but that means its happening
they dont have to promise further
Committing to something is a promise
that IS a promise
so now that we can move on from that part...
yes it is
you dont take it as such
for corp speak it is
Of course they could end up changing their mind. thats true for a guarantee and a promise.
A commitment is an obligation, or as much as a promise or a guarantee is
we cant guarantee they will remove TH by this same notion
thats essentially how you are going about this
its pedantic
yes. this is in accordance to what we are saying
boss...
the definition literally says its a promise
how are you missing this
they are committed (to promise to give... or plan of action)
like on the pedantic level, you are now going against the very definition of the word
Its a step beyond a maybe
If I tell someone I'm committed to doing something, I'm doing that thing
Unless something I don't expect require a change of plans
But thats true for promises and so on
a promise is that too
so now to get you on that
same with th
its only a promise so lets make a post about them maybe not removing th
do you see where im going with this?
I can promise to be somewhere at 18:00.
If I get into a car accident I'll break the promise, much like I'd break the commitment.
saying they are committed is synonymous to "I will"
its a specific way of phrasing BUT this is how corp works
they care not for semantics
that you are caught up in
why did they call it a vote/poll?
to use the same offense you are talking about
no its not
its the same scope of whats actually being talked about
your issue is the choice of words
they could have said something more consistent to what youd take as a literal yes
BUT
they didnt and gave the equivalent of "we will"
Since Google ai was said to be a trusted source earlier
being committed is better than a promise yes
But in reverse to what you said, so they've gone beyond just a promise
they were used either interchangeably OR commit was used in a "we will do it"
there is no third option
"lucky items will be removed from the gameplay at the end of the grace period. we have now committed to releasing cosmetic variants when this happens."
- end of grace period lucky items will be removed
- cosmetic items will be replacing the removed physical items when the removal happens
This should ultimately end this section of the discussion about the semantics of "is jagex currently planning to give cosmetic lucky stuff?"
The answer is yes and there isn't anything to say its not.
most of us understand this is what jagex is going to do in the same scope as th removal.
You are the only one contesting the actual source here.
its LITERALLY in the picture
please read
it says a couple of things
lucky items are being removed
it will be at the end of the grace period
they are committed to releasing cosmetic variants when this happens
WHEN THIS HAPPENS
this is a "who do you think" scenario
you want more information
heres a cool thing though
"WE WILL HAVE MORE INFORMATION NEXT YEAR."
objectively yes. It prevents a case of misinformation and misguided suggestions
you are on the idea of its not happening
we had to dispell this
well we didnt have to
but it really helps the topics when the right information is given
I literally used the quote by jagex
you are the one saying it might not without facts
do the reverse and the conversation mends itself
it literally does
look... if you cant take the explanation of the literal quote by jagex. a literal quote that has been explained and broken down. you arent going to be able to have a conversation why you may be misunderstanding whats said
this is the literal form of explanation of what it means
im showing a picture of it being explained to you
you cannot explain it differently sentence by sentence and have it make sense
what part is false? the removal of items? no its happening.
it will be at hte end of hte grace period? no thats said and happening
they are committed to releasing cosmetic variants. they said this and you cant prove it wrong.
when this happens. yep, this references the grace period removal.
more info will be given next year. you cannot prove this wrong either and its a promise to be seen later
ok if you are just here to be jerk this conversation is done.
ive articulated what i did and why
im using the literal source material by jagex and explaining it word by word, line by line
fam... what does this even mean?
yes it is
what part. again instead of chickening out. explain it
what part is wrong
ive challenged you and you say nope
what part is false? the removal of items? no its happening.
it will be at the end of the grace period? no, that's said and happening
they are committed to releasing cosmetic variants. they said this and you cant prove it wrong.
when this happens. no, this references the grace period removal.
more info will be given next year. you cannot dispute this either and its a promise to be seen later
again dispute the facts ive listed
ive used the literal jagex post as my source
got it, you are a troll
the whole world sees it now
