I agree...
And I think the even bigger problem, lore-wise, is that there's a... not so subtle sensation that the lore experts at Jagex have all moved on to other departments/other employers, and left an undocumented vacuum where previously intention and direction existed.
The Lore Experts have been giving far too many 'uuuh, good question! we don't know.' style answers lately, and the game design seems to be following that trend.
Why is the new landmass to the East; have we forgotten about the Eastern Lands? Guthix's death, Tuska's arrival, both God Wars, The Elder Gods mess... all of this, and now suddenly there's this happy little tree-hugging village in the middle of nowhere, that'd be perfect in every way, if it weren't for a bothersome portal to Vampyrium that conveniently exists on other side of their slice of untouchable paradise. And after Inana has left our entire continent to fend for ourselves against all the threats facing the whole of Gielinor for thousands of years, somehow hiding her continent from every God, Mahjaret, Dragonkin, boat, and winged beastie for Millenia... She wants us to come save her flock from a bunch of feral vampyres, while retconning in more first-age Gods?
Idk. The Moia storyline feels unfinished and forgotten and more current/relevant than this new area. The Gnome storyline has been unfinished for 14 years. Darkmeyer's questline may be 'done', but most of Morytania is basically dead content and could be overhauled or refreshed. We got Necromancy and Um, without really needing a new city for the skill, beautiful though it is, it's basically unused.
I'm honestly not looking forward to another Anachronia/Um/Arc/Ashvale/Goshima/Menaphos, where the content is only relevant for the 2 year span of its release.
And that 2 year span infers it'll be 2028 before we see a return to other lore... if ever.
I suspect all old plotlines are dead, and that newlands exist to mitigate new plotholes.
