#Default UI Should Be Fixed for New Players with a "Custom UI" option in settings.

TL;DR - I like the current UI system but I wish new players/new accounts started in a "Fixed UI Mode" that was a standard fixed ui with cycling menus similar to OSRS/Legacy mode but with a modern RS3 feel.

Longform - The current UI system is extremely customizable and I love it for that, however for new players opening and closing windows that they don't understand can be really overwhelming. Not to mention the docking system, while great when you understand it, is not intuitive.

I think if we took the Legacy UI built into RS3, and expanded it to be more useful it could serve as a good starting point. I've attached a photo as an example but this is a hack job at best.
I think having a centralized hot bar, plus the cyclable menu ribbon of the Legacy UI and the simple chatbox as a Default option for new players will really help ease OSRS players into RS3, as well as prevent brand new players from being completely overwhelmed with all of the menus.

Starting the game should put you in legacy settings, its so much easier to learn and low level combat doesn’t really need sweaty pvm to start. After finishing tutorial you should be able to unlock custom UI

Combat/ability tutorial needs an update

#

My anecdote is that I was able to pick up this game and play decently when I was 8yo

It was much simpler and I got to learn the new stuff as it was released. But there is SOOOO much now its a different experience

The UI is only 10% of the problem tbh. There has been a lot of people commenting that you should be able to transfer or send your UI just like you can with the action bars to people on your friends list, more saved presets because 4 isn't enough as you want different ones for pvm, minigames, clue scrolls, half and full screen is multi playing on same screen.

The lumbridge combat academy used to have a beginner tutorial covering over the action bars, finding all the 18~ tabs filled with abilities, spells, movement, teleports for each combat style and dragging to the action bar, locking and unlocking action bar so the icons are locked in it place task which did award xp lamps because eoc is heavily complicated giving you no idea what to do with these "5 blank action bars" when making a new account.

I would like some tutorial bosses/beginner slayer mobs to readdress effects of abilities/common mechs. Like how some creatures cant be attacked unless stunned (sanctum for example) it would be good if like you need to stun gargoyles in slayer to kill them. Instead of rockhammer. The slayer mech would help players use stun abilities more naturally

I miss the old lumby trainin centre

Low level slayer monsters are bad if you look at rock slugs, mutated zygomite, desert lizards, needing to wear slayer gloves, spiked gauntlets, light source (lanterns and not candles / torches) because each and every hit you have to right click on use whatever item to actually ko them.

On mobile so I'm a bit slow here but yeah lots of great insight so far.

I believe back in 2018 (or 2019) f2p was supposed to get 3 new f2p only bosses (meaning p2p had to hop to f2p world to access boss so we couldn't 1 hit them and use bis f2p gear which is t60) to teach all about stunning mechanics, tanking big hits with barricade, using reflect to half damage, resonance to heal you, ect which was later shelved because "everyone already knows about abilities and what they do now" which was not true and implied you were p2p as monsters didn't get 2-3 hit using a level 1 staff of air killing chickens - moss giants back then. Yup a level 1 wep would ko so many monsters you didn't have to do anything except clicking the next monster over and over making it very click intensive

This idea should be readdressed.

Encouraging New players to keep playing by helping them understand how to actually play is vital to game health
