Overgrown idols seems to be an abandoned distraction with nice hidden bonus to it. So my proposal is to change it to be a d&d akin to fishing flingers, to substitute the randomness of evil trees.

Get daily tickets to participate and random chance of getting one while woodcutting.
Happens every ~20 minutes.
You don't need to bring a machete or hatchet, it's open for all
Around the world there will choppers npc calling the timer to teleport to the minigame instance.

Mechanics are simple: chop the vines and wild vines to reach the hidden idol, having a predetermined selection of machetes that is given through a mini game interface

Machetes are based on the semiprecious and precious gems, from opal up to dragonstone, with each type of vine having a correct type of machete to chop. Like vile vines needs rubi machete for this match, withered vine needs, *for this match *, opal and so on.

There would be up to 5 types of vines to be chopped reaching the idol, and 3 types of machete would not be used for a match.

Random events can happen during the chop: evil roots and/or mosquitos swarms, when having at least one more person to aid (like big fish event from FF).

Rewards would include 20min of bottled boost, an alternative way to buy lumberjack outfit and what else jmods can come up with. Xp reward scales to the discovery and use of machetes during the game, this means if someone decides to only chop one type of vine would receive less points of rewards than those that help multiple stages and vines.

I think they're still meta for being as afk as possible before ctrees/bamboo right? so I'd not like to see them removed but your proposal for the DND sounds good (other than the daily limitation which is the worst part of fish flingers imo)
