#Ports on MQC?

Ports has a lot of story regarding it, and mqc is for anything lore/story related, no reason to remove it

#

Considering getting mqc completes most achievements in the “lore” category I’m gonna have to disagree with you on that one. Ports has so much story pertaining to the arc and eastern islands so it makes sense its on there and I doubt it’d get removed tbh

Also 120 arch might not be strictly needed but you do need to complete all of the mysteries involved with each digsite, which again is a decent amount of lore related to the activity

#

I mean quest reqs doesn’t really matter, arch is a skill that is quite literally lore focused so it’s going to be on the lore cape, just like ports is when it has literal storylines with the adventurers you can get

#

If thats how you want to define it then you can but I’m confident most people see it as a lore cape, using different terms to skirt around that isn’t going to do anything

Theres other reqs on the cape that also have no activities linked to quests, but since they have a lot of lore (things like ancient cavern/ED pages) they are on the cape
Also in the wikis words, “represents a player’s achievements in quests and lore-related content”

#

Again, being pedantic over the name isn’t going to help you on the situation
The arc has miniquests, and ports is directly linked to the arc. How much more related do you want it to be so that the storyline in ports is good enough to be considered lore for you

#

If you’re not open to having your mind changed you might have a rough time having an unpopular opinion but good luck regardless

#

Its on MQC because its given for mastering lore. Like completing the various storylines in ports, which is a perfect fit.

You definitely should not have a MQC without ending Quin, or saving Hyu-Ji.

#

And for your example about 120 arch and 120 slayer has a lot of lore, yet we dont require it

#

... we absolutely do?

#

you have to uncover the sunken pyramid lore by collecting slayer souls

#

you have to do all arch mysteries and research, plus a few other major things like get armadyl to visit the stormguard citadel

#

Dungeoneering also has a lot of lore, which is why you have to collect all the journals for MQC

#

MQC is ABSOLUTELY the complete all lore cape. That is what it was conceived as, that is what the playerbase worked together with the devs for, that is what it has been maintained as all these years.

#

It has never been anything else.

#

Just see the broadcast message once you unlock MQC the first time

#

News: For becoming a master of quests and lore Player has been awarded the Master Quest Cape!

#

master of quests AND lore

#

The MQC without the lore part has a much less clear identity, and if anything, its non-lore post-quest activites that has always been the controversial part

#

The quest cape is all quests. The MQC is all the story and quest-related stuff you can possibly dig up.

#

Also, the claim that ports in no way is tied to quests is just blatantly false.

#

Meet the Assassin requirement

#

Discover Cyclosis requirement

#

The arc npc's also change dialogue based on ports progress

#

And Once Upon a Time In Gielinor, while only listing "Impressing the Locals" as suggested, is blatantly set in a future following the completion of "Guardians of the World" port storyline

#

You even have a part of that quest set on the island only found by doing that storyline

#

The only explanation I have there is that I assume putting the longest port storyline to complete as "suggested" felt like too much from jagex

misty lagoon
#

You functionally cannot start Spiritual Enlightenment and Eye for an Eye without doing it. And you ignore the "Once Upon a time" directly follows up on one of the trio storylines

The argument "if it was meant to be that, it would be the lore cape". I can straight up state that the original mod that made it, and the community that worked with them to make the cape as complete as possible, had EVERY intention for it to be the lore cape.

#

And thats the legacy that has continued to this day.

#

The ports storyline in fact are pretty major in what they deal with

#

One has you directly stopping the source of monster attacks that has affected a huge chunk of the world, and relieving its wielder of an elder artefact

#

another you stop the head diviner from bandos' world event from making a god killing weapon

#

We're talking fully voice acted story chunks

#

MQC intentionally tried to include all avenues of storytelling, not just whatever is in the quest list

#

Hell, at the time it came out, neither miniquests or sagas or the like was in the quest list

#

And what was a miniquest or not was purely arbitrary

#

The line of what is a miniquest or not is very blurred

#

At the time ports was created, miniquests was a gimmick word with no ingame indicator

#

People just called anyt unmarked quest style stuff for miniquest

#

There is nothing wrong with calling ports stuff for miniquests if thats the concern

#

They'd fit the bill and have more story impact than most of them

#

There is no reason to "other" the ports storyline, or hell the bulk of the MQC, which by your definition should no longer be on the cape

#

Regardless, we know at least one port storyline which does have a bearing on quests

#

The trio storyline of tengu + memory + worldbearer

#

Which is directly used as the basis of the "future scenario" in Once Upon a Time

#

I mean, the once upon a time is following an entire storyline

#
RuneScape Wiki

Kami-shima is an island in The Shield and the largest island of the Wushanko Isles. It is unlocked on the player-owned ports map after the final trio voyage between the Tengu, the Exile, and the Memory and can be briefly visited during Once Upon a Time in Gielinor: Finale quest.

#

It is not subtle about it

light basalt
#

this sure is a lot of words for "i dont wanna do ports"

misty lagoon
#

You figure because Kami-Shima gets discovered in that mission, and they become guardians of it

#

And then in Once Upon a Time the same characters return, protecting the island, which they immediately assume you know where is

#

Its like questioning if Missing Presumed Death is alluding to events of World Wakes

#

You've proven nothing and seem to be annoyed that your definition of the cape is not shared by the community or the devs

#

And mostly seem like you just really don't want to do the content

#

You can continue to think of the lore of ports as lesser and not fitting, and it will remain on the cape regardless

#

The reason its not a requirement is because they didn't want to hard lock a quest behind 6 million distance in port + multiple rng missions

#

Its still following it story wise

#

By the same logic, Sliske's Endgame is not important to elder god wars series because its not a hard requirement

#

Yes, but do you think endgame is important to elder god wars narrative?

#

If yes, then being a hard requirement is irrelevant to something being important

#

If no, I think you spacebarred elder god wars narrative

#

But other than that, genuinely enjoy your birthday

light basalt
#

just because a thing isnt on the main quest list doesnt mean its not lore. if it has a story element to it in game, it belongs on mqc

#

on the main quest list, from which you gain actual quest points, is a story in which you help a yeti child discover the meaning of christmas. let's not get too hung up on what is and isnt deserving of recognition in the "completed all lore-related content" cape. the bar is very low

misty lagoon
#

There is not a ton of lore not included on trim

#

If you think there is, genuinely make a list and it should probably be added

light basalt
#

sir, you are literally, verbatim, describing the difference between the quest cape and master quest cape

misty lagoon
#

MQC and Trim shared a lot of reqs

#

Of which, with latest change that made MQC a req for trim

#

all of which was deleted from trim as MQC would now cover it

#

All the lore reqs that trim has are already on trim

#

Whats missing

#

If we were to include all lore to the mqc, then all of the trimmed comp stuff should be on mqc

#

Right now, anything trim has that isn't on MQC, isn't something that is considered lore

#

They shouldn't be the same

#

Trim is everything

#

MQC is everything lore

#

Which it has tried to its best ability to be

#

the community got involved

#

Mastering quests is already covered by the quest cape

#

We don't need a quest cape 2

light basalt
#

LITERALLY the base quest cape

misty lagoon
#

that, plus finishing all story activities

#

That was the goal the dev stated, that was the goal the community agreed upon, that was what we listed

light basalt
#

youre basically advocating for nuking 50% of MQC

misty lagoon
#

That is what we've tried to fill the gap for oversight

#

Essentially, that means very minor things with barely any narrative impact would be MQC

#

but massive world impacting stuff would not be MQC

#

even though the latter is far more similar in form to quests themselves

#

I mean you are very much underestimating how much of MQC you'd nuke

#

We're talking about important story moments that might as well be miniquests

light basalt
#

is the hang up the name? if it was called the master lore cape would this be a problem? youre taking the word "quest" far too literally for the purposes of this cape of accomplishment

misty lagoon
#

I mean, we can compromise. We'll just give every single ports story mission a quest list entry.

#

The game literally goes "for mastering quests and lore" in the broadcast for MQC

#

People wanted an ultimate lore cape. The decision was to use the nameing convention and looks of the already existing master capes you got at 120

#

You get a master thieving cape at 120

#

You get a master quest cape at completing all lore

#

These capes are called master

#

Thats it. Thats why its called MQC

#

The goal was always to encompass all lore

#

That undermines non-quest story content as lesser

#

We understand, we just disagree

#

I'd be fucking pissed if I lost MQC in its current state to a shadow of its former self

#

Its the most perfect cape

#

I've quoted your own words back at you

light basalt
#

youre saying you want lore on the cape not designated for lore and to keep anything lore-related that isnt directly associated with a quest in the main quest list off mqc

#

this, imo, is nuking it

misty lagoon
#

You've said that MQC and trim would be the same, which they wouldn't, as trim encompass stuff that do not fit under the guidelines of MQC

#

This isn't true, they would have very easily found differences

#

like artisans workshop being bought up

#

Yes, and they're not the same

#

If all lore was on mqc, and all lore was on trimmed

#

They wouldn't be the same, because trim has more stuff on it than just lore

#

while MQC doesnt

#

They would not be the same

#

its like saying quest cape and mqc would be the same, because both have quets on it

#

or max cape and comp would be the same, because they both have max cape on it

light basalt
#

this is spiraling towards having to pick through each cape with a fine toothed comb to nitpick what is and isnt lore and i feel like this is going nowhere so ive frankly lost interest in the conversation 🤷 toodles

misty lagoon
#

If MQC and Trim both have all lore on it, that encompasses all of MQC, and not all of Trim

#

making MQC a subset of Trim

#

but not the same

#

what

#

Everything on MQC should be on MQC because they follow the guidelines set down for it

#

Essentially, the only issue here is that ports storylines hasn't gotten an arbitrary label of miniquest yet

#

Well now its gonna look like I ranted to myself with everything deleted
