i really dont think this is useful in any manner and would only make this game more of a battlefield knockoff
Unfortunately, it already is(a battlefield knockoff
). Look at the recent test content, it's moving closer to Battlefield. In that case, why not generously borrow from it? Moreover, do you think this game can escape the shadow of Battlefield?
I agree, but only partially. This or a similar mechanic could be useful for quickly swapping optics. In the game, engagement distances change quite often, and during fast-paced gameplay or assaults, using optics with magnification higher than 1x is simply impractical. This severely limits your options — you’re forced to choose between one or the other: either controlled mid-range firefights or aggressive close-quarters combat.
Yes, you can add a red dot reticle to magnified optics in the game, but no — I just want to replace my ACOG with a proper red dot sight (or at least have the option to switch an optic’s magnification).
Given the fact that a lot of people dislike the direction it is going (way too much into BF territory, with said changed being done very poorly even in the context of BF), making more BF is probably not a good idea, not to mention that out of every gameplay mechanic and out of every BF game, the attachment swap from BF2042 is the thing that should be added?
One thing that playtest did well is made mid range optics far more viable to use, so thats a start
Variable optics are also a good idea
More in favor of variables tbh
Allow me to be a Dushnila for a moment.
It’s honestly silly to claim that this mechanic is somehow BF2042’s invention. It was created long before BF2042 by developers who had nothing to do with the Battlefield series at all — I’m talking about Crysis (2007).
Again, I’m not arguing for adding the full attachment-swapping system. I’m only in favor of quick optic swapping — just the ability to switch between scopes or red dots on the fly.
It’s just frustrating that you’d dismiss such a convenient feature (assuming it’s well-implemented) solely because it appeared in BF2042, even though BF2042 wasn’t the original creator of the idea in the first place.
Just to be clear — no negativity here, it’s just a discussion. I’m still all for a simple optic magnification toggle or full variable optics.
I never claimed that BF2042 invented the thing. PUBG Mobile literally had this feature before BF2042, and like you said, Crisis also had it before both. Me saying that it's from BF2042 doesn't actually mean it's THE first game to have it. I'm specifically talking in the context of BF.
The reason why I am dissmissing the feature is because it just doesn't really fit BBR, top and canted sights already exist and I already stated that I would much rather have variable scopes than the quickswap. If you are gonna pick a scope and you don't like it, tough luck, either use the alternate sights (or variables whenever those get added) or change the optic in the loadout.
This isn't even mentioning that BF2042 is not a less than stellar example to use in the context of BF and BF-likes, because it's the least BF game out of every BF game. And that is saying something because Hardline exists.
Heh-heh, alright! Truth is, all this doesn’t really matter. I just wanna play the new playtest, lol.
Oh, and sorry if it came across like I was accusing you of claiming BF2042 invented the mechanic.
That’s not what I meant at all!
It’s just that whenever this feature gets brought up, BF2042 always pops up in the conversation — and honestly, it’s starting to get a little tiresome.
battlebit had this exact thing back in 2017 when it was full arcade
ripped from unturned
it will just be used for more ammo
Interesting
Well BF2042 is one of the few multiplayer games that do allow attachment swaps on the fly, and coincidentally, a more recent example of such
I absolutely adore the bf2042 weapon attachment life swap feature but I just don't think it would be good for this game
it would be useful in the spawnzone, so you don't have to suicide to just change your weapon / attachment or even class (maybe)
BF4 supply drops do allow you to switch classes
Tho the weapons, gadgets and field upgrades already you selected for each class cannot be changed
Guess something along those lines in the safe zone would be fine

oki way ahead of you
love those pixel gun 3d sounds
Goofybit remastered
It really is?
It wasnt remastered back then
That I could get around
wow! very cool !
