#Tab pre-load on match start-up

You mean the scoreboard?
Yes
set to squad and it doesnt do that
Yeah but you shouldn't have to do that just to keep a UI element from lagging your game
It would still lag the game, it would just do it without your input.
Im not a programmer idk what the solution is but they should atleast try
It's 254 different clients all loading at once. That is always going to lag. They should just make the squad scoreboard default.
found coming in with his magic wand to somehow make the scoreboard not lag, when the option to make it not lag is already in the game.
Aint like i give a damn that it does
I dont mind my game lagging once for like a second to load in the scoreboard
Seems like a fair tradeoff rather than having no lag and using the one where it is sorted by squads
Im just saying that imo i dont think the sorted by squads scoreboard should be the default just to solve something thats kind of a nothing burger
So, make the squad default, remove lag, and leave the toggle to have all player scoreboards as an option. It's a simple flipping of the two options. People who care still have what they want, but by default, you don't have the very noticeable lag spike.
Yeah but tbh it be better if it sorted by squad isnt the default cause that one is kinda ass despite the lack of lag
Or.. and here me out
Optimize the game better so it doesn't cause stuttering to begin with

Which im pretty sure they're doing in the update anyways
Dawg it's just numbers
That should not lag
Their is clearly a lack of optimization
"just numbers" applies to basically everything. with that logic, nothing should lag ever. all that would matter would be how your client loaded textures
Either way the option of simply optimizing it better is there
Id rather go for that option than having the sort by squad be the default solely to solve that issue
to optomize, reduce number of clients that are being tracked at the same time. I wonder how to do so
Which would be a great argument if the infamous bug that causes servers to crap out after some time was fixed… Along with the game client lagging itself during longer play sessions
the game hasn’t been updated to address things like that, so here we are.
welcome to having servers. they all do that.
this is almost certainly caused by the client "blocking" on getting all player info from the server
when you block on a function call like that, it prevents new frames from being rendered, so it feels like the game randomly freezes for a sec (but it's still working! just waiting for a task to finish without letting other stuff happen in the background)
usually, the fix is to allow the game to grab players in the background, and only update the player list UI once it has all the info ready
source: i made it up (but I'm a software developer so that's ok lmao)
Peak oki spaghetti code
Yeah, cause servers don't do that. totally. sounds like you haven't dealt with any before.
there is a slight hiccup even with squads only
64v64 is fine though
computers have these magical things called processors
in the processors, nowdays there's multiple cores
those allow you to do things at the same time
for example you can make a network request in a separate thread and not block the game rendering thread
doesn’t even need to be multithreaded (though I hope it is)
tasks like network requests can easily be paused, cancelled, resumed, or queued
What I understood from bbr's community so far just looking at this post:
argue in topics you have no single competence
no will of adding loading aspect to loading screen
12 y/o majority
Most don’t disagree with the idea, but it’s not just the scoreboard causing all the stuttering issues
aka DevilDogg completely missing the point that this game has well documented bugs/known issues and trying to turn this into something it shouldn’t be, which is a bandage solution but that’s besides the point.
I rest my case, let the records show I did indeed mention the server bugs
Specifically, here
have the day you deserve im too employed for this
ah yes a bug. and not just the server being up. tells me how little you know lol.
“Server crapping out after 24h” was confirmed to be a bug relating to the game (same with decreased performanced the longer you leave the game on) and both are confirmed fixed in the soon™
but okay, let’s pretend it’s something else to push some narrative again
ah yes, if they can fix that basically every server owner ever is gonna want their code to fix the issue.
Tell oki to release update, that’s all this boils down to, as with every other suggestion here anyways.
Unless you’re implying that the update wouldn’t fix known issues?
I'm saying the server with long uptime is always going to start dying. it just depends on when.
And the update is supposed to address that so that it takes longer before an eventual server reset is needed, aka the game is being optimized to not crap out.
Now we’re on the same page, right?
So as I said earlier, I rest my case. If the issue is addressed in the update, the solution is simple, update game oki.
Same established bug known by community servers, bbr staff, etc. Somehow the update that has already been confirmed to fix it won’t fix the “issue” though? This is seriously what’s being implied here…?
(Referring to devil’s claims)
And im being told that isn’t an issue with the game being poorly optimized, so I guess we shouldn’t account for a known and established bug that hinders servers?
Anyways im done beating the dead horse, whatever more is said will just default back to “oki update your game” when alls said and done.
Scoreboard preloading should be standard, not the bandage fix of making everyone use squad scoreboard, game needs to be optimized, bugs need fixing, nothing will change until soon™
Im against squad scoreboard as default because it is far less practical to use and navigate
