#Regular development updates

This game desperately needs better communication. A short, regular (weekly or biweekly) newsletter sharing progress on bug fixes and new features would reassure players and potential buyers that the game is still being actively developed. This minimal time investment (around 30 minutes) would have a huge positive impact on the community.

#community-announcements message "Is it true that the BBR source code was accidentally deleted?

A: While the BBR source code being deleted is false, it is true that our branching was messed up. we unintentionally pushed a changeset to PlasticSCM (the version control tool that we have been using since 2022) with additional updates where they were unfinished. We would have to spend time removing the features we implemented back to the build, which would further delay the update."

why havent the devs sent any updates since Christmas?

Why wait to release all the changes at once?

Julgers (Game Developer) 4/11/2025 -
“Multiple reasons. A lot of components of the update depend on each other, so they all had to be re-done. For example, after the audio was re-done, the gunplay needed to be re-done because it didn't match the sound anymore, etc. Just those 2 things (audio and animations) and some other stuff set us back multiple months. At that point, the update was not "good enough" to release because the game also had major design flaws (think of TTK, movement abuse and lack of player awareness features in combat). We had to fix those issues before doing a "comeback", otherwise it would just bleed out immediately again. So why not release hotfixes in the middle of all of that? That question has been answered by SgtOkiDoki before:
‘I am aware there is VOIP - Deathscreen bug which both fixed. This is a mistake on my end, I should have released hotfix the moment they are fixed yet I decided to keep them on main update thinking it will be soon. Currently we are at position, releasing even a hotfix will notify all game owners (who have it installed) on their updates page indicating 5 months no update and finally there is, giving wrong impression. However, I am definitely aware it's negativity and how impact it is, we will never get into long updates while there major bugs to fix. On current position, releasing a hotfix will notify so many people (as in updates in steam) that we want to use that for our biggest update so we are stuck.’ ”

Doesnt really answer why they havent added anything to the dev updates channel?

Why don’t they tell us what is being worked on?

Julgers (Game Developer) 5/6/2025 -
“The communicational matter I do not have a good answer for, to be honest. I guess most of it comes from that a lot of info we would have, is insignificant for players, too technical, or subject to change, and that we prefer to show people what we have cooked, once it's fully done/ready (some portion of people only want to hear an ETA anyway, which we don't have yet). That delivers a far greater blow. We save our pings for when we really have something to show.

At this point, updating the community (beyond what we normally do) would cause a shockwave, so we better have something ready when we do so.”

Why didn't they hire more developers?
Two staff members ReaP and Julgers moved to a game development role at the start of 2025. The Meet the team page was updated without an associated announcement

Julgers (Game Developer) 2/20/2025 - “I was already a programmer on misc. tasks around the game. Then, opportunity presented itself to lend a helping hand in the engine, which I took. Currently, I'm mainly focussing on Game Design and User Interface.”

They did Shruge and, no there is still no eta.

Just worth adding this too

They should just record any sort of standups that they do. They way we could have both a really good sense of everything and how things are doing.

I’m aware. But hell if they are doing any development work on it at all, they should probably just record whenever they get together to divy up tasks, record and put it out. Something at this point is better than nothing

While not on like youtube steam or whatever, it is better than nothing

#

Yeah says unofficial and whatever but all of the statements, vids and pics and whatnot are from staff or the CM and 99% of them are sourced as well

#

Its only unofficial cause it is written by the 2 community helpers

At this point they just need to release the update so everyone can be like "ok omg update bad", or announce that oki went to prison and just got out lol
