Besides, squad leaders can kinda do that already (problem is nobody knows it exists and its a tad bugged, and yeah literally nobody uses this anyways) - We already have trenches on some maps, albeit they are pretty wide
Still a trench tho so yeah - Dev have stated this 104838 times, they are not adding shotguns

Shotguns with fixed spreads(no rng), faster fire rates, and 2 hit kills, would add some well needed variety and utility while countering every possible complaint on them. To not add them is another marker of the devs' stubbornness which has done nothing but bite them in the ass.

From the very first day this question was raised, the answer has remained unequivocally NO. This decision has not changed and will not change—they will not be added at any point.

a) unless you're oki or employed by the devs I dont think you know, I don't think the devs themselves know!
b) doesn't prevent me from reminding fools; Every complaint or issue with shotguns is perfectly resolvable, and not adding them is a monument to the devs' general failings and actively keeps out a type of player
Been around long enough to say that the likehood of shotguns being added is pretty damn small
I've been around since release, and smug motherfuckers were telling me self-heal or regen was never coming too despite the clear necessity. Thankfully the devs saw the light there
Oki didnt bother adding them for almost a full decade and has expressed his dislike towards them multiple times
if you have an argument about shotguns, make it. Otherwise? citing "le devs said no" is not a new point

I dont have any hope for this game, but there's no harm in giving the devs some good advice
again, for any interlopers in the thread, people have problems with shotgun 1 shots and RNG, neither need to be in BBR(fixed spreads, 2 hit kills), hence there's no rational reason to say no to them.
No amount of "good advice" is gonna change their minds im afraid
during the era where the vector was shitting on the game, and shotgun would have immediately made the balance tons better. Resisting positive change and variety has not helped this game keep its initial momentum
I will leave that to them, and there's no use sitting here shutting it down
its up to the devs to change their minds and unless its against the rules there's no reason not to passionately advocate for improvements. If you dont want shotguns the devs are on your side and you can just express a downvote, if you do, then why even bother talking to me like this

its fun to give the immovable object a yearly push
if there ever is an update the game will fall into the same problems and quickly lose whatever it reclaims, but maybe the devs can show a bit of a willingness to do better by fixing their last little silly hangup
oki is clearly a mediocre assault rifle type guy and dislikes anything that makes that gameplay less dominant(implied by him nuking snipers and hating shotguns). He will hopefully understand that the most jack of all trades gun doesnt need more help before his game's properly in the 100 active players range.

my thread was deleted so i guess i go here: there has to be a way to better communicate on a strategic level with the squads
like if they for some reason refuse to implement a commander role, give the squadleader the option to draw onto the map where he wants to go, which his squad and other squadleaders can see
i see it every game, that one side gets clapped because there is an opening in the line and the point gets rushed which tilts the momentum in a way which is not recoverable, since many maps, espacially in frontline or domination, are very unbalanced when the first point is captured by any team
like frontline or domination on sandy is decided, when the first point is captured. there is just no way to recover, since the zone imidiatly switches where the losing team just will not have time to organize a counterattack

Frontline and domi imo dont really need a commander
Frontline specifically suffers from maps that arent made with frontline in mind and the fact that the retreating side cannot actually retreat properly. If those issues are fixed, i belive that the mode will be fine
And domi, given the fact that infy conq will be gone (thank fuck) in the overhaul, is, and will still serve effectively as TDM, and thus does not really need a commander
I am fine with commander on conq tho, and i do think it should work more less like BF4 does it, with appropriate rewards for both the team and commander for capturing XYZ points
Just make sure commander can be vote kicked if hes being a dumbass, or if hes abusing the ability to VC (which im not really for giving him VC option, but not that it is my call anyways)
never played any bf besides bf5 so idk
i would also enjoy being able to call an artillery strike or directing vehicles.
if ppl fear kill farming, then just dont count the kills which inflicted with commander interactions
i dont want people abusing it for their own gain, it has to be incentivised to play objective
actually my main point still stands. i really dont need a commander in any gamemode necessarly. just give squadleaders a better way to communicate squad movement than vc. like draw arrows on the map
maybe make friendly squadleaders visible on the map
To put it simply, commander in BF4 works by having the commander be locked to the map screen. He can order individual squads to move to X place or capture objectives. By default, commander comes with several abilities at his disposal:
- UAV: Scans enemies in area, destroyable in BF4
- EMP: Distrupts enemy minimap and enemy commander in the area it affects, also destroyable
- Proxy attack: When used the enemy commander cant do anything for 15-ish seconds, can cancel some commander things
- Evac: just tells X squad to run lol
Commander can get new things to do when team has a specific objective captured or the commander gets enough points and fills up this bar
Filling up the bar via kill assists (basically just have the team kill people affected by UAV, EMP and just generally following objectives) and followed squad orders, gives him more things to do at the cost of using up some of that bar: - Promotion: I guess a reward for the most obediant squad but idk what it does
- Supply drop: Allows people to switch classes mid match + resupply (bf4 thing really)
- Rapid redeploy: self explanatory, selected squad deploys hella fast
- Vehicle drop: Drops basic vehicle where you designate it
Depending on the map, the rewards of captured objectives can be different, but generally you can have: - Infy scan: Scans all infantry on the map
- Vehicle scan: The above, but for vehicles
- Cruise missile: Big missile, destroys everything in a small area, only real way for commander to DIRECTLY get kills. Takes a while to deploy, can be stopped (if you know) by using proxy attack on the opposing side
- AC130: Big plane, but needs 3 people at least to be fully effective, also can be shot down
