#Better Class Recognition

This is a problem that BBR has had for a good while now, being unable to tell which class is which for many reasons. In the upcoming update the issue will become worse, as classes will have different amounts of HP and being unable to tell which class is which will cause a lot of unneeded frustrasion and confusion.

To prevent this, I suggest the following:

  • Remove the Universal set of cosmetics/armor and only have class specific sets that stand out

While it does end up removing how much you can customise your character, it also hinders class recognition greatly. Make armor and cosmetics only tied to each respective class.

Note: This does not mean removing the option to equip certain armor types from classes (ranger, light, normal, heavy, exo), just making the existing options look different from each class.

  • Make the existing class specific cosmetics visually stand out more

Class cosmetics/armor should have distict and recognisable features on them, something that you can glance at and know which class it is (example, support should always have some sort of faceshield on them with bulky armor, engineer can have a hat/helmet with bright orange headphones with armor that has some tools on it and a backpack with spare rockets on it etc.). Besides that, many things in BBR are kinda muted colorwise, so making cosmetics and armor, alongside the previously mentioned distinct features in slightly more vibrant colors would also help.

Gonna put out some stuff ive been thinking on how each class should roughly look like
Note: not complete and is subject to change and suggestion of others

  • Assault

Head: plain helmet; helmet goggles and mask; beret
Chest: should contain magazines and maybe some sort of emblem, rank or a grenade(s)
Backpack: unsure for now

  • Medic

Current medic exclusive armor is fine for the most part, just remove the universal ones
Minor changes to existing medic armor would be adding just a bit of red on stuff that doesnt have it, otherwise it is alright

  • Engineer

Head: Cap and helmets with distinct orange headphones (mic included)
Chest: armors that have some sort of tools or a radio in front of it
Backpack: has either a rocket or some device attached to it; engineer could have a unique large radio backpack

  • Support

Head: helmet with some sort of protective facemask on it; unique helmet could look like a riot helmet police wear; exo for the russian side should resemble the spetsnas helmet more
Chest: exo could look tad bulkier (slightly bigger/ longer shoulder pads and chest part being bulkier, maybe slap a lmg mag somewhere as well?); heavy could look like a slimmer version of exo with a large bandolier across

  • Recon

Mostly the same deal as medic, just remove the universal armor sets and tweak some existing stuff

And i need to specify this, classes should be recognisable from most angles regardless of the gadgets they run

I'll put my word in.

I'm in favor of visual distinctions. I'm all for making it easier to figure out which class is in front of you.

But what really pisses me off is the tinny different amounts of HP between classes. It's just idiotic... not a shooter, but a rpg... Let's add abilities from dota to lagging classes, well screw it, the logic is the same.

I'm in favor of the HP difference. For me, it doesn't make sense for you to be a support and die from 3 bullets from an MP7.
If it's to solve the TTK, making the armor more resistant wouldn't have much effect, since arms and legs will cause the same damage in all classes.
So the HP will become "efficient" in addition to being able to have a more attractive look than always following a meta.
And as the name itself says, Classes, they must follow their functions independently.
If were to have 100% freedom, would have to have only 1 caracter and not 6 (I don't know how much the leader class comes with again)

I'm in favor of classes not differing in stats in any way. They were differentiated by their equipment. That's it.

Then you don't have the problem that you're used to one ttk, and there's a guy around the corner already with another. And you stop shooting before you kill him.

Speed support just needs to be the same as everyone else.

Also into this argument of taking away the stormtrooper's rpg buffs.

Im not against support having better defensive tools, but lets be real most of these changes is because most people think exo should tank everything, then proceeds to gets shocked when they get caught out of position as a “positioning” styled class.

And this is coming from someone who uses heavy and normal armors on it mainly with the current leg/arm shot stuff (yes even with LMGs), which, in your words “is a death sentence”. Yet I along with other players can put in the work with it?

Exo currently is just a crutch for bad positioning imo, which I very well feel like extra health will lead into as well depending on implementation

On one hand HP difference is sorta good in the sense that the leg/arm meta will be gone (hitting the chest is actually viable + headshots matter more), as well as make TTK more consistent as opposed to armor increasing TTK once and being weaker afterwards

But on the other it depends on the HP difference between classes and how healing will work

Also have to bring up the fact that armors themselves would have to receive some changes stat wise now that armor durability is out of the picture

(If you just removed durability and kept everything else on exo for example shit would suck by every conciveable metric)

But yeah, 100% exo armor specifically needs a rework to be more engaging and practical to use in a way that isn’t “I need training wheels to play BBR”

Exo helm is fine where it’s at in regards to tanking sniper bolts, otherwise it would be useless

(In all seriousness, idc have a milsim mode for the tactical players, but assuming the BF crowd, most of where the 80k players came from, want a squad/hll like experience or something similar to that when they came to “relive BF3/4/1” is foolish. Same with them having to deal with people camping in the middle of nowhere but being able to tank a gunfight because fuck you I picked the right class, very foolish.)
