Greetings everyone,
Right now, the game has modes with 64x64 and 128x128 players, but the maps are the same for both, leading to large clusters and "meatgrinder" situations in 128x128. I think it would be awesome to add more maps, twice the size, and also include:
Artillery (mortars)
Supply vehicles
Airplanes (even just as support)
I'm sure this would add more tactics and variety to the game, and allow for more massive battles.

So more "dead" space and flatland that will never be used? Yeah I'll pass. Waki F point (tank spawn area, opposite of bridge), zalfi beaches and islands in the water, a decent chunk kodiak and multiislands, wineparadise's bridge/dam side of the map.. I could go on, but these are all low/no activity areas for a reason. Expanding the maps will just increase the occurrence of this problem.
Airplanes are confirmed to not be added, even as some support too,
Mortars.. no, just no. People do not want to fight against other people sitting behind redzone/unbreakable cover spamming explosives risk free, as evidenced by previous threads. Frag grenades + support can already technically do this to some degree with trophy and possible grenade indicators coming in a future update acting as counters to it anyways, and even then, people complain about that strategy.
Supply vehicle already has an alternative in the game: supply drop via squad/build menu. Whilst cool on paper for conq/invasion, it would create a redundancy issue past the early game and nobody would bother using it. Infys wouldn't need it, and tanks/helis/etc. Would just return to base for repairs/ammo as it's usually safer to do anyways.
picture for mortar discussion references. Pocket mortar is an exception as it's basically a "grenade launcher replacing RPG" suggestion and is nowhere close to the mortar that you are describing here/BF4's mortar
Vehicles wont be fix in short time, and it seems supply vehicles are useless, even for tanks and other assault ones. I will support if vehicles can resupply at objectives.
I'd love to add planes, jet, mortars or something similar, though balance them maybe more trouble. Look at weapon stat balance history for more details 
Artillery/mortars counter infantry that will bring some balance to a supposedly combined arms game but that will never be allowed to happen in this game because it will make inf mains mald so hard
“Balance” based on conq loops? Brother this statement alone leaves me to believe you’ve never touched the rest of the game, or been in games where the explosive use was heavy, even with trophies

I'm obviously talking about conquest here, given the context of the suggestion
When considering changes it should go without saying they would need to apply to all modes given how the game’s class/gear system works.
One change might be good in conq 127 but it would absolutely kill the flow of rush 32, to give an example
And vice versa ofc
I will say this: the closest thing we got to something like this was an air support system for airstrikes and the like (WIP feature. It eventually got scrapped and as far as im aware never really made it to any public version of the game in the EA era outside of the menu showing it was planned.)
