#most smgs + movement meta needs to go

majority of the time when i play im either killed by snipers or people running around at mach jesus with smgs that shoot so fast i blink and im dead and they are already gone. this also goes for high rate of fire guns like f2000, it feels like most of the time to get kills you gotta move like sonic the hedgehog and shoot a gun that matches the speed. meanwhile im using a M4 and maxxing armor and ammo capacity as engineer and i get curb stomped because im not following the current meta, and i will never follow it.

ps i know im not the best int his game, its just frustrating to see this, i joined week 1 of this game coming out and enjoyed it and it was funner then because the amount of sweat to casual ratio was more casuals than sweat, now most matches have sweats who have so much movement thay spin 360 pron and shoot at the same time and still run off

yeah sounds about right.

even if thats removed
tryhards will always stomp people

#

if your good
youll be good

if your bad
youll be bad

and when a playercount is this low
its hard to get that casual/sweat ratio like it was

look at COD after the first 3 months how many quit and how many tryhards stick around till the next one

#

SMG/movement is removed
ok now they go to the next meta and people complain about the same thing basically
waa tryhard this waa tryhard that

I don't really think this is an issue of what guns are meta. I think this is an issue of what engagement ranges you're taking fights vs. the engagements ranges optimal for your build. Sure, snipers are annoying, but it's not like you can't counter them with a simple structure build to hide behind if you're trying to hunker down and hold an angle. As far as the SMG/hyper-movement players, if you're keeping your distance, it also shouldn't be as large of an issue. Yes, a player who is used to a certain SMG can laser at range, but the M4 has a much better damage profile at the ranges you should be engaging at anyway.

Work smarter, not harder, amigo.

Edit: I am a PP2000 main, and I definitely have won fights at ranges I should not have won, but only because I use that gun so much.

Im going to be real, big/large backpack/and heavy/exo helmet sucks unless you’re trying to hold down a position. It’s as 2b said, you probably aren’t dead set on a playstyle and as a result you get stomped.

Also it isn’t even about “meta”. People will say certain character equipments suck for them and dismiss it, on the polar opposite side people found a way to make it work. Maybe you can find a way to make these things work offensively though, who knows.

And I play a decent chunk of engi/assault myself with the M110, AK, ACR, etc (hell even the god awful pp19 sometimes for fun). Not exclusively SMGs/PDWs

the spinning at Mach jesus still needs to go.

G3’s straight up ass, and whilst AK15 is useable you’re better off using the scar or ak74 (AR equivalent)

#

In fact a decent chunk of the starting guns and early unlocks simply suck

SSG? Worst sniper in the game objectively

L86? Useable but just an inferior RPK

M4? Useable but again better off waiting for the groza or Aug, or using the AK

So it shouldn’t be shocking most people who play with the UMP, AK74, and MP7 end up enjoying it the most, because they have no other “good” unlocks and by the time they get to that point, they likely have decent attachments with said starting weapons and just want to keep using it.

It’s more of an issue of buffing underperforming weapons and encouraging people to try new guns, imo. SMGs in general already got nerfed (rip pp19 my beloved) and don’t see why they would need more

Sniper ey🤓

its never been the damage of SMGs that people had a problem with, not counting the vector and the one update with the UMP. its the speed you can get while using them.

worldly wraith
#

having that much difference of speed between clases only makes the slower ones feel awful

dark barn
#

even more so because the SMGs are not actually lighter than the AR class. I think the vector and mp7 are the only ones in the game that are more than a pound lighter than the m4.

#

there should not be that much difference between carbine/ar/SMG/pdw class.

people have no idea how old engi was...

dark barn
#

yeah 10% faster, we know.

SCAR has always felt terrible to me and I don't know why.

As as support enjoyer, you don’t need speed and smg to be the top player kill wise in a match.

#

I’m usually able to chill in the top 10 for kills in a match on support pretty easily.

#

Support requires a different mindset, it plays veeeery differently to other classes due to lack of speed + more HP + continuous fire, everything's a lot more deliberate.

I main support and when I switch class, I always end up getting stomped for the first 10 mins because I still play like a support, but without the health or firepower to back it up

I think its pretty balanced for us speedy boys. I grew up on quake, TF2, CoD, and other fast pace games so its how I enjoy playing. I select the lightest/empty armor so My time to die is stupid fast with 1-2 headshots or 3-5 body. The best way to counter a zig zag if hes up in your face >10m is to hipfire. Typically you'll find us out in the wild doing flanks, or CQB in buildings. Mines will counter us everytime in CQB so drop them like bread for the birds.

dark barn
#

its not the top speed and zig zags that are the actual problems, and aren't being looked at anyway

worldly wraith
#

i think after the nerfs the game would benefit a lot of reducing the movement speed a little bit... like... 10%, just to kinda finish the movement

Yep

#

Also a massive lack of sounds

pure sinew
#

Support is supposed to be slow/slugish because ultimately its kit is focused on defensive play

granite abyss
#

If you think about it game was missing sounds for so many things that should have been there in the first place

pure sinew
#

Sure you can grab a BR and go a bit on the offense, but ultimately if you aren’t building cover, taking advantage of the armor, and/or supplying ammo, assault is just better in terms of the tools provided.

C4 is no longer silent

#

Landing on the ground now has sounds

#

This raises awareness tenfold

granite abyss
#

I partucularly like making pushes with building and antinades

#

It can help a lot in tighter areas

pure sinew
#

Fair. Point is the whole gimmick of support is mainly using cover/armor to your advantage

granite abyss
#

Indeed

pure sinew
#

Like it or not it needs that disadvantage in movement to not be too busted, unless you want to risk it with normal everything and try to make it work. Where as assault would just go back into the “boarderline useless” category without it + the passive buffs

granite abyss
#

Its just basic class balancing 101

#

If you are making a tanky guy you make him slower

daring vault
#

It's the classic issue here where some people really like the movement and some people really dislike it, combine that with a smaller playerbase of mostly dedicated players and for someone who doesn't like the high-speed spinning it becomes unfun pretty quickly.

#

But on the other hand some people like myself really enjoy the movement so kinda a rock and a hard place for the devs.

dark barn
#

at the least the change of direction is objectively bad, this way its less flailing and more skill based. those high end guys will adapt easily, it just means the guys who spining to cross your screen 4 times in less than a second are not gonna exist as much. allowing more determinate gameplay on both sides

worldly wraith
#

to be fair, the games is ages better than relesease when it comes to movement balancing
