The current islands are not sufficient as focal points for contention
put the castle further back to make it harder to snipe the mainland. The main focus of the castle should be to counter snipers on the islands.

The problem isnt the sniper farm, its that it diverts even more players and makes the teams more spead out, which could create boring matches with less combat
Battlebit will take focus to spread players across map to make fight more moderated and less chaotic at Conquest gamemode.
While Frontline/Invasion/Domination gamemodes will be more focused on bottlenesk meat grinder experiences.
I'm in favor of this. It would be interesting if the island was a trench system with outward facing pillboxes or something.
so conquest is leaning more towards the slower paced milsim style over frontline?
That way, snipers could still occasionally interact with it while not making the island a killing field for recons.

tbf maybe conquest would benefit from a more linear progression rather than all points at once to help moderate the chaos a bit
Yeah that's pretty much what we went to see
but no worry, i alos only recently learned about its existence
Battlebit will contain both Linear objective places and Spreaded objective places on maps.
But on stats peopels more like spreaded maps like new District,Outskirts,Kodiak due you have freedom of choice to move and have unique fight everywhere.
While linear objective placement is less popular because its more repetative each round (aka Wakistan,Valley,SandySunset,Azagor).

wakistan is fun on conquest but does feel like frontline all the time lmao. You did a good job with new district and outskirts they play really well
people already consider salhan conquest "unplayable" off of a single BTR being parked in the water on an advantageous angle
snipers are one thing, but crossmap tanks watching the water for boats or BTRs denying entry to the island seems guaranteed, and automatically annoying

i dont mind a point on g but i know for sure i would never go there since its too far out from the rest
a castle island would be sick
well, by data mostly only snipers and boats moving here, so the will have something to play on
zalfi already feels like sniper heaven
just make sure that the castle doesnt make sniping from the island even easier
yea, walk along coatline its a huge risk indeed.
But other part outside of coatline and island is sniper free safe area with most low sniper kill rate.
i play a 128 community server, with conquest/infconq/dom only, people snipe nonstop on infconq
but on dom/conq you can genuinely get around them
with the water mechanics we have currently i think it could be a tough one to actually get to without a coordinated heli drop. its really easy to get shot off of a jetski or the other boats
which reminds me to speak on both sides of this issue, zalfi is a damn good map
like one of my favorite new ones, love the lighting, love the building layouts, love that there's no extremely annoying tall buildings that are permanently occupied

yea, we are aware that for now there is no posibilities to swim under water surface or have ability for using a secondary weapon while swimming for self defense purpose, because of that Battlebit do not have a map focused on Isolated Islands like BF4 Paracel Storm map.

in a perfect world, the proposed change would be met with 100% approval just assuming that coordination of that level is regular on conquest of all things
i have entirely changed my mind, i think the island OBJ would be too OP
one coordinated heli and the match will never feel like conquest again, just tom & jerry chasing backcapped points
should get couple jetskis around the island so people wont be stuck there until they die

one beacon and a coordinated group of 8 can destabilize a 128 player conquest match, and get some serious backcapping going
i think most typical conquest players wouldn't enjoy having their decisive push-forward victory nullified by "spawn island" thats impossible to push
all it takes is one BTR taking a safe spawn path to G, winning the vehicle fight and then just waiting on the opposite side of pushes to counter them while in the water
long story short, makes it seem like flanking will become a guarantee and not a skill check for zalfi

So nobody will defend it mostly which means why have it unless it has some amazing advantage (besides sniping)
Maybe there should be some test plays made before. Or the island should stay the same on the outside but has a infantry only bunker integrated
We need to have at least a bridge or two up to the island
Either that or making the island itself less of the point to defend but rather an underground bunker or something
This would prevent giving even extra cover to vehicles and snipers and make the surface of the island dangerous for snipers and vehicles.
The inner side of the underground facility can have like a cave entrance for boats and npcs to drive/ invade into but has otherwise multiple entrances.

Honestly, adding more boats (without guns) to facilitate an island objective would be great. The only reason anyone is on those islands as of rn is to use snipers.

I voted no because I think it would be frustrating as vehicles currently sit to try and get to the island without A. a coordinated team for cannon fodder distraction B. way more big boats that don't blow up when you sneeze or C. a heli drop. This super limits your options as a solo player if you're stuck in a bum squad/without a pilot. If boats and vehicles were less clunky it could be fun. But they suck to operate ATM so fix that first and a lot of options become much more reasonable.
if boats/helis are the only way to reach the island it will be a RPG fest im all for another objective but currently people dont play all the objectives on that map few people fight over F or A so another would be pointless unless theres a better way to reach it for both teams
what about creating a larger island where G is situated?
with the castle and a village around it. With the upcoming less destructive buildings it might provide enough cover while the flat landscape of the island itself (beside the castle as the poi) is not giving too much of an advantage
I would take away the smaller islands, push the G island a bit more to the left so it's in the center of the lake/ bay and make it big enough for the castle and the surrounding village

Make the area right size, capturing the point will be relatively sniper free, while the tops would allow plenty of long range.
I think the big island could def take a bit pressure from the other points. If it is challenged and fought for, snipers cannot concentrate to fire on the mainland people

Agreed. But the snipers from the mainland (all sides) are a separate issue. No true cover from them for any mid-short range

@lyric bobcat I should have clarified my reason for the 'diamond head' idea - it was mainly to fit the aesthetic.
If castle were like Ramparts (IE: St Augustine, Florida), it would fit the map aesthetic quite well.

The only reason APC safe spotting is a problem to begin with is because water fucks with explosive damage too hard for some reason. Fix that and you’ll likely see it being less of a factor
But we really need the G point so that half the map isn’t pointless outside of snipers having a near no-risk safe area. Add some bridges to get to G like the suggestions mentioned as well so players can at least fight back and not be sitting ducks in water trying to get to that point

After reading everyone’s responses it seems like people would want a G objective but with the whole castle idea it seems a bit out of place with the rest of the maps theme. What if it’s more of a “military outpost” with maybe a stationary AA post on the inside. Open to being shot out something like mini guns on the black hawks. It would help with heli suppression and give the point more of a point to capture as a strategy position. If you allow spawning maybe some low power scoped turrets on the outside to do as protection. This would also allow it to be a final front line push area for both teams as a defensive last line if you wanted to play it that way. Also as devs do read this please think about placing buildable AA on some maps with major heli path ways. There’s only so much LMG’s can do. Or a rocket launcher like a SAM Site.
The castle is not that out of place but I think the overall theme of Zalfibay implies its on a sunny tropical beach and not where you would expect a castle
Of course there were forts and stuff in more tropical regions
I always thought of Zalfibay as a vacancy resort with wonderful view to the ocean from the safe harbours
On the other hand, lets be radical and get rid of ALL the islands to enforce water battles🤌🏻

Ive seen locations where centuries old buildings and castles are close to newer buildings/ resorts
Usually repurposed to be tourist attractions and such
One frustrating thing about using the boats on this map is APCs can be damaged using the boats minigun and I think it if just did a small amount to damage instead of apcs being invinvicible in the water would help the flow
New barsa did this and it’s hated by most people because of it.
Repeating questionable decisions only causes people to dodge more maps

Essentially its an evolvement of the castle design, but for the Imperial age. By this time, the formal castle design was no longer as utilized (outdated by cannons) and was very common along coastal ports

Zalfi is a tropic resort town, so it fits the map aesthetic. If they build another island with (another bunker), it just won't have the level of excitement as it could.

I think it would be good to have the point. The only thing I'd like to see (in general too) is to have idle/unused vehicles despawn/respawn. If people take all the boats and then leave them on shore, your team is at quite a disadvantage. I almost always c4 my vehicles once I'm done but I don't see that out of most players.
If there was a dock or almost marina which leads close to the objective so the boats are actively near the action
This would also solve the problem of vehicles abused as mobile spawn beacond smh

This map should have a storm event, that would change the G flag keeping walls (if there are walls) but raising sea level or something where some of the islands become submerged. Idk how much potential there is with the unity engine since I’m sure a lot of assets are made completely from scratch but turning the objective into a challenge to get to would be nice, while previously having some bridges too it. Maybe they are 2 lane bridges that go from island to island to then reaching G. Side note on that topic, if weather is not possible yet then bridge destruction would be another good idea, like they would collapse if they had been destroyed at the beams. Making the only way to get there being by boat, transport, or swimming. Creating a challenge for the opposing team, but that leaves balancing issues and complaints. Thing is there are other objectives that could be achieved instead of that if the enemy is holding G down. Flanks, destroying enemy bridges, then moving in from the rear and capturing, or attempting.
