#Weapon Reskin Pattern System

then weapons have your custom camo or whatever applied on top of that. devs add as many weapons as they like w/o as much weapon balance worries and people can choose their weapon more freely.
like come on there's like five M4s and M4 variants you can just maie them the same.
arguably the HK416 is an M4A1 with a suit and tie
what ??
are you saying all ARs (or any major category of weapon) should be statistically the same but only contain visual differences?
this aint that type of game...
Balancing is not the most important in this game, this is not a competitive shooter, its a sandbox teamplay shooter :b
or at least tries to be
depends on how close they are but yes more or less
if Gun A is 5,56 and shoots at 800rpm and gun B is 5,56 and shoots at 800rpm... Do you really gotta try and find another niche for it?
i mean yeah but still games that include this big of an arsenal tend to have a habit of trying to find niches and auch for new weapons
and I'd rather that not have to happen
also something something realism bonus idk.
Little late for that lmao
Tho i do agree that with less weapons to balance, the devs can focus on the movement problem lmao
what movement problem
Except they don’t “choose their weapon” at all because they’re all the exact same. This exclusively serves to remove player choice.
This is downright wrong. The HK is specialised very differently to the M4. It’s a higher fire rate, faster killing gun with a lot more recoil
Honestly rn i cant really think of a gun that does feel samey as some other gun tbh
They are doing some things with the movement tho?
Like schorsch said aint the type of game for that
This suggestion just aint for bbr
Their cyclic rates are close to the same and the layput of the weapons are near identical. BBR is willing to fudge the numbers a lot, it's fine.
700rpm vs 825rpm is not “close to the same”
vector vs pp19
In real life they are actually pretty much the same. BBR just does whatever with weapon stats to have different niches. His point is that you can add a lot more weapons by having them just be skins and letting those be applied to whatever set of stats seems fitting for their given niche.
Then the game gets boring because there’s no variety between weapons
His idea definitely implies much less statistically different weapons than there are now. Firstly because he implied one for each archetype, but secondly because having to remember a much larger pool of gun names where some of them were identical to each other would be impractical, so there would have to be a small set of these gun types so you could remember those and tell what belongs to what intuitively
You could have few guns that have a lot of versatility or customization
But i prefer bbr having more weapons
...???
There's definitely going to be variety. Heck, given how some guns can just be Definitively Better because people don't want them to be filling the same roles, it might open up those weapons to be more used.
cough F2000
Thing is you are basically giving people an illusion of variety by just slapping various skins on what is fundementally the same gun
That is not variety that is just lying to the people that you have more guns in a game than there really are
This theoretically could work IF battlebit was a specific type of game and had boatloads upon boatloads of customization, of which it has none
They already lie about teamwork and communication mattering, what's one more lie
To be fair you cant communicate if people just refuse to do so
Given that the game is planned to have a considerable roster of weapons, I'd honestly say it'll encounter what Phantom Forces and Call of Duty did soon enough. Like, outside of adding gimmicks by the dozen, you're gonna hit "well these two guns have stat diffs but they're functionally identical lol"
or the dreaded "hey these stats are very different but stop being effective above and below a certain point"
"these 2 guns have the same stats and are functionally identical"
not like that's the suggestion or anything
shrug
One system wants every gun to be different. It gets here in the end but also has a couple busted and a couple junk weapons. "I love the style of this gun but I also don't like playing with a hand tied behind my back."
How many times has that been heard before?
well you couldn't know
but i used the hb for a solid 800 kills before it got its buffs...
i also used the ultimax before its buffs
people use the f2000
people use the scoop
you're talking bs
as long as everything is viable with certain playstyles and for certain people, people will use everything
I know that person. I'm them. I love the vibe and sound of the funny spacegun but why does it have to suck?
there are people who use it because they do good with it, not because "haha funny sound"
badger mentioned 🦡
what you are suggesting will completely kill any sort of variety in guns, will force people into an incredibly unhealthy meta and no longer allow for individual players to use a unique gun that suits themselves best
and love 'em or hate 'em, but the feedback team did do their fair share of balancing for the devs in a way that benefitted the game
You wouldn't be able to entirely avoid balance implications of different weapon skins since BBR guns actually interact with nearby terrain, so having a longer model would be less advantageous in CQC. Also, the bipod is quite finnicky and some guns have a much easier time getting it deployed.
I’d rather have a couple of junk weapons than a fraction of the weapons existing.
And “junk” is an exaggeration as for literally every weapon you can find a couple of people who’ve convinced themselves it’s really good
Imo the bipod part seems like just a general consistency issue. Please doki, I beg. allow our soldiers to have longer bipod legs
