#Hear Me Out... Pocket mortar

This weapon was origionally a meme, but I think that it could be fun to play with and, if the radius was small enough, it would be as balanced as rocket launchers.
yes
Great idea like a short spread blunderbuss
at that point you could really just ask for a GL since it is what your asking for ultimately
something like the M79
once i said that i remembered we already have the M320 but it only fires smokes so just stick HE-DP in there and tada👍
no wayz, brimstone lineups??
Would rather not have a “noob tube” type of weapon tbh. I do respect that you want alternatives to the rpgs though instead of just “oh hey here’s a suggestion where assault performs engi’s demolition role but better”, I’ll give you that.
but ultimately this would nullify frag rpg even more, when frag is already seen as a meme that doesn’t fill its intended role (infantry killing) rpg heat overperforms by being good against everything in general, making it picked in most situations (with tandem filling its intended role, specifically being picked against blackbirds, apcs, and tanks.)
unless it replaces frag and heat gets proper rebalancing. Which I honestly don’t see happening anytime soon tbh. Would be cool though
I hope they do something with rpgs
Cause like
No bleed next update
And entire point was to cause it
So yeah, frags a bigger doodoo now
I agree with you on most of what you said. What I intended was for it to be a very precise version that would not destroy vehicles, rather it would go through them partially and be able to hit targets inside. Just clarifying.
Not a real weapon for hitting open infantry.
how about a mortar , it could be a class specific weapon too, and it will be good to hit enemies that are not directly in line of sight and behind objects
Regular mortars would be prone to safezone/redzone abuse, which is already bad enough as it stands
If I had to make a direct example: BF4. A lot of servers outright forbid use mortar in redzone because it’s not fun to fight against, nor would be fair to the player who’s getting attacked if you’re hiding behind a rock or somewhere that makes it near impossible for you to be killed
Only way i see mortars being added is if:
- It is a buildable with a strict build limit (cannot be moved, can be destroyed)
- Can only be placed by 1 class
- Cannot be placed in safezones
- When fired, it takes a while until it reaches the ground, with a very audible whistling sounds around 5 seconds before impact
- You have to judge and zero the distance yourself (no seeing exactly where it will land)
Map rework for having more precise gridline needed for judge distance, and mortal have a max distance limit too
Wait what?
Oh yeah
Thats a thing
Bleeds is gonna be removed next update

Just in case you are out of the loop
Covers everything coming up
Yeah I only really got back here maybe a week ago, but this is looking like a great patch
Been really annoyed lately at how useless the magnified optics were on ARs, BRs, etc, so this fixes something I've been wanting for a while now
Other than some specific desidions, it does look like a good patch overall
Yeah there's a few things in there that make me scratch my head, but it could end up working out fine. If it doesn't, it can be reversed at some point.
Actually… may I suggest the vz. 99 ANTOS 60mm lightweight mortar? Engineers only, and they have to mount it first so as to keep it from becoming too OP.
I meant the pocket mortar meme. It is a large shell loaded into a flare gun.
Is that a vacuum?
Sure it is, cleans up rooms up to 1300m away lol
flare mortar would be interesting for night mode maps
Like flares aren't annoying enough for night maps already?
well not the kind that we usually have but the one that stays in the air for awhile. basically its meant to light up an area with a larger radius but doesnt impact NVG as much unless the person is much closer to the light source (i.e: if they are looking at it or on a high building near the flare.)
In this case it'd be useless, but to make it useful would be to make night maps even more annoying
if its annoying means it works no?
Just because it works doesn't mean it belongs
