#Damage by Distance? (HS Only) (Snipers)

Hello!

I read somewhere that some changes will come towards armor, bleed and whatnot once the new update rolls out.
Will this make it more difficult for snipers in the future?

I've played a lot of sniper lately, and absolutely love the M200.
More and more I'm getting used to the weapon, and try to switch up between long distance and up close gameplay.
But! I've noticed quite a few times that a simple helmet seems to be a guaranteed barrier against any type of bullets coming your way.

It does makes sense that it works the way it does currently (i like it the way it is) - What doesn't make sense is that there is no change in effect when standing within 3-10 meters within distance of a sniper, shooting directly at a players head, and it still reacts as if you were standing 1000 or 2000 m away reflecting the bullet like it's nothing.

  • In my opinion: Hitting a headshot within 10 meters should penetrate any armor we currently have available, when using a such a powerful weapon such as a sniper.

This (should or could) be made to only affect headshots! - and not increase the damage caused on other body part no matter the distance or the weapon.
The current setup kinda makes me want to go back to camping, since I have such a huge disadvantage when I try to join in to fight, and the result is the same either way except I'll be safe at a distance.

I honestly didn't even think of the vehicles, but to be frank, anything with firepower equal to the sniper and/or above should kill instantly when standing within 10 meters and hitting a headshot.

Was about to say it would be overpowered on vehicles, but then reminded myself that it's only relevant in very close combat, and god knows the vehicles could use a little help against the constant barrage of C4's and RPG's 😂😁

Snipers in general need to be looked at, and I do believe they should go back to one shot headshots. Not only for the reasoning for close range effectiveness but for a trade off to make longer shots feel a bit more of a skillful endeavor if the shot is well placed.

Currently it's just too easy to blast someone 1 mile/1600m away.

On more of a personal note, why don't the headshots sound much more satisfying, I feel like that's missing.

Idk where to even start with snipers, but they need a whole ass rework, mainly for 3 reasons:

  1. Generally a very unbalanced weapon class
  2. Sniper trails
  3. Longer the distance the more damage it deals shenanigans

Personally i would love for it to be one shot kill on headshot no matter the distance.
This was more of a midway solution because as we all know, people who don't play sniper LOVES snipers (again, jk)

No, bullets loose their energy with distance, You can't just kill with any headshot made

But yea at this point it is kinda silly for the more more damage the farther it goes thing to still be in place

Sniping is already very easy, and having extra damage on top of that just makes it even easier

Like i assume its that way to make long range sniping easier and all that

Imo snipers should at the very least have constant damage across the range
Sure its gamey but at least it will raise the skill ceiling a bit

But besides that, stats for these snipers need to be looked at alongside removing or heavily tweaking sniper trails

Trails just make you a literal beacon and it pretty much killed close range sniping

Snipers could probably use like a red dot or something also

Seems weird that the closest you get to that are canted and top sights

And they could just tweak stuff like ADS speed and making sure bullets go out of the barrel until the animation is completed

that's why we don't have red dots for snipers afaik

Also I would recommend using the MSR or the L96 instead of the M200 as a sniper. Both allow you to move around quicker than the M200 and with enough practice you can find some great spots to snipe in CQC.
