You can take both and the nade has more range so you can safely throw it behind cover. It also detonates on impact so if you are carrying HEAT you can do a quick combo to take down APCs.
As a driver the most annoying part is they don't make much noise so you can get chunked pretty badly before realizing what's hitting you.
