It is recognized that setting weapons to a fixed zero will improve the performance of automatic firearms at short-medium ranges. I know many will consciously pre-set a weapon’s zero once spawning in.

Because zeroing a weapon to a particular range can greatly improve the performance across a weapon’s entire effective range, I propose a means to set a weapon’s zero such that you will always spawn in with weapons set to that range.

This may take several forms:

  • A universal zero that zeroes all weapons with a zeroing mechanic (all weapons start with a 100m zero)

  • A class-specific zero that pre-sets a zero to all weapons used by a particular class (ex. Assault spawns with a 100m zero, Recon spawns with a 300m zero, Support spawns with a 200m zero)

  • A category-specific zero that pre-sets a zero to all weapons in a particular category (ex. all assault rifles are set to a 100m zero but all LMGs are set to a 200m zero)

  • A weapon-specific zero that pre-sets a zero to a particular weapon (ex. the SCAR-H is set to a 200m zero but the FAL is set to a 50m zero)

None of these forms wouldn’t affect the ability for you to manually change the zero to a different range after spawning in. U

An alternative would be to allow players to set the zero of a particular weapon at the start of a match and have that zero be retained throughout, only requiring the single input at the beginning of the match.

Other recommendations are welcome.

would love to be able to set most of my weapons to a 300 zero. I manually do that to most anyway

BF4 fixed up head "glitching" by using a combination of zeroing and such. Would be a good thing to implement in this game as well

#

Bullets actually coming out of the gun and such

Have other games implemented a similar system like this?

#

It seems like a cool idea but it is extra. Do you think a lot of people will utilize this?

round bear
#

plenty would, just for the fact you can have a weapon set to your preferred zero every time.

Yeah I think a default of 100m would be fine for all weapons, then you can go up and down as needed since you usually aren't going to zero for sub-100m.

If my selective fire can stay on semi after I accidentally hit the wrong button and die, zeroing should be able to stay at what I select as well.

We asked tonns of times that

  • laser
  • zeroing
  • scope selection
  • firemode
    game should remember between lives.

That gives no effect...
But, we have tonns of new camouflages every patch.

Finally someone found the good image for.

Zeroing works here btw, especially if you use 3.4x-4x crosshair and heavy bullet like ak-15, scar or g3. if you set it to 100-150 meters you will hit target more often than set to zero.

Btw AK-74 IRL has zeroing 0-1000 and default 440, here - 0-300, and default 0

I want to play a shooter, not do math and geometry.

The idea is that no matter the distance, proper aim at a person-sized target will yield hits to somewhere important since bullets have a habit of flying in an arc which intersects at up to two points due to the nature of sighting.

@pearl pivot personally for you your rifle will set to "A" mode that means like 300-500 by default (weapon dependent). Btw today you play math more, once you choose sniper unit and always hit ground under enemy head, because you forget to set zeroing again.

I don't use distance setting at all, especially on assault rifles. Nobody plays with them at 100+ meters because of the severe damage reduction, it's just pointless.

I don't use distance measurement on sniper rifles either, because I'm used to the size of models at different distances and it's much easier for me to take a preposition, it's also faster than looking for the right distance.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand why anything in this topic should be touched at all, when everything works.

If it's for assault rifles, I don't understand doubly so, because they are played with up to 100 meters max. Beyond that it's just pneumatics in terms of damage.

Можешь на русском мне объяснить, я мб криво перевожу. Но реально не понимаю зачем лезть туда, где все работает

Я и не хочу ничего менять, я хочу чтобы zeroing был доступен везде до 1000 и сохранялся между жизнями. Всё....

@pearl pivot

IRL хрень это скорее маркетинг с мувиком что мол "тут все выглядит квадратным но продумано круче чем в реале". по факту запоминание между жизнями и усё

your statement is simply "I would not use this, so why bother". if you don't want to use it, just don't? also you are making alot of assumptions on weapons that just aren't true. AR's while not as effective, can engage at 300 meters pretty easily, even with damage drop-off its still enough to kill someone within a second or two if you land your shots, you can two shot a helmet less person at 200 meters with headshots. setting your range to 300(or 200) means you can engage targets further out than normal, but hardly effects you upclose.

I just don't get it. The average maximum range is about a hundred meters, what 200-300 you're talking about. It happens once a month.

"(50-200m seems to be the most popular) and then it's just put crosshair on target and click." That's what I do, except I don't set anything up beforehand. Why would you enter something just to enter it?

#

If it's about saving range adjustment values after death, that's a good idea. If it's some kind of tinsel for the sake of tinsel, then just why, everything works as it is.

round bear
#

"just why" don't use it then. if you don't change your zero it would change nothing for you.

pearl pivot
#

To me it still looks like bullshit for bullshit's sake that you have to waste time on and won't change anything. You're the one saying it won't affect me. And there are plenty of people like me, why waste resources on something that needs 3 dudes from Discord?

round bear
#

wtf do you think this is?

#

its literally a "set range" button

#

you don't like it, don't use it.

#

its also one of the more requested QoL features, so you can fuck off with saying nobody wants it.
