The damage drop off on guns is already an unrealistic feature so this wouldn't detract from the games realism

It would be nice to make long range guns like the AUG or battle rifles really stand out at long range

I probably wouldn't enable it on SMGs though

It's a good idea. It allows for damage changes while not changing the overall ttk

An smg could get a bit more range for a good bit more recoil and such.

Or you could take away range but have way less recoil

It's a fantastic way to finagle a gun to fit your needs
