#Don’t lock non-cosmetic items behind challenges

In #dev-wip the recent posts imply non-cosmetic things will require people to do specific tasks to get. Why is this a thing? This means people can be forced to play in a way they don’t want to to get something. I would be ok if it was just limited to a subset of camos or charms, but locking things like ranger armour behind it? Why would you do that.

hope items can be unlocked both through challenges and level up

can choose to complete challenges for faster unlocks, or wait until you reach a sufficient level

The challenge Oki used as an example was kinda shitty, so I hope he makes them reasonable

...For a sniper player, that would take a very long time, so with the new update, they will be able to unlock an alternative armor by completing a few tasks:
make 1000 kills above 500 meters + destroy 50 gadgets.

It's an __alternative __they are not locking armor behind challenges.

It is annoyingly vague on how it’s set up though.

I overlooked that (don't play as support that much), you're right it's super vague. I guess we will see when the update goes live.

PS: imo people will get to rank 150 sooner than they will be able to complete the 1k kills at 500+ meters challenge.

We would need confirmation from oki on what he means to know for sure though

People asked for it. I’m unlikely to find a link to a post with a request, but there definitely was one.

You should properly read the stuff you're going to write around.
Study the stuff before babbling about misconceptions.

Bro leveling in the game is quite fast

#

The challenges are opcional

#

Lit, I'm started the prestige 2 yesterday and I leveled up from 0 to 45 in 4 hours

#

The weekly challenges helps a lot

This post's fine print reads:
"I dont want to have to change anything im doing, or play any differently, and still be able to unlock everything in the game"

People are dying for new ways to play the game, and for new challenges. Their imagination only goes so far. This is an amazing change to the game and a very important step forward to combating the dull way to unlock things. Which is exp, and gun kills.

Im fine with pernament unlocks (if it presumably transfers to prestiges as well) but some requirements are a bit ridiculous
1k at 500m is bit too much for ranger recon armor

#

50 gadgets, whatever its not too bad

tulip pebble
#

But I do think it is concerning if it is indeed the only way to unlock many things that aren't just small cosmetic bits

crystal gull
#

I personally think its not that big of a deal that you have to unlock it like that

#

I just have a problem with the requirements

#

1k over 500m is really too much

#

Something has to be lowered

#

Yes it is very good armor but that is far too many kills for it

#

I also have a bit of a worry on how the entire thing is going to be implemented

#

Is it going to count kills from when the update drops or is it going to count lifetime kills with whatever gadget is required, say anti personel mines

tulip pebble
#

kills for gadgets are already tracked

#

so that shouldn't be a concern

crystal gull
#

Well hopefully it shouldnt

# crystal gull 1k over 500m is really too much

nah it really isnt a whole lot for a perma unlock. The whole point to this is to get players something to do, not just for a few days. Cause we will be in the same place we are left off with. Nothing to do.

I feel like most players will stop prestiging before they get that many kills at that range

I would agree with this being permanent unlocks with the challenges though provided you can still do all regular unlocks

Its just one of the many issues with the game, if im going to be honest. Val with the prestige skins is another thing to help with that, with proper systems and challenges in place it will not be the only unlock you're looking at.

#

Put it this way, if thats the last unlock for the sniper class, aka the longest to get, if there are other things to unlock before that, it wont be as bad since focus will be on other things closer to being unlocked, and at the end of the day those kills could be already at 600 when its time to finally unlock it.

#

There's not those things in the game, but way it looks there might be, with things like Wallace's post blowing up.

If the challenges are gonna be like oki’s example then it’s going to be shitty. If they are more reasonable like 200 kills with each sniper or headshot kills I think it would be fine.

Not sure.

twilit skiff
#

and if the engineer one is like tank kills or something you think it would count previous tank kills?

tulip pebble

I think it would.

that would be very nice

1k at 500m is definitely too much, but otherwise I love the idea of having long/short term goals for drip I keep even after prestige
