It's an issue any time a game allows you to shoot out of a safe zone, that you are immune.
I think a better approach to these safe zones would be to limit how safe they actually are.
For example, when you sit back in spawn, and snipe at people, or are just behind that line with rockets and LMGs, you are currently immune to all damage.
A fix would be either: If you deal above x damage while in these spawn zones, you lose that protection. If you fire at all, you lose protection. If you get a kill, you lose protection.
Something that would punish people from abusing these Safe Zones. I think that would greatly improve the issue with pushing back points, or trying to counter snipe.
The idea for spawn prot is to allow you to move out of spawn without being murdered if the enemy team has overwhelming forces.
Another concept would be to have Immunity up till the last 20 yards or so, essentially you taper the immunity the closer to that safe zone boundary.
Another thing we see with vehicles, is that tanks will sit just on the safe edge of spawn zones, and act as snipers, with no way to counter.
I think a immunity timer would really help here. Say a vehicle like a chopper crosses that wall, that zone, and is immediately immune to damange. Changing this where you still take damage for, lets say, 60 seconds and then that immunity kicks in, this would negate a lot of those frustrating moments where vehicles can abuse this spawn protection.
