Add the ability to see older chat messages not just the latest.
I imagine the implementation as follows:
When you are able to to type you will also be able to use the scroll wheel to scroll up in the chat.

I've seen some games allow pgup and pgdn to scroll, even when not actively typing! I wouldnt mind either personally
