With Oki's new update, #dev-wip message ,for gun shot volume based on proximity, I think this is where AsVal and HB can shine in stealth.

There should be tiered noise levels

Stock guns > short suppressor > long suppressor> HB/AsVal.

With HB/AsVal, volume will be lowest possible to avoid detection on assassination attempts.

This should not affect the meat grinder since action is everywhere, but this is for flanking and hit and runs.

Can we also get the short suppressor and long suppressor to make moderately different sounds? Nitpick but it'd be a nice touch

I think they do sound distinct already. But Oki's new change will be noise level when you are shot at.

Curious how suppressors will feel with it... and sound in general. Adds a lot of awareness in shooters in general

That's why I propose 4 noise levels. Very obvious noise with no suppressor. Then tones down through the levels until it's faint for HB / AsVal

funnily enough there are some guns that are nearly silent despite having no integrated suppressor, like the MK14, SSG69 and SV98

The sound spread is 600 for the mk14 as well.

Average gun = 600
Long suppressor = 180
Short suppressor = ~360
AsVal/HB (?) = 200

This just shows they need to readjust gun shot noises. AsVal and HB should be lower and the bullet trail noise even less than long suppressor

yeah the sound spread is still gonna be quiet if the initial sound is not loud

only reason those guns are that quiet is because their sound is lackluster

you can barely hear someone firing the MK14 even from a close distance

The proximity bullet noise level will be interesting. Damage indicator is how I figure out where I am getting shot.
