Buffing .50 cal

The truck-mounted .50 cal is clunky and wholly outclassed by the 7M. Suggestions:

• Flatter bullet trajectory
• 2-shot infantry kill regardless of target armour
• More ammo and/or ammo counter (or approximate ammo count)
• Significant cover penetration, e.g. through wooden walls/fences and single-layer brick walls
• Pointing gun skyward counts as turret crouch and provides full cover against small arms

the issue is not the gun but the fact that you get sniped out the second you mount it

as long as it has no sniper cover it will always be almost useless

Yeah, you could implement all those changes like AP proposed, and they are good, but the main problem is open top turret. You will just get shoot out of it quickly

Imo, HMG should be a RWS, like 7m, but much rarer

The last point is meant to address that, but it's always going to be a problem in a game where players don't use vehicles as a team

Playing with a team won't help you against a sniper sitting 800m with hit scan M200

Keeping a truck moving wil help, but there's rarely a coordinated gunner/driver team

keeping the truck moving greatly decreases gunner effectiveness and most ppl suck and will just drive you into your death

and the last point helps against small arms but not sniper

better give it some kind of glass cage that reduced incoming dmg while still keeping that open top style

In the past it was 2 shot then it changed in a stealth update. Change it back!

The Humvee got additional protection irl to address sniper/small-arms concerns, although the one with top protection (pic 2) would probably be a bit OP, whereas the one with only side protection (pic 1) would still allow from snipers to engage gunners from the front and from higher positions.

Plenty of footage from Iraq of humvee gunners being sniped out, but imo the turret type is less important than actually simulating the cover it provides.

Honestly, open top turrets in BBR don't work. Snipers have 1500ms velocity guns, in most maps under 1s travel time. It's too easy to be sniped

Yeah, I just think giving them full protection would be a bit OP, whereas letting them have at least some angles to worry about would still make it different from just a beefed up RWS.

You can't have full protection in jeeps?

Tandem or AP is easier one shot than snipers, C4 exist, HEAT and IFV's too. Even RWS wouldn't be op

Not full protection, just top cover when crouching in turret. If humvee gunners were as vulnerable irl as they are in bbr, no one would do it!

Since the .50 cal is stronger than the regular MGs we currently get for the RWS, it makes sense to give it a bit of a downside too so it doesn't just become a better version of the 7M in every way.

Limit it. Make them more rare and longer respawn. Scarcity and value lost are part of the balance

Players vastly underrate the gun trucks. 7m might be the most vicious vehicle ingame

Yes, that'd provide sideways protection, but "top cover" would imply cover from fire coming from overhead too.
