RPG should leave a trail and smoke after firing it just like in real life, for balancing reasons + addtional immersion. Hell, maybe even some smoke at impact?

So overall, proposed additions are

  • RPG backblast smoke
  • RPG smoke trail
  • Smoke on rocket explosions along with explosions in general

Which would result in

  • Increased immersion
  • More tactical RPG usage rather than just spamming
  • Less 500m sniping with rockets

Yes, but the idea with RPG would be that it leaves a puff of smoke and a trace when shot so the location of the shot is more easy to locate. Adding smoke to the explosion would also make player aware that they were shot at although I'm not sure about the effectiveness of that.

Well, some more smoke + haze from rpg explosions woul improve explosions quality, smoke from rpg would increase game's immersion + let's say upscaled sniper rifle's trail for RPG would be a bit of a balancing thing

I wonder how hard could it be to add the backblast smoke cloud to the game. As for the trail I'm guessing since snipers already have the smoke trail it shouldn't be that hard to add it.

Also, it wouldn't really make destroying vehicles harder because vehicles know you're shooting at them after the 1st rpg lands on them

By all means go ahead and land a 500m shot I respect it, but there should be no situation where a rocket launcher reveals your position less than a sniper rifle

If anything it would give the snipers I kill beyond 500 meters with my RPG some incentive to move and literally dodge the rocket by sidestepping in. Which is alright I get that.
But at some point I have clips of me firing 5+ rockets at a sniper a kilometer away before landing the shot and killing him and he didn't move an inch even though the rockets were exploding right near him

You know what, yeah, I agree with what you said. If a sniper can't see the enormous trailed fireball flying for four whole seconds in the air from 500 meters away, I deserve the RPG countersnipe
